Could you hear me squealing with glee!!! Castle Nation was epic and I'm on the edge of my seat for the next series. You guys amaze me! Gorgeous projects too, of course.
Just loved Castle Nation and I can't wait for the Stately Homes. I cut my teeth visiting these homes with the family and still love to go around couple when I visit. And, that music! amazing.
The Castle series was marvelous!!! Such research and work to produce this series was epic!! Thank you Dan and your brother!! I’ll be so glad when my knitting mojo returns! I’m 76, and it’s been gone all of 2024. I don’t think i have finished but one or two small projects ALL YEAR! I feel so angry to NOT be as “productive “ as i have been for 40 years! I want to knit all the socks, cowls, and sweaters that you two knit( Lord knows i have enough stash), but choosing the yarns and actually casting on a project simply escapes me. I’m now a Patreon of yours, and I’m hoping that motivates me to begin again!❤️
O M G so loved your Castle series. My 9th great grandfather was born in 1525 in Deighton, Yorkshire, England. My 6th great grandfather was born in Owmsby by Spital, Lincolnshire in 1679 and came to America in 1699 and his wife came 2 years later. While I feel certain none of them lived in castles it’s amazing to see the beauty all around. Thank you so very much ❤
Absolutely LOVED this series! The imagery, the music, the history, the drama…..OMG, it was all SO wonderful. I live in midwestern U.S. and your podcast is just the bright spot I need during these troubled times here. I won’t get political, but can only say I am grateful for all the hard work you both put into each and every podcast and project.
Wow…… thank you so much Dan and Kay! Your show gives me such pleasure and totally informed my current holiday in the UK! Your beautiful country has so much history and natural beauty - far too much to see in just one visit. Don’s music is epic and what a privilege that we get to enjoy it along with the fabulous knitting content. ❤️❤️❤️
Dan this series was exceptional, congratulations to you and Kay. I am always excited when I see your new episode pop up. Excited for the next series and for advent .... thank you both for all your hard work.
I think I would wear summery socks in the winter. I live in Minnesota in the States and we have a very long winter... almost 6 months... the days are cold and dreary often and having a bright, summery pair of socks to put on sometimes is just the thing to make me feel a bit cheerier... but to each his own!
dan and kay i want you to know how much i have loved this show the lessons that i have learned is amazing thank you so much and thank your brother for the music. and next year i cannot wait to see so much of England. i am in America and i just love history but to get to see it and hear it from you is just great thank you again.
Oh my goodness! Dan! What a wonderful ending and spectacular beginning of next year’s brand new series! Yes, I thought the same thing. Downton Abbey!! My mother and I will be watching!! Thank you, Kay and Dan for your fabulous podcasts!! ❤️❤️
Oh my goodness...how fabulous 2025 is going to be. Just when I saw sad over the end of learning about the castles....the stately homes are in the future and will be every bit as wonderful as the previous series ❤ What a wonderful episode 🎉
Recent subscriber here. You two are what I never knew I needed in my life❤ I’ve been watching old episodes, I was delighted to see a new one tonight. Sending love from the north east of England 😊
As an American whos been confused by the history of the English monarchy and all, this really cleared it up and made it much easier to follow !My family comes from different areas of Germany, and thats really even more confusing lol. Your brother is amazing to get that music. wow a whole orchestra too.
Great podcast. You two definitely have that "riz". I am a huge DA fan. I have rewatched the series numerous times. Not only because it's the only series that isn't full of nudity, violence and foul language, but I really love the characters and the stories. I cannot wait to see the stately homes series.
I live near York and my local wool shop has guests yarn in, I’ve got the fairy tale and rainbow sprinkles ordered i pick it up on Monday. Hazel at my happy place wool shop Malton has it all in stock xx
Oh just seen the theme for next years stately era. I live in a house owned by the Chatsworth estate. Not sure if you know this but as you tour around Chatsworth villages if you see a house with blue gates and gables this is a Chatsworth property. This is Chatsworth blue, a paint especially designed for the estate
Yes!! I just rewatched Downton Abbey and I honestly got chills when you announced the stately home series. I’m so excited and thankful that you are doing this work. I look forward to every episode where I can sit with my knitting, enjoy a cup of coffee and enjoy some cozy time with both of you. Appreciate you so much! 🥰
Thank you again, for my history lesson. I think I’m on my way to my PHD! I’m knitting a pair of navy socks…..I go out in the sunlight to count my stitches. 😂
A Castle Nation, such gorgeous footage, should be picked up for the Big Screen! I can't wait for the Stately Homes. I remember seeing Chatsworth, years ago and also reading and learning about Oliver Cromwell in school. Guy Fawkes is what we celebrated Nov. 5. Lots of bonfires and chestnuts.! Of course that music so fitting for Stately Homes, by your brother, Dom! And lastly I'm quite taken with the Drops DK! Need to order a few.
I wish Dan had been y history teacher.. maybe I would not have struggled so…although I believe our brain develops , the stages allow for interest and ease of comprehension.
I love your podcast. I love how husband and wife are working together so well. I’m going to look for the instructions for the Butterfly Heel. I also love Dan’s part with the castles. Can you tell me which episodes have Dan with the Castles. I’d love to watch all of them. ❤️🧶
I’m excited to give the drops fiesta sock yarn a try. I find that I really enjoy knitting DK socks, but in the end, I don’t really reach for them to wear as much as my fingering weight socks.
First, I paused your show to go watch some Makka Pakka, which we didn't have here in the U.S. Totally cute! I'll have to look up Dougie at another time. Also, Dan, doesn't your new navy jumper count as a new cast on?
I ordered 6 balls of the drops fiesta from Denmark on Sunday after the patreon show, and I received the yarn on Wednesday, I live in Ohio. Was stunned that it was so quick, I've ordered from Indiana, and it's taken longer for in stock items! Love the yarn, thanks Kay!
Hi Dan+Kay, I love you guys but as an Irish person I am extremely insulted by your English centric description of Cromwell and Ireland, I would recommend you do a bit more research on the topic as it was Cromwell who "caused trouble" for Irish people
Hi Ellen! Thanks so much for your comment and sincere apologies you were insulted. The story actually ended in 1649 in the show today and it was in the years that followed that the ‘trouble’ happened I think. Kay and I have direct Welsh and Irish routes so I can assure you we aren’t English centric. Personally I dislike Oliver Cromwell intensely, that will be reflected in the next series. All best wishes to you, Dan

Loved it, can't wait till February.

Oh Kay your hair is gorgeous!
Brilliant music, loved it!
You two crack me up when you get distracted by the squirrel!! 😂
First time watcher from Michigan, seeing you wearing a Lion's shirt is a pleasant surprise.
We both love the lions 👍🏻

I love learning all of this British history. I would say the presentation rivals Time Team for me.
LindeHobby has the Drops Fiesta in all colors.
I love the stories. Priceless❤

❤❤❤

They are coming out with a knitting show on Channel 4 in 2025, The Game of Wool!!
I'm weird, but I love bright docks all year round.
Is there a place to watch how you make your project bags?

Kay, I have a question about the Drops DK sock yarn: Do you have any trouble wearing it in your regular shoes? Are the socks too bulky?
Well, Kay, you have now reached the number of cast-ons that I said you would for the year ... 47... So you can stop now :) haha
Squirrels remember were they bury their nuts 74 to 95% of the time. Toque is a french word.
