As a Filipino and Zamboangueño ethnic, I believe that these Cebuano songs, and all other pop, modern, contemporary, ballad, and other music genre songs in all the languages and dialects of the Philippines should also be promoted, well-known, and be shared throughout the whole country and around the world, and beyond just our regions and provinces outside the Katagalugan ethnolinguistic area.
These songs, music, lyrics, realities, cultures, and music videos are as good as those in the Tagalog regional language and its child, sibling, twin, or alter ego, the Filipino national language.

OPM is I guess an encompassing genre in the Philippines, and includes any pop, modern, contemporary, or ballad music styles and genre in all the languages of the Philippines.
The most popular OPM songs and music videos that always made national are only in Tagalog and Filipino, but there are quite some few from Cebuano/Bisaya (such as these examples in the video), Kapampangan (like "Jo Kaluguran Daka"), and Chavacano (like "Por Que") that made it to the national scene. 😊
And Ilokano have not😥 the 3rd most spoken.

Also, those songs in other languages became nationally famous or well-known for a while only, and only by luck or chance by a band or singer. Most of the songs in Cebuano on the other hand are more famous and well-known in the Cebuano-speaking areas in Visayas and Mindanao than in the whole country, then they became famous and well-known among all other people and groups or ethnicities in Visayas and Mindanao and throughout Cebuano speakers in the whole country and maybe also around the world, especially among various Visayan people.
But because of the large population of the various groups and ethnicities of Visayan people in our country (being the largest ethnic group in our country by total population) and around the world, and also because Visayan people are also found in other parts of the country, then made most of these local Cebuano songs nationally well-known and popular.
Still, most nationally well-known and famous or popular songs in our country are in Philippine English, Tagalog regional language, Filipino national language, and also from foreign languages and dialects like Latin American Spanish, American English, British English, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Thai, and Japanese.

Yeah, me too. I also love that song (Por Que/Porque), and I kept on singing that from time to time, even if I am tone deaf and not even a good singer at all aka "sintonao" (sintunado) in Chavacano. Hehe.
I am a Zamboangueño myself and a native Chavacano speaker, so that's why I am biased to that song and other Chavacano songs, both folk songs and pop songs.
I also love "Cuando", "Etu Lang (Nuay Mas Otro", "Si Nuay Etu, Nuay Manyana" which are all Chavacano pop songs by a local Zamboangueño band called Comic Relief.
I also love Chavacano versions of Filipino/Tagalog songs such as "Etu" of VEZ TV, which is a Chavacano version and cover of "Ikaw" by Yeng Constantino.
I also love local Chavacano songs and music videos/performances from the Zamboanga City Official (official TH-cam channel of Zamboanga City) like "Hasta na Final" and "Eternamente".
You may check, look for, and search those songs if you like to listen to more pop Zamboangueño Chavacano songs and to hopefully increase your knowledge of Chavacano, of us Zamboangueño poeple, and of your playlist of Chavacano songs.

Hasula is a expression in bisaya but it just literally means "annoying" or "nakakairita". You could be implying it to situations, things, someone, or feelings. Hahahahasula is a sarcastic remark of laughing to your own feelings or the situation you are in.

FILIPINO is the National Language of the Philippines BUT that does not limit to Tagalog only as what others were used to and believed to... FILIPINO itself is a variation of regional dialects... Before, Tagalog was the National Language But President (I think it's Manuel Quezon who amended it and changed it to FILIPINO)... That includes Tagalog, Ilocano, Iligaynon, Bisaya, Cebuano, Ilonggo, Boholanon etc. etc... Tooooooo many to mention....

"hamigason mura ug kamay" is mistranslated tho haha. "Kamay" is a direct translation of sugar. Or it could also refer to "kalamay" a very sweet delicacy in Cebu.

there is actually music festival which is purely in BISAYA entries. called VISPOP. they have been doing the competition for more than 5 years? i guess. if you listen to the songs, they are very very experimental and sounds more OPM to me, compared to tagalog songs which are stucked to ballads. ya'll need to check out VISPOP entries, all the songs/entries are uploaded on TH-cam, sadly these songs doesn't have MVs due to lack of budget but only official LYRIC videos. they are so pleasing to the ears and has very diversed genres! ❤

NO. it's not dialect, it's a language. In south Korea you only have 1 language but 5 dialects. Philippines has 120 to 187 language and BISAYA is one of the language and 2nd most spoken here in philippines (except English), Filipino, then 2nd is bisaya. 8 major dialects. Listed in the figure from top to bottom: Bikol, Cebuano, Hiligaynon (Ilonggo), Ilocano, Kapampangan, Pangasinan, Tagalog, and Waray.

