Thanks for this tip! So many other videos incorrectly say that you have to prise the front clip loose. The assembly was made to slide straight back as you demonstrate, and the duct tape method is brilliant! I was able to change a brake light bulb today 5 minutes. Thanks again!
Your guidance on removing the 2015 Subaru Forester taillight assembly, and using duct tape as a handle to pull it off, worked perfectly! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and innovative idea!!
Thank you, The duct tape worked like a charm. I watched other videos prying the assembly out and giving it a whack and others giving it a whack with the palm of your hand. None seemed right as all I could envision is cracking the plastic.
Just replaced brake light 2015 Forester. Duct tape did the trick to loosen front clip on tail light lens. Thanks for your video gave me the confidence to tackle this project. Bonus bulbs available at my automotive store. Two bulbs $6 Canadian. Bargain & my labour. Satisfaction on being able to successfully complete these bulb change projects. 👍😎🇨🇦
Thanks! Great video. Came to figure out how to disconnect main harness. Think my 2010 is different. Disconnected dozens and dozens in 56 years, but this one is stubborn. Your video was great!
I tried this and one of the two bracket that hold the light onto the car (the bottom green one) came off with the light housing. It’s still attached to the plastic screw. How do I free the square grommet and reinstall it onto the car?

Once again you have proven that the duct tape indeed is God's gift to mankind!
I haven't tried it yet but I like what I see. Fingers crossed that it works as easily as it looked.
Thank you so much. This method worked really well. Saved me purchasing a plastic trim tool. Another user for duct tape

Did this today with Gaffer's tape.
Spray some silicon lube on the grommet and work it into the joint.
Great hack using duct tape!!!
By the way, It's a long way to Tipperary.
