Anyone else want Tom to Play Empire at War now that he and Ben are officially part of Star wars canon lore?
I've been away for awhile, when did they join the canon lore? lol
@@richardsmith1898fairly recently, a fan wrote them into an official Star Wars lore book as Commandants Angor and Bedgar at Corulag military academy. Commandant Angor teaches new recruits military strategy (Tom work) together with Commandant Bedgar who teaches military administration (Ben work)
So, if you hadn't guessed already, Spell Attack +1 only effects attacking spells (Fireball, Shadow Bolt), and basically just adds another hit in. Sadly, it does *not* give uses for non-damaging spells!
It really should but i'm not entirely sure how one would balance it out as some of the non damaging spells are incredibly good like rerolling saves/hits or dropping an enemies armor value.
Also this game has a little jank to it as you will be offered a morale banner on an undead units which cannot make a morale saving throw as they instead crumble... so its a completely useless perk.
Huzzah for more SOVL! This really checks a lot of boxes for good Tom content.
i love Toms commentary! "what to they have to roll on their discipline save? a -8? pretty hard to do on a 2d6 roll!"
I was literally just thinking last night as I caught up on missed Tom content: "Man I hope he does more SOVL soon, that was really cool!" Huzzah!
The latest update to the game, which Tom is playing on in this video, MASSIVELY buffed rear charges.
Before the update the unit you rear charged got to attack back when you charged them.
Now the unit you rear charge does not get to attack back. This gives you a free attack on them that you will always win since the enemy cannot hit back.
This makes fast units like cav and fliers hugely more powerful, as we saw here with Wizard Lizard.
Play undead with the bats, they’ll get more attacks and skill when leveling pretty strong
Tom out here casually selling all the DLCs!
Now we just need King Gizzard to join the Lizard Wizard... 👀
The lizard wizard was Sips’ ol Skyrim Argonian.
I definitely need more SOVL. As the game allows you to mix and match factions I’m glad that this video already addresses the inevitable Kremlo run (not-Chaos Marauders supported by a not-Slann wizard) also KREMLO CAME FROM SPACE
I'm really enjoying this game, just got a (legally distinct) Carnasaur for my Imperial boys.
I’ve been playing a whole bunch of this game since it was first on the channel and it’s a real good one! I’m glad to see more of it too
Lizard priest - says priest
Tom - WIZARD!
I've been playing this since you showed it off the first time. Really scratches the warhammer itch.
Although I'm all for Tom's force being Kremlo's tribe, surely a chaos lord who loses his own wizard makes him Blindo?
THE BROTHERS DOOMBORN RIDE AGAIN
“That makes me the victor!” Another classic Kung Pow reference 😂
Thanks for turning me onto this game, I've been having a blast with it!
Really cool little game! Kind of wish they had actual small models fighting but it's still interesting without that. Well played.
More of this please. Absolutely brings you back to old WFB battle reports
Genuinely loving watching you play Sovvle - kinda considering getting it myself now too...
There are keys to highlight your and the enemies charge ranges. They are in the loading screen tooltips. I think they were X and C.
God I've played so much more of this than I should have. My friends and I call it Ballpeen Daydream. Loving watching Tom's playthroughs.
Goddammit I was like "surely SOVL is an acronym for something wargamey" but I could never find it and now I feel like a moran
Apprently the V is pronounced like a U. Dont know the specifics outside of it being an older U. So its Soul.
@@Phoenixdown37 The dev popped into a Ben and Tom stream. He pretty much just said it was a meme spelling of soul if I remember right.
Before about 1400 the the sounds we make for the letters U and V were both represented as V in writing. It was easier to carve or etch than a rounded U shape and even when the printing press came around the V shape was still moderately more convenient.
Loving watching Tom play this game.
How do you check the enemies range during your turn? I love learning things during tom’s videos
It's either x, c or v (can't remember, should say in the controls).
I love the reviews for SOVL. There's quite a few "kremlos" and "tom and ben recommended this, and its great!"
Really enjoying these 2 part campaigns!
This game feels like the perfect tom game ngl
Its so great
Please can this become a regular series on the channel like peglin?
I really enjoyed watching you play this would love to see more.
Hurray more SOVL! Been so hooked on this
Tom shouldn't be caught off guard by Honeydew himself standing against him, He saved the world after all.
God I’ve been loving this game myself and I’ve been waiting for another Tom video on it
Downloaded this game after seeing you play with Ben, what a game!
Skink? Skink???
I think you'll find he's a Newt. A Newt Priest. Of the Elder Ones.
Yay a game especially made for Tom! I could watch you play this quite a bit
Yeah, this is perfect Tom content. More SOVL please!
This is the best game you've showcased in forever 🎉🎉
Loving this series!!
Yay. More Sovl! Can't wait for next time!
