I think when Garp says "justice will prevail" I think he's referring to Kuzan. At the moment there is a ship just off shore full of innocent people about to be destroyed. Thats very personal to Kuzan.

It reminds me of Film Z when Aokiji met with Zephyr. Their conversation was chill, no pun intended, even though they were no longer on the same side. Even then when Zephyr said “Now kindly stay outta my way, I don’t want to kill you.” Aokiji responded similarly, “Me neither.”
Don't get me wrong aokiji is a good guy but I really think people are underestimating his commitment to Blackbeard atleast for the sake of whatever his goal is

I feel like out of all the Marines featured in the story, Oda has placed the most emphasis on Kuzan. There’s obviously big plans for him. I’d find it odd if Kuzan wasn’t completely redeemed by the end of the story. Still holding out for Kuzan to turn on Blackbeard and help Garp escape. Hoping he’s either secretly a member of S.W.O.R.D. or he’s going to be.
first admiral revealed, huge relationship with one of the main characters.... yeah kuzan has always been a very important guy in the story and that's probably why to this day he's a fan favorite : longevity + uniqueness + witness of incredible events
I don't think Perona had Moria's vivre card, otherwise she would have known Moria was alive (the vivre card wouldn't be destroyed ) and Perona wouldn't have waited two years to rejoin with her captain
I feel like Garp will survive based on him having more story to tell. From closure with his family (esp Luffy and Sabo) to needing a flashback, I think he'll survive at least for now. Also Garp being the piece to tie into Blackbeard's plan feels more fitting as a step up from Koby. (love Koby but c'mon it's Garp, the hero of the marines lol)
Never liked the “there’s more story to tell so they’ll survive” excuse. Every character has more story to tell Ace never learned to love his father and died tragically young. Garp dying here works too much for the story for him not to die in this arc. Plus he’s way too overpowered to be helping the MC out

Garp will probably die, but honestly it would make more sense for him to die later on after being seriously wounded now (like losing a limb or something invalidating). It would be too much a cliché, he could but Oda should know well enough to avoid this.

I don't even think Garp needs to die period. Also in this case I think the scenario I wish for the most is for Sengoku and Tsuru to get there with a battleship and rescue them all and then escape.
I can see Blackbeard taking him hostage for the same reason he took Koby hostage. This could allow him to negotiate with the government to give him his own kingdom. Or he will use Pudding to recover his memories from God Valley. Knowing Blackbeard I think it makes a lot of sense. Maybe that’s also why he’s sending a ship to egghead. He may want to steal Vegapunk’s memories as well using Pudding’s power.
I think the main difference that would happen between Garp and Koby being taken hostage is that the Marines would actually care if their hero was taken and would actually send more people to get him back. Basically a flipped version of the marineford war where instead of having a pirate try to attack the marine base to save their crew, you have the marines attacking the pirate island to save their hero
There are so many questions, so many ways this could go. What is Aokiji's motive? Is he an undercover agent? Is he really a crewmate of Blackbeard (of all pirate crews to join for someone with some sense of justice, Blackbeard!?)? Is this fight mostly over, or just this phase of the fight? Did Garp mean justice will prevail right now, because now their cowardly tactics are fixing to make them feel the full brunt of Garp's might? Did he mean their justice will prevail eventually, in hope because now it is over? Will Garp survive? Will he destroy the BB pirates? I feel like this being the end of the fight is just too short for One Piece. Maybe Oda wants to make big things like this short now that we are near the end, but it really doesn't feel right for a legendary pirate and fan favorite like Garp to be done in in like 1 chapter. I'd say at least 5 so he'd go out in a bang. If this IS him losing and it is the end of the fight, then I do not think he is dying. They would probably capture him. But this may not be the end of the fight, especially if we do not know what happened/where Aokiji went.
Not on subject but I’m rewatching the anime with my gf and I think I figured out who Luffys mom is, hear me out, we just got to sabaody and I seen shaki now knowing that she’s the previous empress of amazon lily i already was watching tryna get as many clues as I could so we’re watching to Amazon lily and granny Nyon was talking about how the previous empress caught the love virus and was never seen again and I raised my eyebrow, like hold on we just seen shaki, and then we get to impel down and meet Ivankov and his powers and then you learn about new Kama kingdom and all the men turned to women, then I instantly had realized that is a copy of Amazon lily just in ivankovs image, then I had the thought what if the revolutionary army went to calm belt in the past a lil after roger was executed then shaki would still be empress and the only way the Kuja would talk or listen to the revolutionary’s( at this time just Dragon, Iva, and kuma) Iva would just use his power, basically I think shaki is Luffys mom and also a revolutionary army member

