This happened to me when I tried to tell people that i was depressed but all of them said “your to happy to be depressed” and “ your just trying to be trendy” but i was really suffering from it. I had no help but when it got really bad my one “friend” said she was always there for me from the beginning. But she said all those words to me she made people think that i was lying.

my mom and dad were absolutely furious at me, they threw me in an abusive children's mental hospital and that left me heavily traumatized. more than i already am. when i came back, they acted like i constantly couldnt be trusted. that made me feel even worse than before i attempted. my dad was already horribly mentally and verbally abusive, and my mom just mentally. im only 14, but i cant wait to move out and live with my boyfriend in oregon. :(

We aren't strong. We hate be considered strong. Because we aren't... We are more sensibile than others. What you see, it's just a "mask" for go over the days. We are fragile. So much, that the phrase "this man are strong" feel us like you don't understand us, alone, far away from others, sometimes even angry. Yes, "us/we"... Because I'm also a survived. I went in hospital for 9 days. Not much, of course. But this isn't a normal illness. And what you say, how you say, the words that you choose... Can hurt us.

She's a kid, so she probably didn't know which questions were okay to ask and which were not. No one really knows what might hurt a depressed person though. Every suffering is different. Sometimes I get some flashbacks on a daily basis, even though nothing really happens, there might be a simple, irrelevant thing that gets me into a suicidal mood. It's really hard to talk about your pain. You can't find any correct words to express it, so the only things left are tears.

@@briaravioli3542 I'd cry if I were talking about my previous mental health issues. I would also avoid eye contact. It really does take guts to show vulnerability like that. I've managed to admit my issues a couple of times.
when talking about certain things, especially this sort of topic its not so much a lack of confidence as a kind of concentration. at least that's how I interpret it, some people don't make eye contact when talking about serious stuff because it places you in an emotionally vulnerable position also, if he were to make direct eye contact with the kids talking about the pain of depression, that might hurt them more than help, ya know? not in a malicious way either, but it'd force them to experience the weight a bit more.
I tried to hang myself in June of 2020 after being extorted and sexually assaulted for over a year. I’m now in therapy and suffer from situational depression, situational anxiety and PTSD Edit: After a year of therapy and getting less and less contact from my abusers, i finally feel free and better again. thank you for all the nice and sweet replies, it really means a lot ❤️
@@benstoen8020 I'm glad that they took you seriously and helped you find a therapist. Therapy is hard. Opening up to someone is scary, but it is going to help you in the long run. Someday it's going to feel easier to breathe and you are going to have to fight to get there, but it is going to be worth it.
i feel really bad for the man trying not to cry infront of the kids, but the little girl with the cat ears was so understanding. This is one of your best videos teaching kids about this because they need to knowabout this sort of stuff.

exactly ... one period in my life it was very dark for me and I was continuously having suicidal thoughts, until one night I really wanted to end it all, then I realized I really didn't want to die, I knew it was a matter of time until I felt better....
That's actually exactly what I said to the doctor at the hospital : "I didn't really want to die, I just had to end the suffering, I had no other option"
It’ll end the suffering for you but it won’t end all of the suffering completely. It’ll just pass on the suffering to all the people who love you. I know it’s hard, I _get_ it, but the suffering inside you will be passed on, the same degree to *every person who loves you.* Please don’t do that. It would just be awful. I know what that’s like. I promise it’s going to be ok. There’s nothing I can say. I’m not gonna say “just feel happy and try to embrace what you love” because I know that’s not how it works. Just know that the suffering won’t end, it’ll just be passed on.

