Just as beautiful as ever! I started school in Page in 1960. My dad was an electrician so we lived there until 1967. I have wonderful memories of the area, but, watching was bittersweet for me because, the last time I was there in the '90's was with my husband. He died in March of this year.
In 2018 I worked as a custodian for park service and cleaned that visitor center every morning. Dozens of tarantula hawks flying around the bushes up front. Glad you didn’t run into any.
I feel honored to have driven over the dam, before the bridge was completed, it was slow going but now seeing it locked down it was a treat. Thank you Russ
Hi Russ Wow! That dam was huge! I cant imagine what was involved in the construction of it! Another great video! Yay!!!! Thank you. Be safe, see you next time.
The only time I crossed the Glen Canyon Bridge was in 1964. I was 10, and my folks took a spring break, to see my Grandmother in El Mirage AZ. They were still working on the Glenn Canyon dam then. I missed a week of 4th grade classes.
Russ, should have walked out on the bridge, they have holes built in the fence that you can take unobstructed views from. It is also fun when a semi or large vehicle drives across on how much the bridge bounces. Great video
When I was in my 20's I used to skydive and never thought anything of it. .. Looking down from the top of that Dam gave me the "willies".....whew!...Good video, Thanks Russ
Your Videos are outstanding and I love my trips with YOU SIR. Love AZ & NV. Strayed 10 nights and 11 days at Laughlin, NV many times and the sunsets are out of this World.
@@joemanpjg + In 2000. We all met at a Hotel outside of the Grand Canyon gate. Got on a bus and rode al the way to the Dam. Rode the bus down that tunnel to the rafts and rode the bus back to the hotel. FACTS Have pictures to Prove it.
Another awesome stop on our virtual 2020 vacation. I really enjoyed it. Thank you Russ for the excellent videos and trip tour. Stay safe. Wishing you a super week. Hugs Susan
Hey Russ, it was awesome running into you, we're hitting some of your other places you've been, my wife has shared this video with everyone 😀 safe travels my friend. Dave from Missouri
Thank you for the journey to Lake Powell. The sky and the water were gorgeous, to bad it was so hit there. Hope you are in cooler weather soon. We are supposed to cool off to high 90s instead of over 100 here in west central Nevada for the next few days.
Thank you so much for all you do. It's like traveling with an awesome friend or relative who wants to make sure you get to see everything along the way. Your videos are such sharp images, and appreciate your wonderful narrations. So many TH-cam tell you almost nothing in the way of useful data, and also appreciate you keep your narrative free of foul language.
Thank you for taking the time and tolerating the heat at Lake Powell I have "priceless" memories from there and appreciate your efforts beyond words. Sincerely from central California.
Good morning Russ, Thanks for braving the heat to show us Lake Powell area. We were there and stayed at the resort back in '07 the water level was way down back then, looks good now. The RV park looks like the only place with trees, not any shade out on the lake. Be Safe. See You Soon!
Hi Russ, do you have a video tour of your rig? It would be interesting to see the layout and amenities (toilet/shower/kitchen/bed, etc.). Do you have air-con?
That is beautiful!!! Russ my wife had a vacation planned to be there right now and we canceled but thank you so much for showing us what we are missing right now. We appreciate what you are doing right for us. We are sad beyond all belief not being in AZ right now but we are safer at home. Thanks what you are doing my friend!!! Travel safe and keep up the great work.
Lake Powell created by the Glen Canyon Dam in 1966,. The second largest man-made lake in the United States. Provides over 2000 miles of coastline. Thanks Russ .....
Took a cruise on Lake Powell and camped at a Page campground on our way to the Grand Canyon. We stayed in cabins on the North Rim of the Canyon... This was September of 1992......weather was perfect.....
your videos are such a pleasure to watch. I live in Indiana but have driven through a lot of Arizona although not in the area where you were filming horseshoe bend and lake Powell . My wife and I love the west and have driven through New Mexico,Arizona ,Utah and Nevada During the last twenty five years or so. I’m sure lots of people just like us think it would be a wonderful to travel through the west the way you are doing.
Good job on the video Russ. I remember the conservation ppl who apposed the construction of that dam back in (70's) college. Now there's an explosion of invasive quasi mussels in the water. So sad.
There were some brave guys putting in those anchor points on that wall for that bridge. I watched my daughters friends dog last week, they went to Lake Powell for 6 days, Wednesday to Tuesday, with all their family and friends, they rented a house boat, when I saw those two house boats I looked at the picture of the one they rented that she sent me in a text message. The one they rented was bigger and cost them just over $11,000. Can you believe that? crazy.
.... you’re good! Was hoping be shopping at custom skateboard maker out in Navajo region. Dead pawn! Quick shout out to ACME bread.. think Easter from same reservation! Have fun Motor on up ahead!
During my tour inside that dam (1993), there was an interesting exhibit which demonstrated the electromagnetism that is all around you. There was a tin cylinder with no top or bottom lid that was mounted on thin metal pin. It was painted in 'barber's pole red and white inclined strips. And the fascinating thing was, it was spinning all by itself indicating how much electromagnetism was surrounding you. Hence the warning earlier on in the tour that anyone with a heart pacer device should NOT go any further inside the dam.
Those two guys were definitely NOT members of the Screen Actors Guild. If you're into boating and spending time on the water then Lake Powell looks to be a great destination point. Drink plenty of fluids (since you're driving, I recommend water) to help compensate for that extreme heat, Russ. Stay safe.
back in 1978/9 i worked for a co that bilt part of Dam gates/the crane (yuba mfc) Benicia, Cal.i put the wheels on the crane my self. Been with RTV since Mackey, Id last year Folks are from there. love your Video since.

