Well done Alan. I could get a tool made to do the job, but alas getting it to you would be another story. You'll have find a grinder and welding kit. Good luck, hope you get it fixed & nice to see you wearing that helmet! 🪖in white. Cheers...
Nice to see you back mechanicking again I love the way you figure things out and get the job done provided the parts are available - your videos are always well put together too mate - hope you get the bike fixed 😊😊
me & mrs always love your vids. we appreciate you taking the fix it approach, often it is so much easyer to by a new, but where is the satisfaction. For someone like you who knows his stuff, you know what has to be done :)
I have the speedo fixed now for the next video...btw you would be amazed how many people over here are riding with construction helmets on but I am purely doing it to trigger the bed weters lol
Kedo parts Australia will supply the tool to remove the gear retaining nut that in down in the hub. It is the same nut that holds the speedo drive In the hub on an xt500. Know this because I bought one for my Xt.
Not sure you plastic mixing bowl would help in a spill! That shop is wonderful. pity not near me could do with them on my 2001 ER5. What a good idea MOTs were! Your bike would have had to have been fixed yonks ago. Never trusted sun roofs in our climate , looks teh same in your climate. Good to see you on teh tools again even though are a bit crude.
Looks like a Honda CG125 replica? The modern Honda Waves use nylon gears for the speedo in the wheel so they wear out really quickly unlike older bikes that use metal gears. Hence I gave up getting our old Wave speedo working; it would work for a while and then give up. As you say Alan zipping round the village you don't need to know how fast you are going and its just a glorified bicycle without the physical exercise in the heat to run to the local shop; longer trips I go in my pickup truck which has aircon. I am in rural Thailand similar to the Phillipines.
That hard hat wouldn't do much good if you come off, good to see you doing some mechanic work even if it's not on a red Mondeo, bet you wake up in a cold sweat after having a bad dream about red Mondeo's. Keep up the good work be happy and enjoy yourself. All the best from Scotland. 😊.
If your mates could see the state of the toolbox you've got out there 😂 Lesson to the wise, get a bike that is popular and you'll get bits easy enough 😊 Enjoy your tinkering and the making do and mending. The clocks would have annoyed my ocd, think a chinesium hub will sort your issue 😁👍🇮🇪
Love your persistence with the speedo drive, i remember a cable snapping on a cortina i had, & losing the speedo, keep going, you will sort it, not too sure about your bob the biulder skid lid though, all the best .
I bet the previous owner of the bike knew the speedo gear was damaged, actually its common thing because these mechanisms need to be lubed regularly, and nobody does this. Also i'm surprised the shop which sold the new gauges haven't checked that the cable was not rotating, nor even fit. Actually a basic bicycle electronic speedometer would work, you'd just need to attach a magnet to one of the spokes and set the correct wheel diameter.
the pushbike speedo is certainly an option but will try to get the main speedo fixed first. now I have visited numerous motorcycle repair shops its becoming clear many of the mechanics have very limited tools and in some cases knowledge as why did he not mention the broken cable in the hub but it gets worse...the amount of mechanics which told me I just need to fit the new gear in the hub and I tell them you can't do that without removing the seized nut first as the gear won't fit through the hole but they still try anyway and I am stood there in despair lol
easiest thing to do with the speedo is buy a universal digital clocks which will come with a simple magnet and sensor to stick on the wheel and will retain the neutral light and indicator lights etc
Use a bike spedo, is having an magnet on the wheel and a sensor on the fork. It will be ok for the speed of that bike i think :) that helmet is ok for hail i think 😂
