@kaseymeier5944 Hi, Kasey! Thank you for your lovely message! We wish you and your loved ones a joyous Christmas and a happy and healthy 2025! Happy New Year! 🎅🎄🎉 Poor Pete, though. Two weeks ago, thanks to an unreliable car, I ordered a Lyft to take me and Pete to the vet. I didn't see the black ice on the driveway, and he and I went flying and landed hard, with his carrier tumbling. I hit my head and side really hard, too. The startled driver tried to "lyft" me from the ground and get us into the vehicle fast because the temps were in the single digits. I examined Pete, who was tangled in the towel I placed him on. Nothing seemed amiss, so I decided to go anyway because he was due for a checkup, labs, and trims. After we arrived and she took him in the back for the blood draw and trims, she emerged 10 minutes later with startling news that Pete had actually had his entire nail torn from his toe. She didn't notice it at first until she saw a lot of blood on her hand. His blood pressure always rises when he's held, so that opened up his wound, and it took her and her assistant a long time to stanch the flow. So, due to all the trauma and blood loss, we couldn't get blood for labs or continue with the trims and were scheduled to come back in two weeks. He was given meds for pain and an antibiotic. That meant two additional oral meds twice per day. Since he isn't fond of his long-term meds, this did NOT go over well. He definitely decided I was NOT "mom of the year" material. Who could blame him?? Then, on the Friday I was supposed to take him in for the recheck, I passed out (my blood pressure is strange because it can rise stratospherically at one moment and tank the next). It crashed, and I hit the floor hard and truly saw "stars". I couldn't take him. I know that he didn't mind, hahaha! So, this Friday is the target date and another ride with Lyft. We'll see what happens! Wish us luck, Kasey! Thank you for your friendship, MY beautiful friend! Hugs and scritches sent across the miles... 🥰👋💕🐈🐈⬛
Hi ML 🙂. Your planning went as well as mine yesterday (as my oven wasn't working and I had to crank the temp up to 450 Deg, "Why do these things happen when you have a special occassion?"; anyways "miraculously" the meal ended up being delicious 😋; but I now need to have someone come in to fix it (It may just be the cook 😀). Anyways, hoping you had a wonderful/blessed Thanksgiving 🧡🤎. Now it's time for the holidays, "Merry Christmas 🎄". TFS
Oh no! I’m glad you were able to get the turkey cooked, but what a stressful situation. That’s always like when I was working and I had a presentation in three minutes and I was trying to make copies for the presentation, the copier would get jammed. It’s like the universe knows what you’re doing and likes to play tricks! I’m glad you were able to have a good and blessed Thanksgiving. Yes you’re right. Now it’s on to Christmas!
Yes, the daughter and I cooked all day and watched all of our favorite shows: Macy’s parade, Westminster dog show, miracle on 34th St., Beverly hillbillies Thanksgiving from 1960s, and planes, trains, and automobiles!
Hahaha! This is how Thanksgiving will be at my boss's house. She'll say dinner's at 6 but we won't eat until about 9. Just means more time to graze on appetizers.
@kaseymeier5944 Hi, Kasey! Thanks for the lovely message! We wish you and your loved ones a joyous Christmas and a happy and healthy year ahead! Happy New Year! 🎅🎄🎉 Poor Pete, though. About three weeks ago Friday, I hired Lyft to take us to the vet's office. I didn't see the black ice on my driveway, and Pete and I went flying, with his carrier tumbling. We crashed HARD. The startled driver tried to "lyft" me up, and we managed to get in the car where it was a LOT warmer than the single digits temps outside. He became entangled in his towel, but otherwise seemed fine. I decided to go because he was due for his annual checkup and labs and trims. My vet took him in the back for the blood draw and the trims but emerged 10 minutes later with startling news. After beginning the trim, she noticed blood on her hand and that's when she found Pete's entire nail torn off and dangling. It took her a LONG time to stanch the flow. Of course, we couldn't continue with the blood draw or trims thanks to the blood loss. So, she gave him an antibiotic and painkiller to take orally for two weeks. Recheck in two weeks. Needless to say, Pete doesn't appreciate the long-term doses I give him already, so two additional doses twice a day did NOT go over well! I did not win "mom of the year" laurels in Pete's estimation! Anyway, on the Friday he was supposed to be rechecked, I passed out and hit my melon hard enough to see stars, and I had to cancel. Pete was NOT upset about the no-show! (MY blood pressure can rise stratospherically and then tank to below normal without warning.) Anyway, this Friday is the target day for his evaluation and another ride with Lyft. Wish us luck! Thank you for your friendship, Kasey! I'm blessed! Sending hugs and scritches across the miles... 🥰😘🐈⬛🐈 (I tried to post this on your comment where you wished us a Merry Christmas, but YT won't allow it. Hope THIS does the trick!)
