Some changes that have been noted since making the video: 1. You definitely want to use Shuriken in your DD setup. Togakushi Shuriken that drops off of Titan is the one I recommend. 2. You can put some more damage into a :San spell instead of into Ninja Tool Expertise for some extra damage. Sadly I've found that this only increases damage by a few points. 3. Make sure you add cancel commands to your macros for Ichi and Ni if your using windower. The cancel command is /cancel 446. Keep the suggestions coming if anyone has any and I'll be sure to test them out and report back here.
@@Pepsisodacan If you try to cast Utsusemi: Ni while you have Utsusemi: San shadows up then the casting of :Ni will have no effect because it can't overwrite the :San shadows. So the cancel command cancels your remaining shadows a split second before casting them again so that this won't happen. Note this is not needed if your using :San over :San or :Ni over :Ichi. Cancelling is only needed when trying to cast a lower tier Utsusemi when you still have shadows remaining from a higher tier cast. I hope that helps.
I think this is kinda old video now but you do know about Daken right? I was pretty sure its always always better to have a Shuriken equiped as your ranged on NIN. The extra TP gain is tremendous. Daken does only work with Shurikens after all
@@shperax Yes you always want to use a Shuriken. This video was made shortly after my return before I'd updated myself on some of those additions to the game sadly. This is great thank you so much. very difficult trying to figure these things out with minimal socializing in game. I remember not being able to keep up with chatting to friends back in the early days
I'll have to go over some of the ninja videos a couple times! hearing how all your friends and ls kinda drifted away from being able to play is the very same reason I left all those years ago. My friend and I did not even really talk about it but one day we left for another game from a time of bots and many friends leaving us. How far you've come in 2 years was neat how you kept going and ninja was a means to allow you to continue to play and progress while you hone your skills and information on the game
Thanks! When I look back on it... it really has been a wild 20 year ride... from leading a linkshells with more people than I knew what to do with to being alone and having to find my way after being gone for so many years... shocking how much of my life has had this game as a part of it.

Have you thought about using gearswap to minimize and simplify the need for all of those macros you have? It is much more reliable than the in game macros as well.
I actually didn't see a need to use gearswap but it's entirely possible I'm missing something or don't understand all of gearswaps capabilities. I'm currently just pressing ALT+1 to swap to the gear set I need and that macro is shared with Provoke. So at present I'm not using any macros for simply swapping gear though some of my abilities do have gear swapping in them. How would gearswap allow me to change gear in a more efficient manner? For example, lets say I'm tanking in DD gear and see a big spell coming or am terrorized and I need my DEF gear on. I simply Press ALT, Up to go up a macro bank and press ALT+1 and it's done. If I were using gearswap how would that series of keystrokes or macros be different?
@@NextGamesGuide With gearswap, it detects status changes. So say you get terrorized, it will automatically equip your -dt/def gear (or whatever gear you set it to). It also allows you to do things like precast sets for spells. If you wanted to manually change into your dt gear set because you can see a big ability being charged up, you can just hit f11 and it will change you into your -dt gear. press f11 again and it will change you back. Each of your macro books you have could be swapped with 1 button as well. It wouldn't change a ton about how you do things, but it would automate a lot of it and enhance your ability to change gear.
@@patrickboyle5255 That is really neat, I didn't know it was that advanced. I'll be looking into it more and trying to get it to work. Thanks very much for the tip!
Is there any chance you'd make a separate video of what the macros actually are? I've been using this as a gear guide because I think its great for a solo player like me, but having macros would pull it all together
@@Pepsisodacan In about two weeks is my estimate. Currently working on Diving Might Video and then next week will be three on the new Ambuscades and Cait Sith HTMB. Then the following week I have the Ninja Macro video on the schedule. I wanted to make sure to wait until after SE changed the Ninja job this update to see if any of there changes modified the macro layouts. Thanks for your patience.
Good question. There are a ton of options. I'll start with the easiest and work my way up. Easiest one to start with would be Yoshikiri x2 which you can get off the Auction House for around 50k each. Once you get SU2 with Job Points I would step up to a Kujaku in the main hand which you can usually get for around 100k. Then move the Kujaku to your offhand when you get one of the below stronger main hand weapons. You have three options. 1. Create an ambuscade Katana. When upgraded this will be very powerful but it also very time consuming so if you are going for another end game weapon I wouldn't invest my time in this one. 2. Get one of the katana's offered through Unity NM's of differing difficulties. Tancho and Raicho are the two Katana's that you can get there from defeating Orcfeltrap and Vidmapire respectively. 3. Do Hard Mode Battlefields for Raimitsukane, Chidori or Shuhansadamune. I found Raicho or Raimitsukane to be my favorite main hand weapons with Kujaku in offhand while I upgraded my two primary katana's that's I have now. Hope that helps.

It's a good suggestion. This macro/gear setup has been working for me since coming back but I was unaware of gearswap until very recently. I'm currently working on getting my setup transitioned to it's use now that I'm aware. I've actually had a number of good suggestions since making the above video and I'll be testing and working with each and posting a followup video in the future. Thanks for the suggestion!
I did enjoy the video. I played solo for about a year and a half and then a couple of my buddies from years past came back and I’ve been doing stuff with them ever since. I’d recommend trying to either find someone or a few people who play the same time as you to do stuff with. It’s a lot easier to solo than it used to be it’s still so much better to multi box or play with others.
@@mattpecnik2803 Yep another good call and a change I made literally the day after making this video.
