The Seattle attitude is perfect if you just want to stay laid back and not care too much about what other people think. We're not being mean about it, were just more chill. We generally don't want to be bothering other people. That said, you can have long, fun conversation with someone somewhere random here and then you never see each other again and it's fine

they're pushing all the non-white and marginalized people out of Central and the other communities of Seattle now
jacking the prices way up - for who? idfk - cuz nobody can afford to rent here and tons of people are living on the street

    truthfully Seattle doesn't have "hoods"
there are a few rougher city blocks, but anyone from a real hood would laugh at any area in Seattle being called a hood.
sure there are a ton of homeless people, but there just isn't the level of violence or the sense of danger that a real hood has.
everything is just super laid back out here.
locals who grew up here and have never known anything else and tell you they live in the hood would shit their pants if they were ever to enter a REAL hood.

Man. So many topics that could be elaborated on. From diversity, to dogs, to sports, to moving away, to gentrification.
First off, Seattle is probably one of the most diverse areas in the country. From white to black to asian to Mexican to Natives. Pick any area surrounding "Seattle". Seattle is a vague description to people that aren't from here. Tacoma to Everett to the eastside to the south like Puyallup, Auburn, Lakewood then north like Aurora, Shoreline, Marysville, Arlington, etc. We have more transplants up here now than people that are born and raised here.
Dogs are a part of life. Anything from pits, bully's, Shepard's, dobermans.
Hella sports people come from here but get no recognition. Brandon Roy, Nate Robinson, Jermaine kearse, Jamal Crawford, Marcus trufant and his brother (played for Atlanta falcons), Isaiah Thomas, etc
Then you talk about the music scene. Grunge from the 90's..smashing pumpkins, nirvana, green day, Alice in chains, and jimmy Hendrix. Then rap like Full time soldiers, sir mix a lot, I.K., street level records, juice the god, tanaa money, lewie, etc.
The "old" Seattle and surrounding areas are nothing like it was 20 years ago. Microsoft blew up in the mid 90's to 2000's and then Amazon in the 2010's. Not to mention the birth place of UPS and Boeing. The money has been rolling in over the last decade with technology field work. Almost like the new silicon valley. Any "old" area has been bought out, leveled, and developed. Not to mention the forest areas have the same thing happening.
This area is still beautiful, but it can never go back to how it used to be. The homeless issue is damn near as bad as San Francisco was during it's hay-days. Heroin is pretty much welcomed. You can find any drug you want AND consume it literally right next door to the courthouse downtown.
The idea of moving away is nice, but up here in "Almost Canada", most of us never leave because the only thing close is Portland unless you like nature stuff. I havent left Washington since about 2003 when I visited friends in Florida. Born here, raised here, family is from all corners of Washington... I see no reason to leave what I am

You can't blame republicans for black failure when they dont even graduate school and while democrats and black leaders have had control for decades over their cities. The racists are the democrats, especially the black and brown leaders that have zero expectations for their constituents to take care of their families or learn how to read or to not break the law and to not fight the cops. The black leaders have led the blacks to where they are, and their only explanation for the failure is to blame another race, that just makes them the racist. And to pretend it was Regan's policies that hurt blacks shows how ignorant you are, it was Clinton that signed nafta and sent most of the manufacturing jobs over seas.

Because it has been revealed lately that black women are the most educated group in America, but their kids, especially boys are the farthest behind. This just shows how destructive the educated minority is in their society when their kids are so far behind and just revert to the racism of blaming another race for their failures.
