@tenoregermania: Me too, on GDR TV. My grandma told me that part of this was his own story: A giant of a tenor voice, but too little for opera stage. However, he was brilliant in radio and concert, and I was very glad to find a record in my parents´ collection.
I remember watching this movie as a child. He couldn't get a job because of his short stature so his friend told him to go to the radio studio and just start singing.
