This theme is really underrated by the fans, because of Wily Fortress 1. Wily Fortress 1 is supposed to get you hyped up for the final stages, Wily Fortress 2 is supposed to literally, let the play know that, the end is near. All the weapons that you got, all the deaths that you had, all the close calls that you had, were all built up to THIS very point. Go on, and get that mad scientist!
I like how this song is just a 4-bar phrase that shifts up a semitone every cycle, and Glissandos all the way back down after going up a full octave. It does a great job of giving a sense of rising tension and urgency with the occasional release.
I'm glad to be in a comment area where people appreciate great music like this. The makers of Mega Man 10 apparently like this piece since "Stairway to Darkness" is an homage to this song.
someone should 'remix' this song into a Shepard tone i.e. the tone keeps increasing infinitely because it blends the lower octave in rather than loop back to the first note
Sigh, this gives me mixed feelings. On October 23rd, 2010 that morning, my step grandfather suffered a massive heart attack, and I just happened to be playing this game, and the music has a melancholic sound to it of sadness. He passed away the following morning at 71. RIP 1939-2010
this song is so interesting it just keeps going up a half step until it goes through every key I keep expecting it to do something different, but it just keeps going up by a half step over & over
well similar to how a decending chromatic sequence typically communicates a hopeless situation, acending sequences like this build anticipation and tension. one of my favorites by this composer.
One of, if not the most underrated song in gaming. I love how it plays the same melody, but it's raised by one key every time, which imo is rather creative. Not to mention it builds tension as you go further and further into Wily's house. In fact I might even go a far as to say I listen to this more than the Wily stages 1/2 theme(I can hear an angry mob in the distance XD)
i can't say i remember the level but the moment that synth starts at the song i can almost feel my childhood anguish in my chest lol had to be a tough level that took me a lot of turns
In the file corruptor I wrote, I was able to get the bass channel of this song to play in place of the bass channel of the boss intro in one of my corruptions just now. It was amazing stuff.
When I hear this I instantly have flashbacks to those spike rooms and having sweat all over my hands trying to make jumps where you die instantly if you mess up. It was stressful. No saves.
Everyone overshadows this theme because of Wily Stage 1, which left this song to not be loved as much, even though it should be, Wily 1 is to make you feel hyped about being so close to Wily, but this song tells you that the end is near.
So this is where the WWE got the inspiration for the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins wrestling theme sans 2016!!!!!!! His entrance video was off the chain, a human video game come to life! TJP!
This theme is the biggest casualty of Wily 1 existing. Too bad, since it's a pretty good one, but just try finding an arrange of this one buried among dozens of "Wily Stage 1" arrangements.
Very interesting that the music plays the same sequence and it escalates a half step every time until you get through all the keys, then it slides back down.
*Dr. Wily Teleport System 2000* Only available if you've defeated the Boobeam Trap boss (why did Capcom name this? :))) Just don't run out of Crash Bombs, dammit...
The only dud in this game's soundtrack, in my opinion. Appropriately, it also plays at the point of the game where the gameplay starts faltering, too. This theme is associated with enemies that shoot at you in tight corridors so you can't avoid them, the Boobeam Trap that requires full Crash Bomb energy and having to navigate some of the worst sprite flicker in the series, and leading up to possibly the most unfair Wily Machine fight EVER.

well said
Ever heard of whole megaman 1 ost and V?
every video of a video game ost has a comment saying that the music is underrated don't people know that there are personal preferences
@@user-cj4fu8qq9b I know, right?
I've spent HOURS looking for something like this
This song in this much clarity
this theme used to terrify me because i thought something was getting closer or i was running out of time.
sounds like the music did it's job, then.
The last 4 stages of Megaman 2 feel like something out of a creepypasta.
Like the Sonic drowning theme
I like how this song is just a 4-bar phrase that shifts up a semitone every cycle, and Glissandos all the way back down after going up a full octave. It does a great job of giving a sense of rising tension and urgency with the occasional release.
If you hear this theme, you know that you're going to die a lot of times with that one boss that needs the Crash Bomb
Run out of Crash Bomb in the boss fight on Famicom console as kid.....memorable 🤣.
No ammo for crash bomb left for this boss, you're fucked...
The Boobeam Trap
That boss is the only thing wrong with Mega Man 2
I ain't laughing this boss is so damn impossible unless you destroy only 2 doors good luck with that
I'm glad to be in a comment area where people appreciate great music like this. The makers of Mega Man 10 apparently like this piece since "Stairway to Darkness" is an homage to this song.
Yes yes yes, yeeees!!
I love this theme. It has that sense of urgency to it. Some people say it's repetitive. They just don't get it.
Well... it IS repetitive... lol.
It's very repetitive. I get the sense of urgency and tension in this song but it gets annoying
Waiting for that trickle down it’s like a type writer def one of my fav themes
Bruh you're telling me you can't hear that? It sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the themes
I enjoyed it and see purple a lot with moving platform and spikes spikes spikes 🤣🤣🤣.
I love that up escalating melody, then crushing down in a sweep, like all your progress in the gameplay
yup
someone should 'remix' this song into a Shepard tone i.e. the tone keeps increasing infinitely because it blends the lower octave in rather than loop back to the first note
carmatic the reset is the best part tho

This theme is great. Took me awhile to appreciate it.

