Great recipe... I made it my own by, browning sausage (no cream cheese) scrambled eggs, laid down first layer of dough, put in sausage & scrambled eggs & sprinkled with cheddar. Put top layer of dough, egg washed & baked. Had hash browns on the side. I REALLY love your recipes. Decided to subscribe- don’t usually do that. Thanks 😀
I was thinking the same thing, onions & peppers. I am going to add some fresh grated cheese on top before the top layer of crescent roll. I bet this would be great using puff pastry in place of the crescent dough.

I made the Maple Sausage Crescent Roll receipe today and all I can say is yum!! My husband loves it. He said to tell you it is a definite 5 star receipe. It has found a permanent place in our menu. Thanks so much and keep on cooking!!

It is just George and I cause my kids are grown now. So I cut the recipe in half and only used one tube of crescent rolls and a smaller baking dish. Still turned out wonderful..
Delicious Catherine..Ive also made the mixture with half ground beef half sausage (plain)added onions ,green peppers,and used gv brand cheese wiz...like a bacon cheeseburger bake..
I can attest to this being a delicious and easy breakfast. I’ve made a different version of this recipe for years. I cook the sausage, then scramble about 6 eggs with about 1/4 cup (or less) of whole milk and season with course salt and pepper. Add that to the pan with the cooked sausage and add cream cheese cut into chunks. After the eggs have cooked and the cream cheese has melted into everything, I spread it out on the crescent roll on the bottom of the pan and place the second layer on top, do the egg wash and bake. It’s all baked together and comes out so good. The whole family loves this recipe!
I might not make this breakfast dish, but I just learned a new trick to use crescent rolls as pie crust. I can just see a nice chicken pot pie filling in that recipe instead. Also, I would try brushing the top with just egg yolk and sprinkling with sesame seeds.
I really like all the commenters suggestions for variations to the basic recipe...lots of good ideas! I’m going to try “pre-frying” the sausage/cream cheese filling today & then slapping it all together tomorrow morning. Looking forward to breakfast already.

I made this today. I added mushrooms and onions and peppers and Hash browns. Then added cheese mixture. The more stuff I added, the better it looked! We poured gravy over the top, and had eggs and fried apples on the side. It was amazing. Next time I am going to use whomp biscuits. We found 4 roll packs for a $1. Can't wait to try it!
Had regular sausage, so I put real maple syrup drizzled on top of sausage filling & brushed the top of crescents! Delicious! I want to incorporate scrambled eggs in the next one. Thank you!

I will have to try this. I am in Maine and there is a bulk goods store very near by me where the folks sell bulk sausage with finely chopped onion and pepper. This would be good in this. Of course, I would sneak in some cayenne. I always make my scrambled with sour cream instead of milk or water. Really love the results.

You can add the powdered ranch seasoning to the sausage cream cheese mix for extra flavor. I've made the individual crescent rolls with it but I'm looking forward to trying this one with it too. Thanks for another great recipe.
Thanks again. I made this “south of the border” style with chorizo, queso blanco, chiles, etc. for brunch buffet for some Mexican visitors. It was a huge hit. Scrambled eggs with salsa, cottage fries, yellow rice, beans and a platter of watermelon, orange slices, pineapple and mango finished the spread.
We love the Maple Sausage. Have a family member who won’t eat anything w- cream cheese so I’ll have to use regular cheese, but this one gets two thumbs up. 👍
Gonna have to try this. We do something similar here except we lay the crescent sheet out, cover with uncooked sausage, sprinkle moderately with mild cheddar and pepper jack. Roll that up and cut into pinwheel. Lay on parchment lined cookie sheet and cook at 425F for 15-20 mins. The sausage WILL get done, and Jimmy Dean does not render a ton of fat so you're not overdoing it here. These are not messy either. Perfect finger food. Slather on a little mustard if you like :)

I’ve been making this for years. I’ve added things throughout the years. I use hot breakfast sausage, chive and onion cream cheese and some shredded cheddar in the mixture. I use the butter flake crescent rolls. Build it the same way you did only I use egg wash and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese on top. Soooo good. Love your channel.

Done this for years and it’s great to be creative in so many ways. Even to diced vegetables to one’s liking.
I have made this for years. I take 2 crescent rolls and fold together. Everyone I have turned on to this loves it.
I make this a lot, but add my eggs to the mixture, along with hashbrown potatoes, then bake it and serve it up covered with sausage gravy....YUM!!!
