@@sam_64 Sorry for my late reply but yes, that was the reason since backwards compatibility was a big selling point back than more than nowadays for sure, and the SNES lacked that

I wonder what would be possible if someone make an expansion for the Genesis making it compatible with the NES Chip, so making YM2612+SN7+2A03 be possible in real hardware... It could even run NES games! Mas this would be a dream
The Sega Genesis soundchip plus the NES soundchip is one of my favorite combos to work with. I usually just use the NES for drums using the triangle and noise channels because drums on the 2a03 sound much better than anything I could make with FM without samples.
I don't know what is harder, composing the same song on furnace Tracker and using corrscope or only using furnace for the Sega genesis part and famistudio for the nes part and matching the songs together.

i guess this is technically possible using the VRC7 chip in place of the ym2612

Definitely the latter. Furnace makes it easier for multichip things.
