      @GodLovesComics - 😊👍
      By the way, I'd first heard the 🎵"Na na-na na na"🎵 part in a song called 'In Love Again' by an Australian band called Rogue Traders, and it was only when I played it to a friend who then recognised it that I found out they'd actually lifted it from Tears For Fears! 😅
      That was maybe 15 years ago, and strangely, I'd never heard 'Head Over Heels' before then! It must've not been very popular in Germany!? (where I'd grown up. I live in NZ now) 🙂

    • @GodLovesComics
      @GodLovesComics วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@mightyV444 Head Over Heals is a beautiful song, but I think it was probably the third single from that album and was just overshadowed by the massive popularity of Shout and Everybody Wants To Rule...So it's not terribly surprising that you wouldn't have heard it. I don't remember if I heard any of those songs on the radio, but instead knew them solely from the heavy rotation on MTV.

    Tears for Fears is peak Gen X music. Long slow build-up that requires you to pay attention the song, but absolutely worth it in the pay off, like In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins.

    Love Tears for Fears. I think you are correct that they don't get enough recognition. They had more hits than a lot of people realize. I think you should check out their song Mad World. Has more of a pop sound. It was covered in 2001 by Gary Jules and used in the movie Donnie Darko. That version is stripped down and a hair slower. You should listen to both on here or on your own. Keep up the good work.

    The 80's was a great time to grow up with music...as for why some bands just aren't well know its not a slight on the band at all....more because fans had SOOOO MUCH talent to choose from!!....like it was mad how many brilliant artists never really went much further then the 80's or 90's in peoples minds. But a lot of those artists (from that era) are still making art or helping the next generation make art just in the background...which is natural in my books. Doesn't take anything away from them to not be in the front lime light. good reaction cheers

    Another great reaction! A big part of the recently-turned-50-me will always be transported immediately back to the Tears For Fears Years. My favorite track by them is "Change' from their first album in 1983 "The Hurting."" Other classics are: "Pale Shelter, The Hurting, Memories Fade, Suffer The Children, Sowing The Seeds Of Love, Woman In Chains"; I just got back into them in early 2024 with the re-formation of the band, and they can still belt out a song...

      Oh and the members of the band are Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal on vocals and Manny Elias on the drums (who nearly always gets completely overlooked because of the amazing vocals and sing competitions). They were formed in Bath, England in the early 80s. There's a really amazing documentary video on the band that was recently reacted to on the JJLA Reacts channel that is eye opening and even being in my formative years and knowing the band when just getting into music I just didn't realise was the reason for some of their music choices. He doesn't tend to show much music in his reactions as I guess he wants to stay monetised so they're probably safe to watch.

    Their vocals perfectly compliment each other when harmonizing, but definitely Roland (the guitarist) sings with an enormous amount of fire and passion which gives their music some needed rock edge. This song and "Everybody wants to Rule The World" were monster hits globally, so I'm amazed there's still people left who haven't heard them before. Love to see you react to The White Stripes "Icky Thump' and "Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground" (Saturday Night Live version is mindblowing); and The Strokes "You Only Live Once" (Official video); and "Reptilia (BST Hyde Park 2015)".

I like your reaction, you are right when you say they deserve more recognition. Now to stay in the 80s I think you have the band "Pet shop boys" left. Good

    Time to go down the Tears for Fears Rabbit Hole, Biss:
    1. Working Hour (My Favorite. The layered soundscape is just unbelievable. And it has one of the Best Sax in a song ever. And I know you love Sax.)
    2. Advice for the Young at Heart
    3. I Believe (The first 3 Songs I suggested are Jazz. Tears for Fears is a Synth-Pop/Rock Band, but they created some of the best jazz songs ever.)
    4. Head Over Heels/Broken (One of their most well-known song.)
    5. Break it Down Again
    6. Elemental (Songs 4,5,6 are Anthems. So if you want the closest to Shout, these are the songs to react to.)
    7. Sowing the Seeds of Love (If the Queen's A Little thing Called Love is the Best Elvis Song not sung by Elvis, then this is The Beatles' equivalent.)
    8. Mad World (Their most covered song. You probably heard a version of this already.)
    9. Pale Shelter
    10. Change (Songs 8,9,10 are the best Synth-Pop/Rock representation of their discography.)

    Firstly - you must react to Head Over Heels by this band ! It struck a chord with me what you mentioned about this band. I think for unknown reasons certain singers and bands get forgotten about. Maybe the sheer wealth of musical riches we had during the 80s kind of works against it. People go for the Duran Duran or the Madonna mostly from the era. But Tears for Fears do not get consistent coverage on YT I agree. There are even more bands like this and it could also be the Atlantic divide we had back then. A lot of great songs from the UK never made it to the US and vice versa.