Some cover it up and put a wall in front of them, while others keep to themselves and stay quiet. Just know that you aren't the only one that feels that way, and you're not alone. @Official Nova Blast I have suicidal thoughts almost every night. One of the causes of that is first of all my dad is in the military so I move a lot and that’s bad because I never really make long term friends and it’s bad on my mental health too. Another reason is when ever I switch to a new school I never really get accepted, either because I’m white or how I look, also at P.E when kids are picking teams I’m always last and I feel like my teacher targets me for no reason. And all of that just makes me feel uncepted and suicidal. :(
In April 2018, I attended a memorial service for one of my former teachers. His name was Mr Lotsu, and he had been my biology teacher back in 2012. He was found dead in his car on 5 March 2018. The initial reports of his death said that he lost his life in an accident, but I found out later in the year (several months after the memorial service) that what actually happened was he took his own life. He'd been battling depression for the past two years. Suicide is therefore something I take very seriously. Some people make jokes about suicide, but they probably won't be doing that if it happens to someone they know.

I am in such unbearable pain every day and I have nobody who I truly feel I can confide in. My family is all I have, and I live for them, but my spirits are draining with every day that passes. I am suffering and burning inside. Each day I battle severe depression and anxiety. I desperately need help but I don't know where to begin. My brother took his own life 2 months ago. He was one of the only people in the world who truly knew me, and I knew him. I can't stop blaming myself for not seeing this coming. I'm 21 and each day is torment. I am terrified of working and unsure of my future. My housing situation is unstable and I am so, so scared. I don't know what else to do or who to talk to. I just want to hug this man. He was so open and so honest about depression. You can see his pain. And I feel so bad for the girl with cat ears. She's asking all earmarked questions.
While it is important for kids to discuss difficult topics, I don't think this man was in the place to answer questions yet... He's still very sensitive about it, he's still feeling very defeated. I could never. I admire his balls, because if someone put me in a room full of curious kids mid depression I'd break down completely right then and there. It would have been more appropriate to interview someone who was in a better place regarding their suicide attempt. He still needs to heal.
We can only hope this helped him. Maybe he pursued this position of vulnerability with the idea that it could help others and hopefully himself. I really hope that he was able to build on this experience. This poor guy is broken, and I wish I could give him a hug. Nobody deserves to feel depressed or sucicidal.
I also have depression and I find it relaxing to tell others about depression and open up about how you feel when you are depressed because most of the time people don't understand or they don't really care. Best thing is realizing people care about your feelings. I hope he felt like that too♥️

This really touched me. The kids were so good listening and asking questions and this guy is so brave to talk to the kids when he's still hurting so much.
This is SO incredibly important... there needs to be a dialogue going about mental illness and suicide because more people than you know stigmatize it and make people feel like their illness isn't real or it doesn't exist. I lost a friend to suicide a couple years ago and this is a subject that should and needs to be talked about in open air because a lot of people don't understand. I want to teach younger people about this when I finally grow up. I’m barely a teen. And I suffered depression for 3 years.. I want kids to know that it can happen to them. If you have a sense of whats going on in the world... depression is a possibility. I was 6-10 years old.
@@Jax-AK I’ve been suffering from depression during Corona due to my toxic dad. I’ve been having ups and downs, due to him putting either more pressure on me or less. I turned 18 some months ago, I feel stressed out thinking he would put more pressure on me due to my age. I have ADD and autism, him not understanding how I need a different work enviourment to be able to work and feel motivated even. I’ve been in contact with child support, they sadly mostly only gave meetings with my dad which ended in “Yeah I’m gonna fix that about myself” my dad saying such, but only changing a tiny bit. I’m hopefully for once in a long time, it feels amazing. I’ve made a list for myself of what I want to do and basically self improvement list until I become a working adult. I want to become a therapist and a amazing mom of a single child. I take these bad experiences to understand people in similar or the same place I’ve been in and taking all the bad parenting my dad did as a “Don’t do this” type of thing. I hope I will get where I will, to stay motivated and understand how I work better.
I have so much love and respect for him talking about it this openly. Cause we need to talk about things like suicid. What he said about not wanting to die, but wanting to end the struggle...that’s 100% how i feel. And the kids were awesome!!
I wish there was a video of him and Zara (guessing on the spelling) having a conversation. Not because the other kids didn't do great, just that she listened in such an empathetic and understanding way. You could see in her face she felt it deeply. I think often true empathy helps people tremendously, and I think it's why he felt comfortable enough to actually ask her a question. It's not a cure - but it helps. And as an aside - all the people in the comments wanting to give him a hug, God bless each and every one of you.

