• USMC Pack Modification
This is the best general issue pack system the US military has ever fielded, & definitely the most versatile pack system in existence. I've tested & own nearly every single iteration of every single US military issued pack system from IIFS to MOLLE 4000, accept for MOLLE 1 (only produced for less than one year 1999-2000, extremely rare) & alice (I don't feel the need as it's definitely the worst, but people mistakenly love it due to nostalgia).
Thanks for the info, i've done domestic and international ops with this ruck. And also competitions as well. My favourite, I wish it was lighter but that's about it.
Our issued ruck really sucks, and this one is awesome
Some additional information 8 years later, these are no longer readily available brand new (the complete system on ebay). Oneiros valley innovations have come up with several upgrade to the filbe pack I think are worth getting.
One is the upgraded hipbelt non slip buckles + belt. Mine kept slipping
The load lifter replacements if yours breaks, took several years for me to get there
The marines have also found in ultra cold weather that the frames were not as durable as they needed to be and upgraded the frame to a slightly beefier version, adding a bit of weight but with the required strength. I have not found the need to do this on my personal pack as I don't operate in those temperatures
Ironically I use this pack mostly for training, and not for duty
2022 update -- frame has cracked after 10 years of use, i've been using this for military service as well thrown off airplanes and MSVS's. Downeast sells a replacement upgraded frame the 1606MC for about $40 USD, this is a upgrade over the 1606AC for this exact issue
I have the whole filbe sytem, this pack is awesome, so is the assault pack that comes with it. def worth the $350.00 i spent on it
that's one thing that is true. I was in the Marines just got out last year and we threw our packs off the truck. we don't put sensitive stuff in those backs
instead we use another pack like a backpack or the day pack to put our sensitive stuff like laptops and whatever. those always stay as carry-ons
This looks like an amazing system. I am ordering one today! So excited!
I've updated the description to include a video you should watch before buying.
Thanks for the update!
and I thought my large ALICE was big
It's pretty massive I gotta say, still using it in 2021 though!