    They certainly were big in the 80's all over the world. They're a British band but in the U.S. "Shout" hit #1, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" hit #1, "Head Over Heels" hit #3, and "Sowing the Seeds of Love" hit #2. But I agree with you, more love needs to be shown to them.

    November 1984 - I was 14 years old and remember when the song was released and I heard it the first time in radio (yes - people used to listen to radio back then in Germany cause we didnt have MTV yet - and we really listened to certain radio shows on weekly basis).
    Tears For Fears was already very known from their first album and some singles. This was their biggest hit in Germany. It was HUGE - no 1 for many weeks. Of course I had the "single" (yes - in Germany we called the 7" version also "singles" back than - crazy shit) and I did buy the album a few years later as CD.
    This song is kind of therapeutical release. Shout it all out - every anger, pain, frustration, disappointment... let it all out. It somehow makes me often really cry cause it connects me directly to my pain as teenager. And everybody who didnt have pain as teenager I guess did something wrong 😀
    It's not quite a dance song but you somehow directly want to move to the crazy good percussion.
    Many others already suggests almost every Teasr For Fears song every recorded 😀- and yes... you can pick almost any song from the second and third album and many songs from the others.
    I guess my three fav songs of them are quite not often wanted als all from the third album:
    Year of the Knife
    Badmans Song
    Swords and Knives
    The last one actually isn't that good but for me it has some elements in the mid (guitar and chorus) that create such a huge feeling of longing and desire in me... crazy what music can do to our brain 🙂
    Thank you like always for all your content. Can't watch often on Twitch but I am glad that you have so much success with your content that you constantly put out wonderful stuff.
    Like always wish you all the best possible fir your channels/streams and your whole life 🙂

    "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" was the band's first, and IMO, best hit. It was also one of the featured songs in the soundtrack for the film, "Real Genius" which was the film debut of Val Kilmer (the movie is actually very entertaining and merits a watch). This song has distinctive opening bars. In the future, as soon as you hear the opening, you know the song. "Head Over Heels" I believe was the band's second hit. They were a solid band, but they came out when Wham! arrived, so they were kind of pushed into the background a bit.

      @@mightyV444 The band may have written and released it in 1982, but it only reached no. 3 on the UK charts and it pretty much fell into the abyss in the US where it was never released as a single. It was the 2001 cover version, the more popular, slower moody paced version, that made the song a global hit.

    Roland Orzabal is his name, and I'm with you. I love his voice, but Curt Smith is great too, and they really did work so well together. I think next you should check out "Sowing The Seeds Of Love" th-cam.com/video/VAtGOESO7W8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gt1XoriaH6qjrx9x It's a little bit newer than most of their songs that you're likely to be suggested, and by that I mean only a few years newer, but closer to when Curt Smith originally left the band and ended their long time partnership that really was what Tears For Fears was, and Roland Orzabal took over creative control, and you'll also see a little bit of change in their look and style. Plus, it's just a really good song!
    They were really huge in like the mid 80s, and they do get reacted to, but I was a child when they were really big, and I always dug them, but they're one of those bands where now that I'm older, I can really appreciate how amazing they were.

    • @richiecabral3602
      @richiecabral3602 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @mightyV444 yeah, Curt Smith went off and did his own thing for a long time, and I think there were periods where neither of them really had that much going on, and life stuff, but they eventually reconnected, and recently have been producing new stuff again. I don't know the exact timeline of it all, but they hooked up together at a pretty young age, as teenagers, were really close and were pretty tight as a creative partnership, then fame and craziness hit, the usual stuff happens, and I think Curt just wanted to be on his own for once and away from the craziness, and Roland became more controlling about the creative direction of what he wanted to do, he did some more albums as Tears For Fears without him, as well as some separate stuff, and whatever. I think I'd heard that they didn't talk for like 9 years after Curt first left. Then I think there was a long process of reconnecting here and there, maybe working on a little something together now and then, but I think them really getting back together has maybe happened over the past handful of years?

    • @mightyV444
      @mightyV444 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @richiecabral3602 - Thank you for all that info! 😀👍 And I think that's fairly accurate, too! I'd listened to interviews with both Curt and Roland (separately) on the 'Rockonteurs' channel a while ago, and I remember them talking about their difficulties, their split and eventual reunion 🙂
