There's a TH-cam video on the building of them. They are prefabricated houses. They are built in blocks. The blocks that are the same sizes as HGV trailers.
The problem is in my opinion is the building next to it which is the period of which these Dock yard buildings were designed around robust strong practical buildings built to stand the test of time with character and industrial charm the urban splash design is a throwaway fad architectural lazy design which probably might not be there in 25 years great video 👍
Isn't architecture meant to reflect the prevailing attitudes of its time? The Three Graces, for example, give the profound impact they do because they are reminders of an era. They wouldn't exist if architects had chosen instead to go with the nostalgic sentiments of the past. Architecture should borrow from the past in much the same way it must radically surge ahead and push the envelope.
I assume that there are going to be many of these houses in the development. Be interesting to see the whole development completed and see whether the houses end up being pretty much the same design and shape - or whether there will be some individuality. It looks very good adjacent to the water front - but how will it look without the waterfront right there? I think it could end up looking like a glorified council estate from the 1960's. It will be interesting to see how they look in 10-15 years - will they stand up to the elements and look fresh, or will they not age gracefully? I think this could be either a real success or a real flop depending on any of these issues.
Prefab to keep the costs to a minimum and maximise profits of developers. But if people are happy with them, move in and a nice little community is created in the area; then that can only be a good thing 👍
They look ok, but Birkenhead needs massive investment, they wouldn’t encourage me to invest in Birkenhead. They should build better solid looking structures. Just look cheap to me, the whole of it does really. People letting Birkenhead down again.

you get a hell of a lot of bad storms through them docks . they will be lucky if they last 10 years before major problems . cheap crap .
the look like boxes because they are boxes . they where brought in on a wagon and connected together . they look bloody awful .
They look to much like commercial units not people's comfy homes.
