I work in a nursing home; we take the remaining water needed after factoring the free water provided by enteral formula, and then break them down between med flushes and bolus water flushes. Not hard, but we need to discuss with nurses how many med passes there are in all three nursing shifts in order to calculate the total volume of fluids provided during med passes. Then we can finally make rec's for bolus flushes. if 4 med passes are given; will be 60 ml water before/after med pass = 120 mls fluids x 4 med passes then we have 480 mls/fluids to subtract prior to making bolus flush recommendations.

    Hi. I have one query.
The formula which I use for enteral nutrition is Pentasure.
0.872kcal/ml, 42g pro/lt (100ml of reconstituted feed has 21g of formula.) For 2000kcal per day, I have calculated 2.293 lt of feed per day. For this doni need to add 481g of formula to 2.293 lt of water

Thanks for your question. This video is discussing the use of a ready to use enteral nutrition product. Pentasure is a powdered product and guidelines for reconstituting that product are provided by the product guidelines produced by the company. Following those product guidelines, you can calculate how much product and water is necessary.
