Glad to see you used a closed emitter on a battle rifle. My theory is 99% of people won't be kicking doors if anything happens so a 3-15x tactical scope with a red dot offset covers all bases. Just a little heavier
I just got the utg and it feels very solid. Even the threads are pretty smooth compared to other “higher end” parts ive received in the past. So far video is great!
I have UTG QD scope rings. They have two styles. Mine has a clasp you have to depress to flip the QD lever. Mounted my Leupold mark 3 fire dot. I can detach from rail put back on and hold zero. I swap that scope between my 350 legend, 44 mag lever, 17hmr and 22lr. Even put on my scar 17 for a couple hundred rounds to test it. No issues, repeatable zero when removed and put back in place, very light weight. Works great, especially on a floating scope for a couple guns until you pick up a more permanent scope. I wouldn't trust my life to it in heavy duty use. I do think it's perfect for deer hunting (getting banged up in the woods or hoisting up into the tree stand. Also solid cheap option for the backyard pest gun.
Best vid ive seen offset mounts. Been looking for 3 days for some information since finding out my jp 30mm scope mount with athlon helos 2-12 and j point piggyback wont clear the huge turrets. So mad especially since i overspent with JP to keep it all compatible then they dont even want to return it (or answer my emails). I might just go the cheap route which i never do but i think this kinda proved the utg is not far behind the Arisaka
Thanks brother. I actually just bought that exact 2-12 Athlon and I understand that issue. I'm currently using the UTG offset on that build and still find it extremely useful, especially for the price point. Never had an issue, it holds zero, I personally think it's well made. It might not have brand value but it gets the job done. Honestly, machining aluminum is extremely easy and inexpensive. I think UTG either buys them from another supplier or other suppliers use UTG because I've seen the exact design with different branding but more expensive. I think Browe is one of those brands. I haven't used JP mounts but I personally recommend ADM mounts and their Recons as there is support for them, they're well made and you can find them sub $200 which I find reasonable. You'll run into compatibility issues with most scope manufacturers though so it's nothing unusual imho. I hope you find a solution and appreciate the comment and view.
@@2amichaelj funny you mentioned ADM as its an adm upper/lower, lol. Where did you mount the offset? Did you have to leave room in the front of scope mount or do you typically mount it in the back of the scope mount (assuming the utg one)? Just mounted everything and didn't even think to leave space up front but have 1 slot exposed up front and 3 in the back. Im actually really liking this scope and it came down to this athlon, the arken 4-16 (Japanese glass), or the PA glx. Just couldn't beat the price on the athlon and although the reticle isn't as good as the PA, it's still my second favorite for an mpvo type scope.
@@dionysis84 I personally like a larger field of view and actually mount it on the handguard. People say that's a no no but I use good rails with sturdy anti rotation properties. My zero for my offsets is different too which is a 25/100 yard zero since if I'm using my offset, it's typically not for further ranges past 25 yards. Even at 50-75 it's not all that noticeable, just a slight elevation increase. It's a personal preference. There is a enough room to mount the offset mount to the rear of the scope. I just find it's too close for my liking so I take the chance my point of impact could shift with mounting it on my handguard. I personally haven't noticed a POI shift, ever, from doing this and the shift would be minimal. Like 2 maybe 3 MOA, which is a lot but at closer distances isn't as important imho.
I would buy a UTG offset mount if only they made a T1 mount plate option. Leapers, if your watching, make it in T1! I have their regular T1 mount and its fantastic.
Ive been looking at those same offset mounts and red dots all day trying to decide lol but how to you like the steiner mps as an offset at 45? Is it easy to pick up the dot and use the buttons? I like that's its enclosed over the vortex venom/viper or swampfox kingslayer that I was looking at but its def alot more money so looking for another opinion tia... btw would be paired with sig 1x8 lvpo
Watched til the end been looking into the Valhalla mount. But might go another route. Great vid keep it up. Fuck the you tube algorithm. Trying to price together a 45 off set red dot on ar10 all aero . My swfa fixed 10 has large dials . I’d also like to have ability to co witness flip up irons. Prob utg there too. So much research and trial and error for right setup
Arisaka is overall using thicker aluminum too. If I had my pick, it's Arisaka all the way. I personally think for 90% of us, the UTG will do the job. It's not bad for $25-$30.

I just added my offset dot and wow eyes have been opened... should have done this year's ago

💯. I don't necessarily think UTG makes the best stuff out there but for the price, it's highly underrated.

I gave in, bought the Arisaka in FDE for full price.
@@Mach141I’m taking the plunge next. Got the UTG. Want my dot closer to the 3x prism. May try the t-rex arms one on a second build 🤔.

How do you like the higher 1.93 mount with the vortex pst?
Arasaka mount is way stronger actually I've broken 2 of those utg mounts. I have never broken any arasaka products

I have the Arisaka mount for $100. I only got it for a Gucci build. Def not worth $100 lol
