I have restored over 800 bikes in 36 years as a hobby. Never again. Watching this brings back PTSD. Nice bike BTW! No profit doing this. I made more on flips.
The going rate in my location for a scrap bike is $50 in the winter and about $70 in the summer tops, I've noticed. I want to try and buy scrap for $25, restore it and cross my fingers I can sell awesome bikes in the summer from $70 to $100 each. It'll all come down to the overall expenses on the restoration, but I can hopefully swing a 25 to a 60 profit per bike. It ain't gonna make me rich overnight but makes for a decent side hustle and hobby. My confidence level is about a 7, however it's definitely hard to argue someone who been doing it for 36 years, as I have zero experience lol. I figure worst case scenario, I flip and put a minimum amount into them. Just enough to get them up and running and that'd help cut expenses, but I'd love to work the full remodel if possible.
...mmm I pulled a TREK 7 4 out of the lake this summer - it had been in the water at least 3/4 of a year . I decided to tear it apart and rebuild it . Holy Cats the new parts - bearings - wheels - tires - brakes - derailer's - cables - chain - shifters - brake levers and the $55 dollar handle bar grips really add up to around $450 dollars just for the parts ...

Nice retro build! I like that you kept the parts from the same era as the frame. Did you know Trek will send you decals for the exact year? Saves the trouble of approximating.
I still have MTB with Trek 8500 2008 frame, top of their Aluminum line at a time. Mine was sold separately so has V-brake bosses and smooth welds. The frame in this video is 2007 model year I think, the last year with "ZR9000" on it. My 2008 is branded "Alpha Aluminum".

Paid in full after saving 5 single notes from.a years wage around 240 and a bunch of flowers for the Hispanic sister of ortiz and then she could not stop coming by for a chat or conversion as she had already seen me through the door out of the shower wondering about the bicycle until o told her as it came with a huge smile. good job of using the anti-seize on the bottom bracket and pedals. Most people don't do that and then when it comes the time when they have to change them out the pedals or bottom brackets are seized up.

19 из 20 видео о "восстановлении" велосипедов выглядят так: промыл керхером, болгаркой/напильником сдер лишнее, механику в растворителе покупал пару раз, вилке ноги помыл без полной разборки, пару раз пшикнул на раму краски из баллончика - готово)) И у этих "восстоновителей" сотни тысяч/миллионы подписчиков... А тут все по фэншую, можно смотреть как инструкцию))

Same with me, super relaxing! Something to keep in mind while riding bikes are helmets, I see lot of people still wearing cpsc helmets, when they should be wearing nta certified helmets like xnito or bern hudson, it's time to upgrade

I have Marin Palisades '02. The frame have been polished, haven't painted. It's better. This Trek was better before "restoration".

I was told never to grease the square bottom bracket taper. Only grease the threads.