Cebuano might be closely related to the languages you have mentioned but all of the languages are untelligible to each other and that is the clear difference between a language and a dialect. Some structures of each languages may be the same but for the meaning it is not; which is why people from Samar or Leyte prefers to speak in Tagalog when they are in Cebu to avoid miscommunication.

As a guy from Luzon and speaks Tagalog, I'm surprised there are Visayan songs too! This is actually interesting. Even if we're like in one country, it felt so foreign to me.
There are many wonderful visayan songs. You can try Bisrock, Vispop or OBM. If you like EDM, Carlisle is pretty good.
These songs are commonly labeled and called Visayan songs, Bisaya songs, Visayan Pop songs, Vispop songs, etc., but in fact they're only in Cebuano/ Sebwano/ Sugbuanon/ Sugbuhanon or Sugbuanong Bisaya/ Sugbuanong Binisaya. This is due to commonly but erroneously calling, referring, and labelling Cebuano, Sebwano, or Sugbuanon as fully synonymous to Bisaya or Visayan, while not knowing that the terms Bisaya or Visayan also applies to Hiligaynon/Ilonggo, Waray/Waray-waray, Romblomanon, Cuyonon, Aklanon/Akeanon, Capiznon, Ratagnon, Surigaonon, Butuanon, Karay-a/Kinaray-a, and other Bisaya or Visayan languages (except Tausug or Bahasa Sug, who is linguistically Bisaya or Visayan, but culturally not Visayan or Bisaya).

This are my childhood bisaya songs and I'm very LSS. Because not just the Melody or beat of the song but the meaning of this songs are very meaningful and nice.
I am not a linguist nor a language expert or any kind, but here is what I limitedly know about languages and dialects:
Tagalog language (and or its standardized, more inclusive, more flexible, more dynamic, and national to international version, form, variant, or variety, called the Filipino national language or Filipino language) and Cebuano language are different languages, are not dialects of certain or one language, and are not a dialect of one another or of each other, but are two separate, distinct, unique, but still closely related languages of the Philippines.
The Philippines has more than 100 languages, and each of these languages have a lot of dialects on their own, thus making the Philippines having hundreds of dialects.
If two or more forms or kinds of human speech varieties are very similar but are only different in some words, pronunciations, accents, spellings, or use and meaning of some words, then these two or more human speech varieties are different dialects of the same language...but if they are different in a lot more words, use and meaning of words, spellings, pronunciations, accents, and even in grammatical rules, syntax, word order, and language structure, then these two or more human speech varieties are different languages.
Dialects linguistically evolve from a single language or from some single fusion or mix language of two or more languages over time, but are still not totally or not very different from one another or from each other. Dialects of a language, over periods of time like centuries, may or may not become totally different, unique, separate, and distinct but still closely related languages, as they become more and more different from one another.
Another commonly used criteria is mutual intelligibility, or if two native speakers who never heard nor knew and is not fluent of the human speech variety of the other speaker, will still be able to understand each other, most especially the full or complete context and meaning, and not just making guesses on the meaning based on some few and very limited context clues and similarly pronounced words or similarly used words.

Bisaya is not a dialect, for the record. It is a language.
@@libbyr4990 Dialect is a variation of a language. Ex: Bisaya-Iligan City, Bisaya-Agusan. Those are variations of Bisaya as language. When people from Iligan City converse with people from Agusan, they understand each other because they speak one language although in different variations or dialects. When Tagalog speaker uses Tagalog to converse with Bisaya speaker who uses Bisaya to converse, they don't understand each other. That's the difference between dialect and language.
@iKON OT7 FOREVER Albeit Filipino is cored primarily to Tagalog, the same is not a colloquial term of Tagalog. Filipino as a language are combination of all the languages in the Philippines. The letter F in Filipino symbolizes and represents all the languages in the PH, hence Filipino is our national language. We must stop addressing our national language as Tagalog because in effect we are excluding non-native-Tagalog speakers in the narrative of PH. There's primordial importance why our national language became Filipino. It was first Tagalog, then Pilipino, and for inclusivity it became Filipino.

Miyuki Mariano dialect is the variation of a language. For example Tagalog, there are differences in Tagalog spoken in Manila, Bulacan, or Batangas. Yes they can understand each other if they talk but you will notice differences in some of the words used or the accent.
Bisaya is not a language -its a race (ethnic group). Cebuano is the language spoken by the Bisaya..

Cebuano dialect is unique to the island itself and to its neighbouring islands like Bohol and Siquijor.