I love this guy in his walkthrough tours he sounds like the perfect Grandpa and I absolutely like his giggle keep on RVing
One thing for sure, the Men that built that Dam and carved through the rock back in the day were some hard working ,tough dudes.
Yep and Fearless, Scares me just watchin Russ' filming!
No OSHA, no EPA
Not pansies
Great day for viewing some beautiful sights. Thanks for taking me along. The colors of the water was great. Stay safe and happy adventuring

Terrific tour of the dam and Lake Powell. Thanks Russ!
WOW that bridge, what an amazing engineering masterpiece.
My thought was that your camera did a nice job at the bridge. I liked it. Thanks!

Exactly what I thinked on , when I was there in March before covid ! The view in the middle of the bridge through holes fence is absolutely awesome 👍

Dams are such a building marvel. I love electricity.
David M I guess you don’t like electricity or buy produce like fruits and veggies. You might want to learn what a dam is all about.
Sure has changed a lot since the 1990''s in the lake Launch area.. thanks for sharing
Aloha Russ I camped there about 50 yrs ago and the one thing I remember is not a shade tree in sight
The colors are natural picture postcard perfect!
That was great. I love this trip you are taking. Thanks for showing us around that area of 89 and Paige.
Thanks Russ great tour to the dam
Bridge is amazing. I saw it in 1997
Excellent....... another free ride but don’t have to feel the heat...... safe travels Russ.
Amazing construction. Thanks Russ

Thanks for visiting Glen Canyon Nation rec center!
Very Beautiful and stunning I love the bridge the rocks are pretty as well. ❤❤❤
Thanks for the beautiful ride Russ.
I bet Glen Canyon Dam would look awesome at night. From that big red rock on the right as you was leaving.
Great video again Russ, thanks for the memories.

Great vid Russ. Havagudun my friend.
All the water & all the Eletricity 👍
Beautiful! Be safe.
I was just there this evening (7/20). It was more overcast which helped with the heat
Good job on the video Russ. I remember the conservation ppl who apposed the construction of that dam back in (70's) college. Now there's an explosion of invasive quasi mussels in the water. So sad.
Wanna guess where the Quasi mussels originate from?
Came through there after 911, they were really guarding every thing. Was reading where the lake came up 55 ft this spring.
Oh my what a view
Thank you for the upload you gave some good insight to the park. I feel a bit more comfortable taking a trip there now.👍
I was sweating just looking at that sun and desert.
Love your videos for us that can't travel
Bet it was nice having some cloud cover out there.
Just now seeing this video, 11 months behind but enjoying it nonetheless. Thank you!
Can't believe how low the water is. Wow!!! The sand there is snow white when I was there over 40 yrs.ago.
Your awesome russ
There ya go Russ! yay!
Great views. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Wow! That dam was really cool. I like that suspension bridge out in front of it. Nice video of a place to be spot.

Is that similar to the newer Japanese trains that are held up by a certain force?
@@bacino2552 I don't think so.
Skyfacer could you feel it in the air? I think some people can sense electromagnetic frequencies better than others.
@@nickdubesa8068 I don't think I did. But the whole experience was fascinating.
Nice drive 👍😁
Back in the day, there was two way traffic across the top of the dam; passenger side of a semi was not a comforting thing...
I think you're talking about Hoover Dam in NV.
Have not stopped here after they rerouted the traffic around the bridge. Very interesting!
Public traffic has never been able to drive over the dam, it was Hoover Dam that they rerouted traffic at.
The best part is riding on the river to the mouth of the Grand Canyon.
I like the addition of the side camera incert.