this is actually the ideal situation for Moria to attack, he needs a lot of shadows to optimally use his power, and right now the battle ground is completely full of weak pirates, it's a great scenario for him to use his ability, take a bunch of shadows and launch a powerful attack. I'd like to see that happening!
Another thing that makes Perona and Moria helping Coby and Garp make sense, the Blackbeard pirates killed Absalom. Moria and his crew seem to genuinely care for each other(Absalom saved Moria from Doflamingo during marineford) so I can see them helping to not only return the favor but to also stick it to the Blackbeard pirates.
But then again, the world government betrayed Moria and tried to stab him in the back. He does know that the order came from higher up, and he might know that Garp is a free spirit, but I don't think he's gonna care. He probably hates the world government even more than the Blackbeard pirates.
The only thing that stops me from that is that garp himself is saying that justice will prevail I dont think he'd be fine letting pirates help him unless he viewed them with respect
You guys forgot that Sengoku and the washing lady are on their way to help out Garp. Nobody and I mean nobody mentions this. So if the fight can last a while Garp will easily be saved
If Garp doesn't die on Hachinosu, I doubt he has much longer left anyway. If anything the purpose of these chapters is to showcase that even the Mighty Hero of the Marines, Monkey D Garp can't keep up in the new era.
Other than him being Garp as my main reason, i also don’t want him to die because i really don’t want Luffy to suffer because of it. Also… it’s time the for the BB pirates to just take a clean L. They are doing their stuff with 0 consequences for too long now. And i don’t mean that i expect Garp to solo them while Kuzan is there, but i expect him to at least get away.

What I was predicting (more like hoping) was some sort of serious injury for at least one of the 10TC and Garp severely injured as well but alive, like end-saga straw hats, or even something brutal but not lethal, like losing his fist-arm (now that I think about it would also reflect Shank's bet on the future). Now that we've seen a bit of the battle and understood the situation... I feel like there may be a casualty, but I can't picture someone "the right amount of relevant" (we barely know the officials, Garp/Koby are too important and nobody honestly cares about Helmeppo).

Moria was able to use his shadow ability on multiple people at once during the war of the best while mid fight, so he is capable of ripping out shadows fairly fast
Tsuru and Sengoku are way too far from Hachinosu, but they do know about the situation going on over there, so maybe they could send help from marines that are closer and friends of Garp/SWORD, like Smoker, Doll or even Drake if he survived Onigashima
Drake surviving would honestly beat too much on the immortal-character-syndrome spreading across OP world lol But smo-yan could be an interesting take and we would be able to see him fighting seriously post-timeskip
I dont think garp will die but im pretty sure he will come out with a significant amount of injuries enough that he should be out of comission for a while but not enough for him to not be stubborn about going back on duty
That's what I feel like will happen, and honestly hope so for realism reasons. This could be one of those moments when someone actually dies, but it would be too cliché to be Garp (Oda knows how to write, hopefully he won't do the most basic possible thing for one of the like 3 significant deaths in the whole manga so far), too dark to be Koby (it would make sense, but Oda won't do that and we know), too good of a situation to be one from BB crew and no "moderately relevant (for us or the story) good guy" is around to be sacrificed.
Of course Garp will survive, he is a One Piece character and One Piece characters always survive. Usually. Honestly though, it would be pretty funny if Kuzan froze Garp with an Ice Time Capsule and delivered him to the Cross Guild for his bounty. There was a lot of smoke and debris in the air of marineford by the time moria started doing his thing. I'm pretty sure it's stated that it's because of that they didn't die.
Perona hasn't seen Moria since pre-timsekip, so she hasn't had an opportunity to get a vivre card for him since then. She didn't have one then cause otherwise she wouldn't have been shocked when it was revealed in the newspaper that he was still alive
For everyone saying that this "aged like milk"... Not really, it didn't. Chapter 1088 ended with Garp's fate as "unknown", not as "dead". Do you guys really think he is just going to die offscreen? Of course not. It's clear to me that this chapter is meant to show Garp's defeat, not his death. He probably will either be "sold" to Cross Guild for the 3 billion bounty or used as bargain against the WG.
Well garp got credit for capturing Roger. So my guess is Roger just tracked down garp and turned himself in to him. Otherwise it would be more well known. Random navy guy: Yeah Roger just walked into our base one day and we captured him. yeah G37 we caught Gold Roger. Would be really awkward for that base if the marines just go like yeah u keep quiet we are giving credit for this to garp the hero