I ordered some tools and motorbike parts from Aliexpress when I was in Tayabas Quezon, Philippines. I paid quite alot in tax but still cheaper than the uk. I used my wife's name for the address because it makes life easier as she is from the philippines. It's a shame you can't get a second-hand hub. We live in Gibraltar as soon as our daughter finally finishes school I hope to retire to the philippines I just love the simple life. Only one thing I don't really like is not being able to get fresh milk.
Yes, prices are low but so are earnings. If I said to the typical Brit you can have a set of clocks for your bike and an ice-cream for less than 15 quid they'd say yes, until I told them your wages for today are a fiver.
An ice cream cone to treat our Grandson from the van in the park costs us £5.00. I would say though Alan, Please get a proper helmet. Your head would thank you for it in a spill.
What is the average wage there? You can’t compare the prices to uk. How long does someone have to work to pay for the ice cream? Minimum wage in uk £10 approx.
Does the rev counter work? Not hard to log which revs in each gear = what speed… my mk1 Vivaro Speedo is as reliable as yours! 2.2k revs in third is 30mph,2.2in forth is 40, that’ll do 😅
Get a metal turning lathe from China. I had one delivered years ago from china and it was about 1/3 the cost of what machine mart wanted and it was a longer and better machine.
would you advise me please i am thinking about moving to the Philippines next year i am 69 what is the medical services like and would i have to pay for my hospital treatment would a medical insurance be a investment
Yes if you plan on moving. I highly suggest you take on a health plan which entitles you to annual or even quarterly check ups from a private GP or specialist. Medical services will vary from place to place. If you plan on moving to a very rural place then you wouldn't have access to good medical service unless you travel into the city to avail it.
@@alan4x totally agree. Like what Alan mentions in one of his videos. There's no way to explain how living in the Philippines would be but to experience it yourself🤙🤙
Well done Alan. I could get a tool made to do the job, but alas getting it to you would be another story. You'll have find a grinder and welding kit. Good luck, hope you get it fixed & nice to see you wearing that helmet! 🪖in white. Cheers...
Thanks 👍btw, bike speedo is now fixed, thats for the next video...just need to find a new crash helmet🤣have a good one
Nice to see you back mechanicking again I love the way you figure things out and get the job done provided the parts are available - your videos are always well put together too mate - hope you get the bike fixed 😊😊
Great video, and I love the Bob, the builder helmet. " Can we fix it! Yes, we can "
Ah Alan your a funny guy I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the helmet, can't believe it's 8 months, videos are brilliant. All the best Alan 👀👍👍
Thanks 👍Martin, have a good one😁
me & mrs always love your vids. we appreciate you taking the fix it approach, often it is so much easyer to by a new, but where is the satisfaction. For someone like you who knows his stuff, you know what has to be done :)
thank you Lisa-andy, good thing here in the comments people have given me other ideas which are very helpful, have a good day😊
Good thing you not giving up on the speedon! What a banger when you drove with the construction helmet. :)
I have the speedo fixed now for the next video...btw you would be amazed how many people over here are riding with construction helmets on but I am purely doing it to trigger the bed weters lol
Loving your bike vids ......
cheers Alan 😁
I'd also check the valves clearance, it should be a walk in the park comparing to that speedo drive.
may well do, cheers
Kedo parts Australia will supply the tool to remove the gear retaining nut that in down in the hub. It is the same nut that holds the speedo drive In the hub on an xt500. Know this because I bought one for my Xt.
You could get a gps app for your phone to give a more accurate speed reading Alan. Another alternative is to get a working hub and respoke the wheel.
Not sure you plastic mixing bowl would help in a spill! That shop is wonderful. pity not near me could do with them on my 2001 ER5. What a good idea MOTs were! not the first time mice have been in that car, last year they chewed through the fuel pump wires😬cheers
Hi 👋🏻 Mr Mondingo man 😊 Lovely seeing you on the spanner’s 👍🏻 Nice brain bucket 🤣🏴