The Theme of Stage 1 and 2 are cool but this Theme is more creepy and more tension!
tension,Tension,TEnsion,TENsion,TENSion,TENSIon,TENSIOn,TENSION,TENSION weeeeeeeew tension,Tension......
The definitive demonstration of minor key signatures and moving up the scale
i can't say i remember the level but the moment that synth starts at the song i can almost feel my childhood anguish in my chest lol had to be a tough level that took me a lot of turns
Had to check to see if this was SiIvaGunner.
Me too. I thought i got blueballed.
I'm happy we have both SilvaGunner and GBelair. Without them, there would be NO well structured rip of this music on TH-cam.
Me encanta lo suspensiva que es esta musica.
👍
One of the greatest vg tracks of all time.
I prefer this wily stage theme over the first one. Cause I like the tension it gives and it remind me of that purple stage with lots of spikes 🤣.
Love this track and game
This theme song is unappreciated
This song has a feeling of helplessness, yet perseverance. You feel these two things but perseverance still wins by a nose.
Lyrics:
Wily's Fortress / Wily's FORtress
WIly's FORtress / WILY's FORtress
WILY'S FORTRESS! / WILY'S FORTRESS!!
WILY'S FORTRESS!!! / WILY'S FORTRESS!!!!
WII-LY'S! FORTRESS! / WIII-LY'S! FORRR-TRESSS!!!
WIIII-LYYYY'S FORRR-TRESSS!!! / WIIIIILY'S FOOOOORTRESSS!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAaaaaaaa
(loop)
I can’t unhear it now 😂
This song is like really depressing even for mega man
In the file corruptor I wrote, I was able to get the bass channel of this song to play in place of the bass channel of the boss intro in one of my corruptions just now. It was amazing stuff.
When I hear this I instantly have flashbacks to those spike rooms and having sweat all over my hands trying to make jumps where you die instantly if you mess up. It was stressful. No saves.
-The drop with spikes on the side
-do not waste your crash bombs or you will regret it
This matches Wily 3-4 in MM1: intense, challenging, focused.
Everyone overshadows this theme because of Wily Stage 1, which left this song to not be loved as much, even though it should be, Wily 1 is to make you feel hyped about being so close to Wily, but this song tells you that the end is near.
Best.
This music makes its stages that much more of a depressing slog at the end of an otherwise amazing game
So this is where the WWE got the inspiration for the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins wrestling theme sans 2016!!!!!!! His entrance video was off the chain, a human video game come to life! TJP!
The Wily Wars version of this track is very good.
Very underrated to be honest
I like this song more than the first wily stage. Has more tension and feels more ominous.
Sounds like a silvagunner rip just getting faster without the speed
Anyone ever notice this sounds a bit like part of Upper Brinstar?
This theme is the biggest casualty of Wily 1 existing. Too bad, since it's a pretty good one, but just try finding an arrange of this one buried among dozens of "Wily Stage 1" arrangements.
When you realize that you have SIXTEEN+ boss fights in this game. >:) You ready to live forever?!!
Very interesting that the music plays the same sequence and it escalates a half step every time until you get through all the keys, then it slides back down.
The Luigi of Mega Man 2 music.
Imagine a kid in the 90s vibing to Wily fortress one, then gets smacked with this
best theme song on the nes system ever imo
nice sarcasm lol
you disagree? name one better

Only i imagine dr wily going slowly insane and using every wily machine against megaman every time i hear this
If I remember this is the purple fortress where you have jump on rotating panels and use Crash man’s drills to destroy the bombs.
I hate part spot where jump down while underwater and both side of wall has many spikes
reminds me of Marginal Consciousness from Battle Garegga
*Dr. Wily Teleport System 2000*
Only available if you've defeated the Boobeam Trap boss (why did Capcom name this? :))) Just don't run out of Crash Bombs, dammit...
Yer’ fackin dead, mate.
The end is near.
一开始觉得很难听,但现在看来,好
Is just for me, or this song really sounds creepy?
I think jump out of the water in Wily Stage 3 is fun for me (Be careful of those spikes and gray-colored fish robots).
I can't find a 30 minute extended version of this? Can anyone share a link? This goes really well with Stairway to Darkness from MM10.
someone should make this a shepard tone if possible

Also fuck Wily Stage 4. I still hate it even though I'm good at it.
💙❤
pain and suffering
Que tension ,ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
The first Willy stage sound is Epic.
reminds a bit of Megaman X Sigma stage 1. Just a bit
Please make an extendet Version!!!
Grr stupid booie beam traps, as if they're not bad enough there's slowdown through the fight as well
Guts tank:Mechanical Tank made by Toriel here is a photo of frisk sitting on it
Where that f king floor!?
this theme is fire !!!!! put it out
No.

Then why are you in this video?
That’s the point, it’s just to build suspense. It’s purposely juxtaposed against all the other fire music to give you a sense that playtime is over
