I've read both stories over 50 years ago and I was scared after reading them. Ray was not only a great SF writer, he was a master of suspense. Great broadcast!
Two of Ray Bradbury s story's I've neither read or seen before . 😎👍📻👍 Thank you ❤️ for sharing . Seems that a possible future , was seen by Ray Bradbury , as we've almost got automated homes , connected to the internet of everything - 2022 . "Alexia " Amazon's home invader , is capable of sharing your internet connection , which isn't good , like some of it's other infamous bits of advice , that have gone public . Namaste 🙏
The crap? Why is Dimension X spliced in here? Were you not able to find the full X-1 episode which contains both of these stories? I'm like 90% sure it exists.
Not sure what you're talking about, but all the logs I've looked at indicate that this broadcast, December 5, 1956, was both stories. See Wikipedia, for example.
It’s not the Dimension X version. It’s the almost identical X Minus One version of both stories, just as they did a bunch of others. “The Roads Must Roll” for example.

It was the most gorgeous story in the whole book. This is a good radio drama. But, it misses the real poetry of the original story.
This was the SAME episode presented on "DIMENSION X" on June 17, 1950. Wendell Holmes was the "robot voice" in "There Will Come Soft Rains."
Wendell Holmes had a great voice for these shows

I remember reading that story in English class in 7th Grade. It was a sad parable about technology in a post-apocalypse world. 😢
Wow! Self-heating blankets!