This current mini ark with Garp seems to be the inverse of MarineFord. Instead of Whitebeard going to save who he views will be the future Pirate King from Marine HQ, Garp is going to save the future of Marines from effectively the Pirate HQ of the new world. Garp failed to save Ace, he won't fail Koby. A further twist, that Black Beard ship at EggHead has Garp, Koby and Prince Mudman on it. The marine ship was instructed to leave to save the freed slaves via Garp, so he grabs BB's ship to get away. The biggest twist, Garp is now confronted with an Admiral AND an Elder Star attacking his Grandson. He's weakened and he remembers what happened to Ace, he won't watch that happen to Luffy. Picture the sceen where Ace saves Luffy but sub in Garp.

In marineford, whitebeard relied on his devilfruit to get damage in while garp is able to be as strong in some cases and stronger in others, without one. This gives him a huge advantage. If garp does die it won’t be soon, it’ll be after a huge fight where he takes a lot of damage like whitebeard.
It would be nice to see Blackbeard smile after, or rather before his death. After all he is a D, maybe a bit lost, but still. And if you think Blackbeard won't smile before his death, you clearly don't know GARP! There's nothing that Fist of Making D. Laugh can't do.

How boring so many people want Garp dead for "motivation", it's a trope done to death. Luffy doesn't need it to fight Blackbeard, it will happen if he is on his way. Also, blackbeard will not be the final enemy, Shanks will.
The fact that it's a trope done to death is basically the only reason why I couldn't stand him dying now. That's poor writing and Oda knows how to write.
There are two scenarios i wouldn't mind seeing. First one is Koby punching out Garp to escape together, so this is similar to Luffy punching out Garp in Marineford, only this time Garp actually loses consciousness for like 1 second which gives Koby, Helmeppo and Grus enough time to get on the ship. The other scenario is like Tekking said Garp getting captured and handed over to the Cross Guild. You can have Sengoku and Tsuru trying to prevent Garp's execution. That way Crocodile can finish that conversation he had with Sengoku at Ace's execution only the roles are now reversed. Garp would be the lure for Crocodile to get back at Sengoku. This could lead to a nice Crocodile/Sengoku flashback about family, hopefully confirming my Croco aunt theory. Extra credit to Oda if he would have Garp nonchalanty say "Hey blue haired boy are you Rocks son" just so Buggy can freak out.
All I’m saying is white beard had a total number of sword wounds of 267. He was shot by 152 bullets and was hit by 46 cannonballs. And a magma fist that blew half his face off, had one piece Ebola that prevented him from using haki and made him weak and still died standing up. Yet fraud garp takes one stab wound and is now on deaths door…
I think if Garp dies here, I think it will be the worst written death in the series. It would mean that Oda wrote Koby into this situation as an excuse to kill off Garp, because Koby wasn't even qualified to be a bargaining chip as Blackbeard hoped. It feels way too sudden and out of nowhere if Garp dies here, because he hasn't really done anything in the story yet. I mean, he has, he has been here and there, and been important, but his character would feel like a half dud if this is how he meets his end. But also, there has to be a point to this arc, so I fear this is actually where Garp dies.
How would Blackbeard have known that? As far as BB is concerned him and Koby had just had a run in during the timeskip and Koby got a promotion off the back of it.
