I wish someone had given me that advice earlier on in my life. My parents told me to go out there and do my best....yet the subliminal message I got from my highly intelligent Jamaican father through his actions was: never suffer a fool and never be afraid to let people know that you are the smartest person in the room.....whether or not that was quantifiably true. I found out the hard way that it never pays to let your dimwitted new boss discover that you are demonstrably smarter than they and all their new hires. I needed a slice of 'be humble pie' in my tool kit midway through my career.
