Hello everyone! Today we are filling an entire sketchbook spread with gouache paintings! This was so refreshing and fun to do. I'm glad to be back to using gouache again! Do you prefer acrylic gouache or regular gouache?

New stickers and prints in the shop! shopjelarts.com/
Loved that full page crow illustration! It's so stunning. I love traditional/reworkable gouache - for much the same reasons as you.
Thank you so much! traditional gouache is the besttt haha
I love how you said to take a break from art for however long you need. I struggle from getting too focused on something and doing it everyday which eventually leads to me burning out really fast and not going back to it for a very long time. I noticed that I work better when I take breaks from art for a day or two then jump back in, but almost every video out there says to practice art everyday so I would do exactly that. When you said you take breaks it made me realize that there are other artists out there who don't draw everyday and are still amazing at art! :)
Thank you for taking the effort to find out who took the photograph reference! Photographers are often overlooked despite the fact that many of us draftsmen use photo reference almost daily. In this age, proper artist credit is more important than ever, and I love to see more and more artists taking the time to credit each other properly for reference, inspiration etc, so we can all discover each other and learn from each other : )
I use your videos as my rest (away from writing music). Seeing you create is a pleasure and a motivation. I'm in a going out phase. Museums, parks and concerts, it does help alot. Thanks for all that you share, your art is amazing!
Jackdaw appreciation! They're so incredibly common here (in the Netherlands), but I rarely see them mentioned. Whenever I see an actual crow I'm startled by how big they are in comparison to their jackdaw cousins
don't you think 'Jackdaw' sounds so much cooler than 'Kauw'? We got the short end of the stick
Jelarts is always my best therapy for helping my anxiety
so excited to see a new video! always love seeing how you use different media and how you incorporate such nice textures and colors into your pieces. you’ve honestly reignited my love for traditional art and helped me learn to sketchbook again
I remembered when you converted over to just drawing animals and you were like I know this isn't very popular but this is what I like to draw. Good for you. I love watching your colorful art
love the shop update!!!!!!!!!!
We have tons of jackdaws in Sweden, sometimes there are hundreds sitting one roof and they all fly at the same time making big parts of the sky turn black with some just parts of the sky coming through, a bit scary but also cool.
I gasped out loud when I saw that you uploaded a video! It looks really good ❤
Thank you so much!
I love the deer and the jackdaw!
I've never used acryla gouache, but I've been enjoying using regular gouache with my watercolor paintings.
I've been in a major art slump recently, so this was a wonderful, inspiring video! I personally l really enjoy working with gouache, and I have a very different process from watercolors for it because I really love when it is a maximum opacity. Anyway, I use jelly gouache so I never need to rewet.
I love how the spread turned out! All of the colors and textures look so pretty🩶
ahh thanks!!
Playing this in the background while I prepare for my first (sort-of) market where I'll be selling art. Glad to be drawing with you! (:
I love the way you paint with gouache like it's watercolour, it gives such unique effects 🥰
Gouache is like watercolour and acrylic so it's pretty normal lol
@@Ecarg476 true but most of the time I see it used thick like acrylic so it’s just nice to see it used watery
@@ChantelleArts oh OK fair enough
a shop update and a video!!! and on my birthday no less!!!! i love all the art you do and its very inspiring
The talens art creation sketchbooks are so fun! I was also surprised how well it dealt with watercolors, I finished one of these sketchbooks few years back and I’m excited to use it again someday :D Loved all the art in this video!
I've really been struggling with my mental health, I just found your channel yesterday. Watching your videos make me feel free from my worries, they're very calming. :)
What a beautiful spread ❤😊
Glad to hear you're enjoying this sketchbook! I also use the same one currently (it's under a different brand, but they are the same as art creation ones). About the width of the book - I also find it inconvenient that they are a bit narrower than the proper A5 size! And I wasn't able to find any other brands that offer the real A5 sized books, until a local brand released a new line of sketchbooks that actually features it! The paper quality should be the same as in the art creation books. I ordered one already, very excited to try it out!
P.S.: the crow (jackdaw) drawing turned out lovely, the way you draw distinct yet cohesive and colorful shapes is so nice to look at 🌱
How crazy is that? The other day, I saw the same photo on Pinterest and made a drawing with it too! Beautiful art and greattt video
Wow crazy! I think it's getting popular on Pinterest atm
😁😁
😍 Love your art style!
Your art style mega inspires me every time :) I recently got a smart idea to buy cute chopstick rests from ebay to rest my paint brush on if it is dirty or loaded with paint and I need to put it down for whatever reason and because they are porcelain they both act as decorations, mascots, and potential paper weights if I ever need it haha! I've been working really hard on studying color theory and the longer I work on it the more I fall in love with your use of color. Thank you for being such an inspiration :) If you are on the scout for animals the patagonian mara might be fun, or the secretary bird, or golden pheasant, or diamondback terrapin interpreted into your color scheme. Have a great week :)
Never been this early ! I am just now going into my gouache phase, I love how vibrant they are (my cotman watercolors aren't) and how versatile they can be !! Excited to see what you do with them in thid video :)
Gouache is SO versatile!! Hope you enjoy!
I love this spread ! Fellow Canadian 😊 I really love your style of drawing and how you use mixed media ❤
ove the feathers on the corvid 🥰
Cute
If you're looking for a square sketchbook with paper that can take a beating i would recommend the Ohuhu mixed media sketchbook (not to be confused with their market sketchbook). It has heavy 200gsm paper, a lot of pages, and comes in a square format. It comes in either the spiral or bound form.
I really enjoyed your gouache era!! love watching you paint!
How cute❤️
Perfect ❤
The paintings are so pretty. Love the purples of the bird especially!
Looove your videos, they are so inspiring!
Really enjoyed the video!❤
lovely!
I love your style of are. I am so jelly. I love both spreads. I just think crows are so cute.
Beautiful
So do you think you could make a video on tips n how to use gouache for beginners? I recently got the himi gouache but I’m desperate because I feel I haven’t used them as they should since I’m more used to watercolor. Also it’d be great to know how you draw animals! Love your art btw 🫶🫶
I just bought some gouache (the regular kind) and i'm loving it so far!
your art is so inspiring and unique always looking foward to a new video:))
ahhh seeing a new video from you always makes my day !!!
So happy to hear that :)
Yayyyy ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉
SUch lovely art! I like that youre being a rebel and using WET watercolour on this paper. I really think it hates it, but worth it for the asmr crinkles ^_^
May I ask which shade of Prismacolor you are using for your sketch? It's really lovely!
My go to material is dry media, color pencil, marker, mechanical pencil.. finished art is color pencil or digital art...
your crow drawing reminds me so much of an eagle going to pick up a snake to eat it 😅😅😅
To add on to the advice of doing something productive art related but not the actual art.
Organize supplies
Declutter supplies
Look at unfinished projects decide if you want to finish them
Clean your craft area or bag or box whatever
Find a new inspiration if u ususally draw people try plants
Plan a project and set it up as a kit i like to sew i have a few ideas for blankets so i would gather any fabric i would need from what i have and write down what i need to finish it
I took a break from art and never came back sniff
I really want to paint more in my sketchbooks, especially with gouache, but i’m too worried about how much time it will take
I love your drawings new sub here