BUT that’s interesting af, don’t underestimate Oda, IF Garp dies then Luffy and Blackbeard would have even more reason to pump heads (Even though it’s inevitable considering the race for the one piece and the death of Ace) another thing is that IF Garp dies then Koby will be motivated to finally take things seriously and not waste his potential. IF Garp dies then Big News Morgan will be all over this, the Blackbeard pirates would get more clout and the new era of pirates (current era) that Shanks and everybody else is talking about would prevail instead of “Justice” IF Garp dies then the marines and even the typical normie living in the one piece world would pretty much lose faith in the WG, the WG would then have to search for someone new to take Garps spot (Ahmm Koby) so now just imagine the chaos that would prevail IF Garp dies, Oda can create so much story and plot with this.
My head cannon is when teach gets back to hachinosu he’ll have Law as a prisoner and both Garp and law will be nearly dead, so Law will use eternal youth on Garp to bring him back to his prime so Garp can solo the Blackbeard pirates
I dont think that Nightmare Garp is a viable option if only because this battle seems to be happening in broad daylight and, as you mentioned, the pirates who had their shadows stolen would pretty immediately just start to burn--which would also take away the shadows.
16:58 I thought of that as soon as the Wano arc was announced but Oda missed a huge opportunity there Moriah easily could’ve been in Wano and teamed up with Luffy to beat Kaido (for obvious reasons) dying in the process redeeming his character and his story ends. What if, what if....Garp turns himself in, Kuzan takes Garp on his ship with some BB Pirate riff-raff. Then on the ship, after they have gotten away from Hatchinosu, Kuzan takes out all the BB Pirates and free's Garp. Its then revealed that Kuzan is actually the head of S.W.O.R.D. and they are on their way to Egghead, and THAT'S the ship approaching Egghead. HENCE why Oda decided not to go back to Egghead after the break, because he needed to explain how Garp and Kuzan get there. I can't think exactly when this fits in the timeline, and if it would work, but it would be cool.
I think we've seen the Marine HQ officials reacting to Garp having left 5 days prior right after Kizaru left, so this is probably happening at the same time. But you made me realise that it's egghead that shook the world, so he likely won't die anywau
I was thinking that as well. Losing his right arm would perfectly function as him dying since, well, he's Iron Fist Garp. Severely injured enough to feel plausible, parallel with Shanks, betting on Koby for a better future, morale down for the Marines, up for the BB pirates, free rage for Luffy, motivation for Koby, would feel more natural for him to die later on as well... It's the most logical conclusion. (but we know well enough that for the good or for the bad it's not always what Oda does)
I just hope Aokiji doesn’t end up being a member of Sword at this point… now that we’ve gotten this fight, I would like to see him actually be the 10th titanic commander and that it’s sort of the fallen apprentice scenario. Like as far as we know Dragon and Luffy were no where as close as Kuzan was to being considered an apprentice. I hope his actual redemption comes in the final fight with the straw hats with it being something to do with Robin.

It also makes some sense if Garp decides to stay if Kuzan lets the others leave. It's a good way to put Garp into the middle of things for the future. Never liked the “there’s more story to tell so they’ll survive” excuse. Every character has more story to tell Ace never learned to love his father and died tragically young. Garp dying here works too much for the story for him not to die in this arc. Plus he’s way too overpowered to be helping the MC out

Garp will probably die, but honestly it would make more sense for him to die later on after being seriously wounded now (like losing a limb or something invalidating). It would be too much a cliché, he could but Oda should know well enough to avoid this.