Sovl is way to fun for the simplicity of it 🎉
15:57 Oh my goodness
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1683
Yey, fantastic to see more of this game, and with a new faction as I had hoped :D gotta see them all, and this do be a good one
2:46 Coming out here with those rhymes XD
I love the Pterodactyl Riding Lizard Wizard :D
Thank you tom for introducing me to Dragon Ogres :D I love them
Can't wait to see how this continues :D
Really enjoying this
I've played a decent amount of this!~ real fun!
When i fought this faction.. Dear god they're tough buggers
Love this game! More please Tom! Xx
That mouse has one hell of a spring
LETS GO, MORE SOVL
The steam reviews for this game mention Tom and BEN playing this but I've only been able to find Tom playing. Can anyone point me towards Bens vids? Still love Tom's stuff though.
I think it was on stream - should be available on yogscast Live under the Live section (as opposed to the regular videos section)
Should really be using the charge range buttons more.
Wait, was that a Kremlo spotting!?
Most disciplined warriors in the north!
good content
TOM & SIMON'S LOVECRAFT ADVENTURE | THE SINKING CITY 2 2025
More please ❤
More Sovl is more good
The game looks interesting, but it is such a shame about the AI images.
It's a single developer for a free game. What do you want him to use? Stick figures?
@@crappyusername69 Exploitation is exploitation, no matter how many developers or how free it is. But stick figures would be pretty neat. It would fit much better with the overall style of the game.
More!
Really enjoying this game, though I have to admit since the last video I did notice that the developer has marked the art as AI generated which makes me revise my statement about dropping a fiver on it. 100% refuse to pay the plagarism machine for anything.
That said, I will keep playing for free, and keep watching Tom play! Incidentally, the Dwarf Engineer is 100% bullshit for runs, they have a buff for siege engines and if you start with a catapult + any other ranged unit as your starting force, it's complete jokes. (Also, upgrading the crossbows to have hand weapons and shields means they're a legit unit in melee as well) All this if you want to give a dwarf run a go.
How do you propose he pays for art if people like you won't pay any money until it has 1000s of dollars in art? Bit of a catch 22.
@@crappyusername69
So, first and foremost... Games have existed for over 40 years, indie games have been a major thing for probably 15 years now and yet they all managed before AI art.
Asset packs aren't even remotely expensive and potentially neither would commissions or just hiring an artist to work on the game for % of profit.
LITERALLY the money Tom has spent on the DLC would give them enough money for an asset pack with art that would fit several of the factions (I googled so I'm not talking out my ass). Now if a humble bundle of assets comes out, which regularly happens it could get you 200-1000 assets probably 10% of which you could use.
But beyond that using AI art for the dlc is amoral since the AI art is stealing from legitimate artists. Google how many lawsuits there are towards these companies admitting to illegally getting artists art for their ai.
@cloudsora Reusing the same old asset packs every developer has used for nearly a decade can not be all we ever get for indie games.
You clearly don't know the actual costs and process for commissioning art assets for commercial use, nor how Ai art works.
Anyone can initiate a lawsuit at any time for any reason. Only a couple of them ever went anywhere, and that was for the literal first two ai art generators, which are so far removed from how it's currently done that it's disingenuous to keep referring to them.
No ones work is being kept on any ai database. The Ai looks at stuff to learn the same way you and I do, and then all of its learning material is deleted.
How is the Not-Warhammer game, a better Warhammer game then any Warhammer-Warhammer game?
more.... More... MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Plz
I would love if they would make a separate Northmen faction (or is there already one?) and give the abyssal guys like imps or lemures as their sort of weak basic troops
More pease
You should play bloobs adventure idle !
The one thing about this game is the rolls feel extremely rigged. It's not that you fail or succeed at certain times, but instead that you'll see two sixes roll on two dice and then immediately the next roll is snake eyes on two dice. Or like today, I had two 3+ rolls, one to hit and one to save in the same combat, both had failures of two ones and a two. Now have that keep happening seven or eight times a battle and you wonder, "what is up with that?"
Random number generators plus pattern-seeking brain be like that.
Rigging the rolls would be so much more difficult than just using an RNG, so I think it's unlikely
If you go over every roll in a match, you'll find more often than not that it comes close to average. It's just that when the rolls matter, you notice failures on your part and successes on your opponents part more easily.
@@crappyusername69 It's not failure or succes, it's seeing key patterns like that it rolls snake eyes then rolls the exact number of sixes after. The whole, who it benefited does not matter.
@@AcceptTheNull Humans inherently see patterns regardless of if they exist or not. It's a bias that doesn't actually hold water if looked at objectively.
Clearly Tom doesn't listen to much Black Metal.
i really like the gameplay of sovl, but the art is so weird and wonky i couldn't keep playing. hopefully they will bring in some better art in a future update
i believe a lot of the art is ai generated which might explain why it seems a little iffy sometimes
The single developer can't afford it. He's said he's actively looking into it, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Art costs a lot.
Awesome to see you play more SOVL!
Tom plays chaos, with bands of marauders. They get a lizard companion. Is he playing as Skeggi with the one, the only: KREMLO?!
He came from spaaaaaaaaaaace!
PRAISE FROG!
