Surround it in glass, vaccum seal it shut, and you might be able to with either glas caps on the two points in the middle, or a super heat-resistant metal to protect the wood.

Kinda looks more like a fiber optic strand. Of course, on the other end of the strand, it's probably an LED light source. It would be better if they showed this in the dark
El wire
For the people who wonder what the glowing string is: it's Electroluminescent wire (or EL-wire for short).
You can also buy it in panels and you can cut both wire and panels to shape and still have them glow, so long as the two opposing laminates do not touch eachother where you made the cut since that will short circuit the whole thing.
I always used to leave this stuff laying in my old shopping carts when I was younger in case I wanted to sew it into clothing/fabrics 👍
@@SpyralStormTeacup Yes, you can do that.
However, unless you come up with a way to easily detach the EL components from the fabric, it will be difficult to launder the fabric in a washing machine without risk of destroying the EL components.
@@sevenproxies4255 That's no problem to work around. You can sew tabs on clothing to line or weave for it to be removable, or else if it does happen to be worn on the body or say get splashed with mud, lol, wear it sparingly to minimize cleaning needs, hand washing is easy and a healthy habit to have.
Not all fabric, too, I would see as clothing-sweat worthy. Fabric is great environmental decor, flexible for lighting needs putting up and breaking down, and was looking into sewing colorguard performance gear, LED staff and performance mods for stage effects, etc.
Whether practical or artistic project purposes, it's fun supply to play with!

Crazy dangerous to cut a circular piece of stock without clamping it down. Be careful dude. Don’t want to see you only counting to 9
Why is that? Just curious.
Its slightly safer since he is using a softwood. Only because if the blade were to catch, it would just blow out a section of that stock. When you cut at a miter, you are switching from a true cross cut, to almost a rip cut on certain sides of the stock. If that piece of wood turns the wrong way it would bring your can way closer to the blade than I’m comfortable with. If you hold the piece too closely, it can roll, then shoot off the fence or back wall back at ya. Obviously he has some experience with his miter saw, but for the novice, that is one dangerous set of cuts. I’d almost clamp it down in a sliding jig and cut it upside down on a table saw to be safer

*Suggestion
1.don't over burn the cones
2.use more then just a lit up string, a levitating light bulb maybe
3.use reflective panel behind the light
I thought that could be a candle you find at a designer store that sells a lot of things that are aesthetic but not practical. It could also be a fancy camping heater and pot combo, the fire at the bottom heats up the conical bottom of the pot making it heat up faster, to store it you would reverse the pot and twist and it would screw itself closed and the pot would protect the burner from water and impacts.
You could try do do it in soapstone so that it won’t burn I have no idea if that’s even possible but you could try with a scrap blade and a water hose constantly spraying water, and if it’s properly supported as soapstone really isn’t strong you could actually succeed if cut slow enough.
I have only worked with soapstone enough to know that it might be possible if it’s not possible or safe enough to do with the saw, you can work with it almost exactly like wood when it comes to abrasive methods of carving, depending on the amount of talc in the rock it can get extremely soft and easy to work with but it also becomes increasingly easier to break
This is craftsman and forward thinking. I love it. 🦾 Nice work

To make/do something just because you can and/or want to is the epitome of skill and passion.
Looks pretty cool!
Yea, I dig it!
Could also cut the points flat and be an LED votive candle holder. Maybe with aluminum tape on the inside of the spiral, to kick light...
(actual metal tape that 3M makes [made?], not the faux metal duck tape)
You could ad candle wax in holes drilled to make 2 hollow areas so the wax can travel thriugh the wick maybe or something with fuel or make a ball of wax in the center or find a way to keep the wick lit somehow or just add an led now
Then his carefully crafted art piece would burn up.

...what
When I was younger and working in construction in Florida before the Navy and my boss was doing a side project himself (when he barely ever worked before he’d already done like 40 years of hard labor in NY). He was making curved banisters for his staircase out of solid straight pieces of cherry hardwood. He would take a square piece, slice it in a curved pattern into 4 pieces. Two center cuts that he would curve the line back and forth. Then he goes “watch this” and he would flip the cuts around and put the outsides on the inside and the once straight piece of wood would now have a beautiful curve. He then made dowel crevices and put in little pegs with wood glue and glue them together. He would cover the cuts up with wood filler and sand smooth. Then the pieces looked like they were naturally curved. Ill never forget it!
Is no one gonna talk about how smooth he made it look WITH A SAWBLADE? I'm sure he probably sanded it too but still impressive cut skills
Not a string, a flexible LED. My best guess would be a night light?
I thought it was a cutely cut and burning piece of fatwood, but I have no clue what this is for, I'm assuming a consumable type of wicking-candle since that looks like a wicking type wick, but it could just be scrap junk.
You just made the perfect fire starting wood piece. It will continually heat the top while also connecting the fuel source to the bottom via smoke, meaning it burns more effectively. Truly you could surround this one log with a few regular logs, and potentially start a fire with no brush needed. No Leaves or anything
Lookin at the thumbnail I thought he made a candle 🕯
Not sure what in looking at but I like it 👍

Sometimes you think "yknow what I could do" and you do it. Is there rhyme or reason? No! But it looks dope and I love the "why the hell not" attitude
On the thumbnail it's fire and that brought me here, thinking someone made a ceramic "fireplace". Then I see the wood and the little glow stick looking deal and well...not what I was expecting but, nice piece.
I dont know what it is, but I like when folks make random cool shit.
It's a piece of material much like fiber optics that lets light pass through it. Then the whole thing is placed on top of a blue lamp. Makes it look like electricity is arcing between the 2 burnt cones of wood.
Looked the best to me with the little flame inside it
Tbh, if the string was glowing a warmer colour like orange, it'd look MUCH better instead of the odd blue standing out with the brownish wood.
Loved every bit of this video chugs!!!
Super dope. I think a lighting strike design would be cool.
It kinda looks like the soul of tree that was chopped for this
I can totally picture this with some sort of LED filament that actually gives off some light!