I can see Blackbeard taking him hostage for the same reason he took Koby hostage. This could allow him to negotiate with the government to give him his own kingdom. Or he will use Pudding to recover his memories from God Valley. Knowing Blackbeard I think it makes a lot of sense. Maybe that’s also why he’s sending a ship to egghead. He may want to steal Vegapunk’s memories as well using Pudding’s power.

I think the main difference that would happen between Garp and Koby being taken hostage is that the Marines would actually care if their hero was taken and would actually send more people to get him back. Basically a flipped version of the marineford war where instead of having a pirate try to attack the marine base to save their crew, you have the marines attacking the pirate island to save their hero

There are so many questions, so many ways this could go. What is Aokiji's motive? Is he an undercover agent? Is he really a crewmate of Blackbeard (of all pirate crews to join for someone with some sense of justice, Blackbeard!?)?
Is this fight mostly over, or just this phase of the fight?
Did Garp mean justice will prevail right now, because now their cowardly tactics are fixing to make them feel the full brunt of Garp's might?

Will Garp survive? Will he destroy the BB pirates? I feel like this being the end of the fight is just too short for One Piece. Maybe Oda wants to make big things like this short now that we are near the end, but it really doesn't feel right for a legendary pirate and fan favorite like Garp to be done in in like 1 chapter. I'd say at least 5 so he'd go out in a bang. If this IS him losing and it is the end of the fight, then I do not think he is dying. They would probably capture him. But this may not be the end of the fight, especially if we do not know what happened/where Aokiji went.
Not on subject but I’m rewatching the anime with my gf and I think I figured out who Luffys mom is, hear me out, we just got to sabaody and I seen shaki now knowing that she’s the previous empress of amazon lily i already was watching tryna get as many clues as I could so we’re watching to Amazon lily and granny Nyon was talking about how the previous empress caught the love virus and was never seen again and I raised my eyebrow, like hold on we just seen shaki, and then we get to impel down and meet Ivankov and his powers and then you learn about new Kama kingdom and all the men turned to women, then I instantly had realized that is a copy of Amazon lily just in ivankovs image, then I had the thought what if the revolutionary army went to calm belt in the past a lil after roger was executed then shaki would still be empress and the only way the Kuja would talk or listen to the revolutionary’s( at this time just Dragon, Iva, and kuma) Iva would just use his power, basically I think shaki is Luffys mom and also a revolutionary army member
It’s hard to think garp would willingly drag his squad to die to several extremely strong emperor commanders and a recent potential fleet admiral. I’m sure he either has a plan with Sen Goku or kuzan

this is actually the ideal situation for Moria to attack, he needs a lot of shadows to optimally use his power, and right now the battle ground is completely full of weak pirates, it's a great scenario for him to use his ability, take a bunch of shadows and launch a powerful attack. I'd like to see that happening!
Another thing that makes Perona and Moria helping Coby and Garp make sense, the Blackbeard pirates killed Absalom.
Moria and his crew seem to genuinely care for each other(Absalom saved Moria from Doflamingo during marineford) so I can see them helping to not only return the favor but to also stick it to the Blackbeard pirates.
But then again, the world government betrayed Moria and tried to stab him in the back. He does know that the order came from higher up, and he might know that Garp is a free spirit, but I don't think he's gonna care. He probably hates the world government even more than the Blackbeard pirates.
The only thing that stops me from that is that garp himself is saying that justice will prevail

If Garp doesn't die on Hachinosu, I doubt he has much longer left anyway. If anything the purpose of these chapters is to showcase that even the Mighty Hero of the Marines, Monkey D Garp can't keep up in the new era.

