what concerns me about liverpool is, against manchester united, the reds had only 48% possession, in a system that's based on possession. can't do that against arsenal or manchester city; those teams will destroy a back line. liverpool have to play with stifling possession against all comers, especially arsenal and manchester city. dozo deciding not to make it 0-4 from point-blank range kept liverpool from going the top of the table.
A lot of the Man U dominance of possession was in the first 20 minutes or so before the TAA non-goal.

I also think Slot has brought back the high pressing that Liverpool used to do under Klopp. When Liverpool were at their best under Klopp, the pressing was high and constant, but slowly over the years all the players got older and we didnt bring in new midfielders with more energy, so we couldnt keep the pressing up and i think Klopp had to ease up on the pressing and had to change his tactics.
Now its back and the defence seems stronger then ever and the attack is flowing also and they all seem to be full of confidence. Its looking promising for this season and greatful Klopp left this club in a good situation with a great bunch ofplayers for Slot to work with.

If its "not the shape" then why did 4-3-3 work so well against City in the cup final? We are outnumbered in midfield game after game because we effectively play with 2 more defensive midfielders and Bruno (who isn't really a midfielder at all). United should play with a more solid and compact 3 (as we didn't against City) and build from there. It's more solid and more balanced.

Is XG just a bullshit statistic then? Because 1.4 to 1.7 wouldn’t say that one team “dominated” the other.
XG is absolutely bs, but Zirkzee missed 2 chances that together would absolutely be close to 1 xG at least, so that doesn't help ManU. But it also means they created 2 serious chances in the entire game. I would say the Liverpool goals were all chances I would expect them to score, despite not being massive jumps in xG. Liverpool, unlike ManU, had at least 3 further (solid) opportunities to score, so I'd argue "dominated" is the correct term.
To come back to xG being bs, I believe shots blocked just after attacking contact don't count for xG, so the Szoboszlai chance at the 5 meter line won't have counted + there are a lot of things xG (or possession) stats don't tell you, such as touches in the opposing box, intensity of play, where you have your possession, etc.
Btw please correct me if I'm wrong about the blocked shots and xG, although my opinion of it being bs won't change xd

Sadly, Rashford is taking the blame for this when his many crosses made him United's MotM but the media and fans want to see him fail.
Trashford wouldn’t start or make the bench for any top 6 team. He’s got a bad attitude and poor work ethic.