There is this song called Kung Alam mo Lang Sana, a tagalog version of Because I'm a Girl by Kiss. It also has a Hiligaynon version called Kung Bal-an mo lang Tani by AngelKym. Kamay = Sugar (archaic: Kalamay)
Kamot = Hand
If this hasn't been posted yet, then allow me: We call it "Bisdak music" (short for Bisayang Dako). I don't know how to translate it in Tagalog or English but it similarly means like a full-pledged bisaya or something.

I just want to point out that kamay in “hulmigason mura ug kamay” means sugar and not hands. Hehehehe
Lamigason mura ug kamay mean lalanggamin parang kalamay
(Kamay in bisaya means a sweet desert or short term for kalamay)
Kamay in bisaya means kalamay and kamay is a term in bisaya for sugar and other bisaya says that kamay is a sweet food known particularly in Cebu

thanks for appreciating the bisaya language which i am belong to, but im not cebuano.we called bisaya in other parts of the country specially in Visayas and mindanao region but were not cebuano. cebuano language is from cebu only and they talk differently. you can listen to other music language too which is good also like (kaluguran daka) kapampangan and (por que) chavacano.

It's bisaya song. If you know that Philippines has Luzon ,Visayas and Mindanao. Visayan speaks bisaya. hehe. Luzon speaks tagalog. Mindanao and Visayas speaks bisaya. But Mindanao has many dialects/languages. Hope you understand my explanation. Hehe sorry.😁 All in all Philippines has many dialects. 😁

I know for sure every Bisaya now is triggered as to calling our "LANGUAGE" a dialect. Nonononono! It is definitely a LANGUAGE. AHAAHAHA no hate though.
por ejemplo: Kamay in Bisaya means sugar whereas in Tagalog kamay means hands! Mukha in Tagalog is face while in Bisaya it is Nawng or Dag-way! How is that the same.

1) Bisaya IS NOT A DIALECT. It is a language on its own.
2) Bisayans ARE NOT filipinos/pilipinos.

Bisaya is not a Language, it is a dialect spoken in mainly in Cebu and Visayan regions including Mindanao..Tagalog is just one of the dialects spoken mainly in Luzon and other Provinces. English should be the main Language..

It is the main dialects of the Visayan regions but mix words that are the same but in every Island some words has similarities..Saying it is a language is divisive, evey Islands in the Visayan regions including Mindanao have dialects not Languages..The main Language is English not Tagalog or Pilipino because Tagalog is spoken mainly in Manila.. Luzon. However they also have provinces that speaks different dialects for example Ilocano and many more provinces that speak different dialect.. There is only one Country with different Islands..

Meaning Philippines is the only Country that has 170 Languages, it is a ridiculous assumption that one Country has so many Languages, no wonder we are a divided Country, we can never be like Japan, Korea or China that has a homogenous society although China has dialects also, thats why English was taugh by a colononizer like the United States so we can understand each other and 300 years of Spanish colonizer, We are a divided Country because of regional differences..and Spain mess up our Filipino roots and identity..

Example is our First and Last Names are Spanish names..In the United States when you fill up an application for a job you have choices and fill up the box on the application if you are 1.Hispanic 2. Asian. American Indian. 4. White and so on, its like the Philippines are a melting pot of all races, if you are bringing up as Spanish as a Philippine Language, that means you have more respect to the colonizer who slave us Filipinos for 300 years, The United States have a colonial owenership of the Philippines in the past like we never have independence, and Imperial Japan invaded the Philippines for 4 years. The only way to gain Independence and pride and regain our identity crisis in the Philippines, is be united as one Filipino language with dialects. China has one language but many dialects. Japan has one Language. Most of the Countries all over the World have only one Language but have many ethnic groups and races. United States has one language which is English, but many ethnic races and accents. So rememeber that we only have one language in the Philippines. Not Tagalog.. Filipino or Philippine Language only. We are Asian an Oriental Country not Spain or United States or Korea. Be proud being a Asian Filipino my Friend..
It's so pet peeve for them to address Sinugbuang Bisaya/Cebuano/Bisaya as dialect. Once and for all, Bisaya is a language. Bisaya and Tagalog and others languages in the PH are not mutually intelligible, hence they are not dialects, they are languages. Mga wika sila.
When you visit Cebu no need to worry about Adjusting or about problems in communicating . We can speak English tho.
not just cebuano people but It's Generally Bisaya people.. bacause they basically speak the same language with small differences in their dialects, which i think is pretty easy to understand.. (^^)

Cebuano is a sub dialect of Bisaya. It is not THE BISAYA dialect. Though Cebuano is the most commonly used bisaya dialect there are other sub dialects or variations of bisaya within the region.
Hopefully you can also feature one of the Philippines best bands. Cebuanos Pride Franco and Urbandub.