Other than him being Garp as my main reason, i also don’t want him to die because i really don’t want Luffy to suffer because of it. Also… it’s time the for the BB pirates to just take a clean L. They are doing their stuff with 0 consequences for too long now. And i don’t mean that i expect Garp to solo them while Kuzan is there, but i expect him to at least get away.
Yeah! What I was predicting (more like hoping) was some sort of serious injury for at least one of the 10TC and Garp severely injured as well but alive, like end-saga straw hats, or even something brutal but not lethal, like losing his fist-arm (now that I think about it would also reflect Shank's bet on the future).
Now that we've seen a bit of the battle and understood the situation... I feel like there may be a casualty, but I can't picture someone "the right amount of relevant" (we barely know the officials, Garp/Koby are too important and nobody honestly cares about Helmeppo).
They were one shot by the prison chief and BlackBeard was almost killed by Whitebeard… That is consequences.

I was thinking he could get mortally wounded, and that would be a reason for Luffy AND Dragon to go see him 1 last time. But it would all have to line up with them leaving egghead. I could see oda doin something like that idk.
Moria was able to use his shadow ability on multiple people at once during the war of the best while mid fight, so he is capable of ripping out shadows fairly fast
Tsuru and Sengoku are way too far from Hachinosu, but they do know about the situation going on over there, so maybe they could send help from marines that are closer and friends of Garp/SWORD, like Smoker, Doll or even Drake if he survived Onigashima
Drake surviving would honestly beat too much on the immortal-character-syndrome spreading across OP world lol

I dont think garp will die but im pretty sure he will come out with a significant amount of injuries enough that he should be out of comission for a while but not enough for him to not be stubborn about going back on duty
That's what I feel like will happen, and honestly hope so for realism reasons. This could be one of those moments when someone actually dies, but it would be too cliché to be Garp (Oda knows how to write, hopefully he won't do the most basic possible thing for one of the like 3 significant deaths in the whole manga so far), too dark to be Koby (it would make sense, but Oda won't do that and we know), too good of a situation to be one from BB crew and no "moderately relevant (for us or the story) good guy" is around to be sacrificed.
Of course Garp will survive, he is a One Piece character and One Piece characters always survive.

There was a lot of smoke and debris in the air of marineford by the time moria started doing his thing. I'm pretty sure it's stated that it's because of that they didn't die.
Perona hasn't seen Moria since pre-timsekip, so she hasn't had an opportunity to get a vivre card for him since then. She didn't have one then cause otherwise she wouldn't have been shocked when it was revealed in the newspaper that he was still alive

This current mini ark with Garp seems to be the inverse of MarineFord. Instead of Whitebeard going to save who he views will be the future Pirate King from Marine HQ, Garp is going to save the future of Marines from effectively the Pirate HQ of the new world. Garp failed to save Ace, he won't fail Koby. A further twist, that Black Beard ship at EggHead has Garp, Koby and Prince Mudman on it. The marine ship was instructed to leave to save the freed slaves via Garp, so he grabs BB's ship to get away. The biggest twist, Garp is now confronted with an Admiral AND an Elder Star attacking his Grandson. He's weakened and he remembers what happened to Ace, he won't watch that happen to Luffy. Picture the sceen where Ace saves Luffy but sub in Garp.
Imagine taking millions of years to evolve to life on the land and thinking to yourself "fuck this i am gonna go back!". :,D

In marineford, whitebeard relied on his devilfruit to get damage in while garp is able to be as strong in some cases and stronger in others, without one. This gives him a huge advantage. If garp does die it won’t be soon, it’ll be after a huge fight where he takes a lot of damage like whitebeard.

