I’m glad you showed the Seiko Turtle PADI dive watch! I have this watch with a blue dial and love it!

Great video! Living in S. Florida, our year round temperatures are: warm , hot, hotter and surface of the sun 😂. A popular choice here and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean for semi formal events is the guayabera shirt and linen trousers. I recall that, in my childhood, men would wear this on Sundays, usually with a nice pair of spectator shoes. I own a few of these classic shirts in short and long sleeve models and linen trousers. I haven't made the leap to spectators yet, but a nice derby or loafer looks very sharp.

Boat/ Deck shoes too are extremely stylish for the summers.....A nice one in dark brown or navy blue

No gentleman wears a short sleeve shirt other than when he is playing sports.

Hmmmmmm, shorts ? very dodgy in my opinion :) Very few blokes will have the physique to carry them beyond say their 30th year, and the length issue is even dodgier ? Personally I'd only wear them for legitimate shorts wearing activities, say walking or hiking, and would also tend towards more Afrika Korps than Bombay Bloomer length. Also, get the knees brown, shorts and white legs is not a good look :)

I would agree to a certain extent, but I'm 50 and still very happily enjoy wearing shorts casually. They are clearly not for everyone, but in the summer they serve a vital function.

Hello Ash, I'm having a bit of a binge watch of your films today. This one should be made compulsory viewing before "going abroad"... Snow white skin with red stripes glistening with factor 50 cream is not a good look for anyone. If this film saves just one person from making that mistake, it will have been worth it 🤣.

I live in SE Texas. AKA the 57th level of HELL.
Dressing as I like to dress, people always ask my "Aren't you hot and sweaty?"
My reply: I could be wearing nothing but a thong, sunscreen and a smile, and I would be hot and sweaty. I might as well be the best dressed man in the room

Great tips, Ash! Though I would recommend leather sandals in the summer, with the kind that cover the toes. Also good for the feet to air out in the Summer to avoid athlete's foot and other fungal/ bacterial infections. Some look really good.

Excellent points made & taken. Now, when you live in North Georgia [USA] with summertime humidity, even linen hangs on you like a wool blanket. Dang it is miserable and a chore to look/feel well appointed.

Hello, wanted to ask you. Have you ever heard of British Walker (Shoes)? They look like Desert Boots except in leather with a strap and horseshoe buckle. Thanks in advance.

    • @TheChapsGuide

I must admit that I am unfamiliar with the brand and I see from their web presence, that they are modestly priced. I can only assume they are a simply constructed shoe and hence can sell so cheaply. Give it a try - what have you got to loose.

@@TheChapsGuide Thanks for the update. I am considering having these shoes made for myself. Any idea of what a fair price would be for an ankle high hand made pair of shoes?

Ive looked everywhere for an unlined summer jacket but to no avail. All the major dept stores only carry cotton(if you are lucky, most are some poly blend) and they are all full lined in polyester which defeat the whole purpose. Alabama summer days are always 90F+ w & high humidity. I hate to spend bespoke money at a classy mens shop for such a casual item but it looks like thats where I'm gonna have to go.
I guess it might be doable for a taylor to remove a lining, but heck I have a hard time even finding someone to hem my britches these days.

Just sharing my experience... A straw Panama is lighter and not as warm as a paper 'toyo straw' hat. I prefer a linen unconstructed sports coat for the same reason: weight. A classic watch looks nice on a Milanese strap (metal). Unlined suede loafers are nice to wear in summer.

Sterling ideas - all incredibly valid. Just wish our summers here in the UK merited those warm weather clothes more often.
