I hope it was at least informative. I couldn't stop talking. Thanks for the opportunity to be featured on your channel and for the opportunity to build Weston Lakes CC.
Sorry for the dumb question but how does this work? If I wanted course made that isn’t in the game it runs about $2500? You design the course and then are there other subscriptions or fees involved?
Great video with Pakman. Having course builders like himself and others, along with the community of players, is why GSPro is my go-to simulation software. I'd love to see them come out with their own in-house launch monitor to work seamlessly with their software.
Great Video. I was worried when I saw it was 35 minutes long, but it was time well spent. Super informative and entertaining. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Can you explain the part of lidar again please. How does it work to get the actual ondulation of the greens. Is there a different process for fairways and greens? Thx
Maybe Pakman could explain it better than me but it’s the raw data that shows the topography of everything. I assume it’s the same process for the whole course and they just build on top of it.
ground based "lidar" scanner would not be practical in creating a point cloud that covers 1 to 2 square miles of terrain used to construct the course. I believe handheld lidar has been used to recreate 3d structures like statues and such by a couple of designers. This kind of 'lower powered infrared lasers pulses are also used in apple face ID on your iPhone.

Thanks for doing the call with me! When you're passionate about something you can talk about it all day!

The community is a big part of it!

Thanks! Pakman does a great job explaining things.
This was really great. Once I finish my Sim build, I want to learn how to do this. So interesting.
Glad it was helpful!
Very interesting. Pricing seems reasonable based on the extensive work and hours required.

Lidar IS what determines the undulation on the greens. Single lidar of high enough resolution is generally used to create the entire course.
@@friendly_golferbut how does he get the lidar data?
What course did you have him build? I am in Texas as well.
Weston Lakes CC in Fulshear, TX. It's on his patreon now and will be making some more videos about this soon hopefully.
You should let Pakman know that ko-fi takes only 5% over patreons 30% cut.
@pakmanstudios
Has he ever used a ground based 3D laser scanner?
I doubt it. Maybe he will see this and answer. @pakmanstudios