How boring so many people want Garp dead for "motivation", it's a trope done to death. Luffy doesn't need it to fight Blackbeard, it will happen if he is on his way. Also, blackbeard will not be the final enemy, Shanks will.
The fact that it's a trope done to death is basically the only reason why I couldn't stand him dying now. That's poor writing and Oda knows how to write.
There are two scenarios i wouldn't mind seeing. First one is Koby punching out Garp to escape together, so this is similar to Luffy punching out Garp in Marineford, only this time Garp actually loses consciousness for like 1 second which gives Koby, Helmeppo and Grus enough time to get on the ship. The other scenario is like Tekking said Garp getting captured and handed over to the Cross Guild. You can have Sengoku and Tsuru trying to prevent Garp's execution. That way Crocodile can finish that conversation he had with Sengoku at Ace's execution only the roles are now reversed. Garp would be the lure for Crocodile to get back at Sengoku. This could lead to a nice Crocodile/Sengoku flashback about family, hopefully confirming my Croco aunt theory. Extra credit to Oda if he would have Garp nonchalanty say "Hey blue haired boy are you Rocks son" just so Buggy can freak out.
All I’m saying is white beard had a total number of sword wounds of 267. He was shot by 152 bullets and was hit by 46 cannonballs. And a magma fist that blew half his face off, had one piece Ebola that prevented him from using haki and made him weak and still died standing up. Yet fraud garp takes one stab wound and is now on deaths door…

I think if Garp dies here, I think it will be the worst written death in the series. It would mean that Oda wrote Koby into this situation as an excuse to kill off Garp, because Koby wasn't even qualified to be a bargaining chip as Blackbeard hoped. It feels way too sudden and out of nowhere if Garp dies here, because he hasn't really done anything in the story yet. I mean, he has, he has been here and there, and been important, but his character would feel like a half dud if this is how he meets his end. But also, there has to be a point to this arc, so I fear this is actually where Garp dies.
How would Blackbeard have known that? As far as BB is concerned him and Koby had just had a run in during the timeskip and Koby got a promotion off the back of it.
BUT that’s interesting af, don’t underestimate Oda, IF Garp dies then Luffy and Blackbeard would have even more reason to pump heads (Even though it’s inevitable considering the race for the one piece and the death of Ace) another thing is that IF Garp dies then Koby will be motivated to finally take things seriously and not waste his potential. IF Garp dies then Big News Morgan will be all over this, the Blackbeard pirates would get more clout and the new era of pirates (current era) that Shanks and everybody else is talking about would prevail instead of “Justice” IF Garp dies then the marines and even the typical normie living in the one piece world would pretty much lose faith in the WG, the WG would then have to search for someone new to take Garps spot (Ahmm Koby) so now just imagine the chaos that would prevail IF Garp dies, Oda can create so much story and plot with this.

I dont think that Nightmare Garp is a viable option if only because this battle seems to be happening in broad daylight and, as you mentioned, the pirates who had their shadows stolen would pretty immediately just start to burn--which would also take away the shadows.

What if, what if....Garp turns himself in, Kuzan takes Garp on his ship with some BB Pirate riff-raff. Then on the ship, after they have gotten away from Hatchinosu, Kuzan takes out all the BB Pirates and free's Garp. Its then revealed that Kuzan is actually the head of S.W.O.R.D. and they are on their way to Egghead, and THAT'S the ship approaching Egghead. HENCE why Oda decided not to go back to Egghead after the break, because he needed to explain how Garp and Kuzan get there.
I can't think exactly when this fits in the timeline, and if it would work, but it would be cool.
I think we've seen the Marine HQ officials reacting to Garp having left 5 days prior right after Kizaru left, so this is probably happening at the same time.

I was thinking that as well. Losing his right arm would perfectly function as him dying since, well, he's Iron Fist Garp. Severely injured enough to feel plausible, parallel with Shanks, betting on Koby for a better future, morale down for the Marines, up for the BB pirates, free rage for Luffy, motivation for Koby, would feel more natural for him to die later on as well... It's the most logical conclusion.
(but we know well enough that for the good or for the bad it's not always what Oda does)

I just hope Aokiji doesn’t end up being a member of Sword at this point… now that we’ve gotten this fight, I would like to see him actually be the 10th titanic commander and that it’s sort of the fallen apprentice scenario. Like as far as we know Dragon and Luffy were no where as close as Kuzan was to being considered an apprentice. I hope his actual redemption comes in the final fight with the straw hats with it being something to do with Robin.

It also makes some sense if Garp decides to stay if Kuzan lets the others leave. It's a good way to put Garp into the middle of things for the future. Being retired it takes something like this to get him out into the world where the fighting is happening.
