My favourite bit was where you ran past LIDL and the lyrics in the song that was playing said ...so Lidl.. 😂 14:34

    Happy New Year mate.
I agree, who does that on Christmas Day? 😂 Solid training. 💪
Kailas gear looks interesting and like you say, if it's good enough for Scotty Hawker... Can't say I've ever seen it in sale over here though so interested to hear your thoughts.
    Another great video. 👍

Lol this idiot 🙄 Very impressed with KAILAS so far the gear is right up there with the best manufacturers in Europe for me. You have to order direct from them I believe mine took about 10 days to arrive. Next weeks video share my first impressions

Enjoyed that, my interval training is less strenuous than that.... But I'm 49 and my targets are different! And nice one for getting out on festive days! A bit envious to be honest 😁

Thanks mate and that is exactly why I am hesitant sometimes to show too much of my training because it’s hard to convey the background needed to do these sessions safely and it should only be done for certain types of development

Loving the content Darren, any shout for coming across the Irish sea for a race or two?

Thanks mate, and never really considered racing over the water. Certainly not something I’d rule out but so many to go at more local at present 😊

Really enjoying these training week catchups - thanks for posting. Interesting show - the lacing system reminds me of the higher end cycling shoes you can get that have laces on a dial you rotate to tighten them. Happy new year!

Thanks that’s great to hear. It’s more niche content so trying to find a good mix. The shoes are very interesting and the tightening system you refer to they actually incorporate (in a way) in their hydration vest more on this next week

Another fantastic video. You're killing it right now. Was it a complete road run in the Ultra Glides, or did you head off road? I was curious to see which road shoes you used, still yet to discover whether you own any! 😅

Thanks mate, funny you mention road shoes I have one, 3 year old pair of saucony endorphins I hardly ever use. There was a very small section of trail but almost all road in that but I didn’t want to go into a ‘dead’ shoe for my first hard terrain run in a while as it’s seen better days. Turns out I was right to worry bout how the impact would affect my body, you’ll see why next week 🙄

@@DarrenSmithTrailRunningreally sorry to hear this! As a runner that's been battling an injury throughout the year and a half they've been running, I can definitely relate! So frustrating when we do everything by the book and it still bites us in the backside. I hope it's nothing serious, but curious to hear what's gone down. I live in Essex so there are very few trails, I do roads in the week and trails at the weekend. Just had a great NY break to the Peak District for 50 miles of hills, loved every minute of it! 🙌

Its part of the process but haven't helped myself in fairness, physio this week to see what the crack is, not the way I'd like to start 2022 but just need to do everything right now.