She's a kid, so she probably didn't know which questions were okay to ask and which were not. No one really knows what might hurt a depressed person though. Every suffering is different. Sometimes I get some flashbacks on a daily basis, even though nothing really happens, there might be a simple, irrelevant thing that gets me into a suicidal mood. It's really hard to talk about your pain. You can't find any correct words to express it, so the only things left are tears.
Shes forced to ask. They tell them specific things to say.

when talking about certain things, especially this sort of topic its not so much a lack of confidence as a kind of concentration. at least that's how I interpret it, some people don't make eye contact when talking about serious stuff because it places you in an emotionally vulnerable position also, if he were to make direct eye contact with the kids talking about the pain of depression, that might hurt them more than help, ya know? not in a malicious way either, but it'd force them to experience the weight a bit more.

One of the causes of that is first of all my dad is in the military so I move a lot and that’s bad because I never really make long term friends and it’s bad on my mental health too. Another reason is when ever I switch to a new school I never really get accepted, either because I’m white or how I look, also at P.E when kids are picking teams I’m always last and I feel like my teacher targets me for no reason. And all of that just makes me feel uncepted and suicidal. :(

In April 2018, I attended a memorial service for one of my former teachers. His name was Mr Lotsu, and he had been my biology teacher back in 2012.
He was found dead in his car on 5 March 2018. The initial reports of his death said that he lost his life in an accident, but I found out later in the year (several months after the memorial service) that what actually happened was he took his own life. He'd been battling depression for the past two years.
Suicide is therefore something I take very seriously. Some people make jokes about suicide, but they probably won't be doing that if it happens to someone they know.

While it is important for kids to discuss difficult topics, I don't think this man was in the place to answer questions yet... He's still very sensitive about it, he's still feeling very defeated.
I could never. I admire his balls, because if someone put me in a room full of curious kids mid depression I'd break down completely right then and there. It would have been more appropriate to interview someone who was in a better place regarding their suicide attempt. He still needs to heal.

I want to teach younger people about this when I finally grow up. I’m barely a teen. And I suffered depression for 3 years.. I want kids to know that it can happen to them. If you have a sense of whats going on in the world... depression is a possibility. I was 6-10 years old.

@@Jax-AK I’ve been suffering from depression during Corona due to my toxic dad. I’ve been having ups and downs, due to him putting either more pressure on me or less. I turned 18 some months ago, I feel stressed out thinking he would put more pressure on me due to my age. I have ADD and autism, him not understanding how I need a different work enviourment to be able to work and feel motivated even. I’ve been in contact with child support, they sadly mostly only gave meetings with my dad which ended in “Yeah I’m gonna fix that about myself” my dad saying such, but only changing a tiny bit.
I’m hopefully for once in a long time, it feels amazing. I’ve made a list for myself of what I want to do and basically self improvement list until I become a working adult. I want to become a therapist and a amazing mom of a single child. I take these bad experiences to understand people in similar or the same place I’ve been in and taking all the bad parenting my dad did as a “Don’t do this” type of thing. I hope I will get where I will, to stay motivated and understand how I work better.
I have so much love and respect for him talking about it this openly. Cause we need to talk about things like suicid.

I wish there was a video of him and Zara (guessing on the spelling) having a conversation. Not because the other kids didn't do great, just that she listened in such an empathetic and understanding way. You could see in her face she felt it deeply. I think often true empathy helps people tremendously, and I think it's why he felt comfortable enough to actually ask her a question. It's not a cure - but it helps. And as an aside - all the people in the comments wanting to give him a hug, God bless each and every one of you.
