    Cedric the Entertainer said he saw the St Lunatics perform in the late 90s, and it was obvious that Nelly was the star of the group. Whether or not Ali is telling the truth, history has already proven that Nelly has that charismatic X factor that makes someone famous and Ali doesn't. Talent doesn't necessarily make you famous. You need to possess magnetic star power from your persona.

      Im from STL and saw the tics in various concerts before they came up back then nelly didnt have that style he had during his prime he rapped fast. No one stood out during that time. The first time i heard nelly new flow was when he released country grammar locally. We thought it was somebody else. The song blew up in STL then everybody knew who Nell was the star of the group.

    • @markshaw510

      If things would've worked Ali's way, then the St Lunatics album would've come first. Then producers, executives, and agents would've seen Nelly as the star of the group and offered him lucrative solo deals. The other members would've gotten offered less exciting solo deals. Soooo, pretty much the same thing would've happened. Just in a different order. I.e. Justin Timberlake and N*Sync, Beyonce and Destiny's Child, Sting and The Police, etc.

      @@kevinmiller2210 fascinating! I bet it took some time for Nelly to find himself as an artist. He probably owes some of that to Ali. Nevertheless, it certainly seems like Nelly did what he could to help Ali and the other Tics.

    Nelly and Ali both had essential roles in the St. Lunatics, and it's interesting to hear their individual stories and perspectives. It's clear that time has changed a lot, and emotions run deep. We can't rewrite history. The St Lunatics had a legendary run and the whole city was behind them.From old ladies in Clayton and Chesterfield to the hoods near Fairgrounds and the Northside everyone was behind them. It seemed meant to be because The Rams even won the Super Bowl the year the album dropped. Ali put the whole thing together though and everyone in St Louis knows who were around back then. I think Nelly just reached heights that even he didn't think was possible however I believe Ali saw endless potential in him as well as the group. But people WILL switch up when they're splitting a quarter billion out of nowhere I guarantee you that. It's unfortunate they can't work it out because they really had a family like chemistry and they are legends for putting St Louis on the map. Salute to the brother Ali. He was definitely flamboyant in his prime but he was a gifted business mind and no matter what he was apart of history and his voice and story should be heard. Hopefully they see how 50 Cent is selling out on tour because I definitely believe that The Lunatics could go on tour internationally and sellout various venues they had a ton of hits and are still played to this day and a closeout show in St Louis would definitely sell if promoted properly

    If you look back at the Country Grammar video, Nelly’s charisma was magnetic. He was a STAR! The label knew it, Cudda Love knew it. THIS was lightning in a bottle. At this time, no one was sounding like Nelly. So when it’s all said and done…Ali wouldn’t be doing this interview if it wasn’t for Nelly. They would have just been a local or regional group. The group knew backing Nelly and putting their ALL into Nelly’s first album was their SHOT. They all wrote and contributed to Country Grammar. And it worked, and everyone was happy. Then 10 to 20 years later…the budget decreased…and Nelly is the only one getting performance anr TV requests..etc….and Nelly couldn’t take everyone on a $50,000 gig…..somewhere along the way…the rest of the group should have monetized being a Lunatic or taking advantage of traveling around the world and meeting the biggest artists in the music biz. Not taking sides…the group is legendary…but not everyone should have had an exit plan. Nelly didn’t need an exit plan, because he can make six figures easy off of Country Grammar’s 10th, 20th, 25th anniversary etc. They should have sat down and figured out how EVERYONE eats forever…even if Nelly was still getting the biggest piece of the pie. I don’t think that ever happened…and here we are on Vlad TV

    They love to keep drama going and there was no drama to begin with. They’re trying to help someone who isn’t in the industry and want Nelly to help the individual but no one can. Ali needs to tend to his own life and stop causing problems. He’s a bully!

      Exactly, from hearing his Story and hearing Nellys side.. this guy just wanted to Ride off the Team/Talent anyway since he wasnt in the group at first & wanted to just "Manage". Then All those guys had Offers on the table to be Stars, Only Nelly & Murphy Lee took that opportunity.

  • @veautifulstranger

    My biggest question is if Ali knowingly and willfully signed the bad contract and told Nelly that he would be able to get him out of it, then why couldn't Ali get himself out of the contract? Because it seems to me that the only reason why Ali wasn't eating good off the saint lunatics music is because he signed over 100% of all future royalties to those shysters who signed him. So how is this Nellys fault that he's not being paid?

    • @jman1562001
      @jman1562001 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That ruins the narrative 😕...anything he contributed off the country grammar project went str8 to the local production company that he signed a bad deal with. Notice how he said in this interview that he skimmed the music business book kind like how he skimmed his own contract 😏😏😏. And if all this is true, why you need Nelly assistance for your album, you the mastermind behind the talent. What are you gaining from slandering Nelly publicly????? He helped all his guys get record deals and took money 💰 out of his deal to pay for the verses you wanted money upfront for smh. Man Nelly pretty much went above and beyond holding yall down, son just ain't capitalize.
