yes, I double checked with my Oakley supplier and he confirmed me that this is not to be considered a PPE of any kind, no matter which filter you use..
It's because Oakley is trying to release itself from any sort of liabilities associated from wearing the mask. Most masks out there, either reusable or disposable, wouldn't pass PPE by an EHS officer. They haven't gone through NIOSH tests. Even the much hyped UV Mask and Leaf Mask have had to state, contrary to their earlier claims, that their masks aren't FDA approved for protection against the Wuhan virus. It's backers are threatening to sue the companies for poor customer service and lying about the level of protection. I use a 3M half mask with P100 filters for work and in public. It's pretty much the highest level of protection out there besides a full PAPR kit. I'd still wear the MSK3 if offered. 😁
The mask fits well. In my opinion the ear straps are the weak link. They are either too loose or pull my ears down. They need a piece that goes behind the head for a better fit. I'm using a piece of paracord but some type of elastic would be better.
I'm going to need to disregard this Oakley mask. A perfect Oakley mask would included those anti fog features and would have sealed over a standard kn95 or n95 mask. You can't even buy the Oakley replacement filters on SI yet. I'll need to say no to this one for the time being.
Love the mask, fits and feels great. I cut straps of of my kn95 and it fits perfectly inside with the oakley filters too. No problems with fitment or breathing. It's a nice semi rigid structure to hold other filters in place. As for the 60 bucks....that's a personal choice. It's a representation of the year.

Believe it or not an employee at Disney gave me shit about it because it has a mesh outer layer. Stupid I know. They would not let me wear it even when I showed them it had the insert in it. I’m over the mask thing. Thought this would be a cool mask to have, and it is, in the cooler areas of the country.

Use the 3M Aura mask underneath this mask. No fogging. Double protection for Omicron...just cut the straps off the 3M mask and it can stay securely in the mask. I use Aurize mask strap extenders that cinches the mask tightly on my hat so that the mask is no hanging on my ears and pulling down on them

My understanding is that, while covid itself is 0.125 microns, that covid does not float around on its own. It needs a carrier. And that carrier is typically moisture droplets which are around 0.3 microns. I could be wrong though.

It's because the reusable one isn't supposed to really stop much of anything. The single-use one is for stopping things as small as .3 microns. The reusable one is for "pollutants". They assume if you want high performance, it can only be used once and should then be thrown away.

I’ve been looking for a high quality mask for awhile and this is the first that I’ve seen that seems to be quality. If anyone has any other recommendations please let me know.
The other higher quality mask I’ve seen is the Under Armor Sportmask. But it doesn’t quite solve the fogging problem. I haven’t seen pricing on the filters yet. But the reusable Oakley filter says it can only be hand washed up to 20 times. It’s pretty thin. So even that may be a stretch.

Love its design. With a COVID 19 virus with particle size of 125 nanometers (0.125 microns). Maybe we can put double layers?
