I recently put up a GMRS antenna on a 20 foot piece of 2-1/2 inch PVC pipe by myself. At 70 years old I thought I’d done a real good job….UNTIL…I realized after finishing it I’d never viewed it from the side and discovered it was leaning way to much forward! 😂. So, the next morning, at 6:30am CST, in 87 degree temperature (before it got into triple digits), I had to pull up the four pieces of rebar I’d originally hammered into the ground four feet [that was connected and up against the bottom of the pipe with four clamps to reinforce it]. I had to move it outwards a good six inches, but, she’s straight up/down as an arrow now and talking loud and proud on 462-467mhz radio! I had 38 years of CB radio while I was in trucking OTR so I wasn’t wanting to add a CB antenna also. In my new 2024 GMC 4WD DURAMAX I’ll mount my old faithful Cobra 29 (BIG RADIO!) and another mobile GMRS radio (Btech 50V-R). Great video and you and Pops did a good job! Stay safe! ~Jim in Houston, Tx~ you can see my antenna at youtube.com/@TOTALLYRELAXED

It’s held up well , there is not much traffic in my area . More in the summer months. It was held up well with the high winds we get.