I love the helmet, totally safe if it rains hammers😝 Also seems like there is a mouse in the car😱
😂😂😂his skull won't crack

All the best from Scotland. 😊.
I’m sure your get it sorted fella 👍
I can see a whole load of franchises comming to the Philippines howatts motorcycles repairs and sales.
Phone holder and gps app would’ve sorted that Alan👍
If your mates could see the state of the toolbox you've got out there 😂
Lesson to the wise, get a bike that is popular and you'll get bits easy enough 😊

The clocks would have annoyed my ocd, think a chinesium hub will sort your issue 😁👍🇮🇪
thanks, trust me to buy an obsolete bike lol, its all fixed now for the next video😁
Love your persistence with the speedo drive, i remember a cable snapping on a cortina i had, & losing the speedo, keep going, you will sort it, not too sure about your bob the biulder skid lid though, all the best
.
Have you found the little machine shops able to do all and everything needed with lathes and milling machines and may be casting new parts?
I have but thats a last resort, have a few ideas first, cheers
Alan it's good your doing wot you do best again 👏

Ooh err! Nice helmet.
thanks lol, 🤣
I didn't think it would be long before you started spannering again 🤣
find a replacement front wheel?
thanks,, that is what I have done ...thanks to your comment😁
Use a bike spedo, is having an magnet on the wheel and a sensor on the fork. It will be ok for the speed of that bike i think :) that helmet is ok for hail i think 😂
thanks for that, its a god idea😁
Hi Alan I have an idea. About your Speedo issue. You could always use your mobile phone with an GPS app that would tell you the speed your going
cheers dean, I have it fixed now but also just downloaded the free version of that app so I can see if the bike speedo is accurate
Love the helmet alan 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂does he looks like engineer ?
He looks like the gaffer khen all he needs is a suit and a hi viz vest. 😂

Great vid, no idea why I like watching you fix an obsolete motorbike, but I do. 😂
Might be worth a look...
Yamaha 36L-F5135-11
If all else fails, you could put a pushbike speedometer on it.
Its probably easier sourcing another hub than individual speedo parts

great vid
Davao City (which covers a very large geographic area) does have 3 agencies operating speed cameras on Davao roads. Beware!
An ice cream cone to treat our Grandson from the van in the park costs us £5.00. I would say though Alan, Please get a proper helmet. Your head would thank you for it in a spill.
wow, thats a cheap ice cream🤣
use a bicycle speedo that uses a magnet attached to the spokes and runs of a buttin battery
Did you fit a fuel filter?
not yet, that does need doing, cheers
good to see you got your safety helmet on, looks like a builders hard hat though, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What is the average wage there? You can’t compare the prices to uk.
How long does someone have to work to pay for the ice cream? Minimum wage in uk £10 approx.
why comment on a country I doubt you could even point to on a map
Does the rev counter work? Not hard to log which revs in each gear = what speed… my mk1 Vivaro Speedo is as reliable as yours! 2.2k revs in third is 30mph,2.2in forth is 40, that’ll do 😅
I’m a long term watcher, probably first comment. I used to be a mech at a taxi place meself 😂😂😂
A lil further in… ahhh no rev counter 🤦♂️
lol, I don't think I am doing more than 40mph but as you know I can tell pretty much the speed by the engine note
That helmet at least could protect your brain from scattering in the road.. Except your ears.. 😂
Get a metal turning lathe from China. I had one delivered years ago from china and it was about 1/3 the cost of what machine mart wanted and it was a longer and better machine.
😬
How about Ebay, might have some parts on there ffg or your bike.😊😊
It will arrive after 3months 😂😂😂
would you advise me please i am thinking about moving to the Philippines next year i am 69 what is the medical services like and would i have to pay for my hospital treatment would a medical insurance be a investment

my first question would be, have you spent any time in the philippines before you even think about health insurance
@@alan4x totally agree. Like what Alan mentions in one of his videos. There's no way to explain how living in the Philippines would be but to experience it yourself🤙🤙
Alan wots the death rate where you are, compared to UK for traffic accidents, just saying from North of Newcastle 🇬🇧🏍🏍🇬🇧😂
replace the hole front wheel
Brian , your a genius 😁thats an excellent option
Your crash helmet -is just to keep the sun of your head
Why dont you get a lycra suit and a bike helmet including the shades 😎 head down pretend youre in the tour de france.
🤣
When the postman knows where you are the world does too!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣 Do you think your going to stay there or is this like a year out???
Get yourself a gps speedo
Iphone?
@4:50 such a dumb comparison to make
I like your thinking...I will look😁
LMFAO the hardhat helmet
🤣
