Had a fuel pump issue a mont ago with a relatively new stove and I sent the fuel pump back for replacement. I let MSR know that I was on a time crunch to get the pump back due to a hard deadline for a huge camping trip and they rushed the replacement out to me. Good customer service and the stove works like a mule. Great system.
Your videos encouraged me to buy the Universal, only used white gas trying isobutane clicked the vid was real glad to see you good times and god bless buddy from Canada.
When running canister gas on this stove: You can run the canister upright on warmer days than 20 or 30 deg. F. In winter when the canister doesn't want to run in extreme cold, you can start the stove with the canister upright, and after maybe half a minute, flip the canister upside down to do liquid feed for the burner. The hot stainless loop in the blue flames will ensure vapor reaches the jet. So, upside down = winter running
When I had my Whisperlite gas, and Svea 123, I primed them with liquid alcohol. It was cleaner, and didn't have a big sooty flame. I since found out that these hand sanitizers (gel), have up to 80% alcohol, and make great primers. Safer, clean and hot.
@@jiujitsu2000 no kidding?!! Wow. That's amazing! I am a fulltime suv dweller and I currently use the MSR Rocket 2. Only thing I dont like about it is I cant cook without getting a center burn on my pan. One day, I am going to own a Whisperlite Universal stove and cook everything I want. I had tried to bake a biscuit with the Rocket but didnt quite do it.
I used UG jet (petroleum) with gaz canisters, it works but power is weak, burning time is longer, I wonder what if I don't use any jet when using gaz canisters ( remove all jets).
because the gas can when you invert it will put liquid fuel through the line and if that copper loop isnt heated first you'll have liquid gas coming out faster than it can burn
thanks brotha. I need to pick up 2 more stoves to put in my other vehicles. where did you buy yours, and how much do they run.. Thanks for your great content, and have a great day!
thank you brotha, you can find this on Amazon. I got mine at REI. there whisperlite universal ruins around $140, but you can get the whisperlite international for $90. it's the exact same stove, but it doesn't use the ISO pro fuel canisters. it's liquid fuel only and will burn just about anything.
what is the average run time for each fuel on a full amount of fuel from the highest flame to the lowest flame in your experience just wanted to know :)

Nice review. Although posted some time ago, still nice to get a comprehensive view on this stove.

Thank you, God bless you!! Much love from Arizona
The U is for Universal. In field repair kits, you have IK and IG for International, another stove.
I appreciate the effort you put into this series. This has really helped me make a decision on this piece of kit. Thanks!
WoodlandChaplain Thank you!

Thanks for the reviews on these stoves, a great bit of detail, just what I needed to help me choose a replacement for my 533.
533 is still an excellent stove it's not running right they can be repaired
@@jiujitsu2000 it's been a fantastic stove to be honest, I just wanted something else to try, a bit smaller for a brew stop on my walks.

I love using hand sanitizer. It works great!
The jets on the original whisperlites did not have the U prefix. The U is there to designate they're for the newer model.
MSR WhisperLite Universal: UC = Universal Canister, UG = Universal Gas, UK = Universal Kerosene.
I want one of those canister fuel valves.
I am guessing with the long fuel line it would use up alot of fuel.
Not really. This one's very fuel efficient!

Hi! I want to know why we have to prime the stove with the canister upwright, then you can put it down...Thanks Guylaine (From Québec, Canada)

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
Does anyone know if i can use the UC valve with the UG jet on a MSR XGK EX instead of a Whisperlite Universal?
No, the xgk ex isn't threaded to accept the uc valve that i know of
@@jiujitsu2000 ok thanks for a fast answer
Can you retrofit older whisperlite stoves to burn canister fuel?
Excellent review, does any part of this stove (when running from the canister) get so hot that it would burn a foot print/ground sheet?
+studentj4ck thank you, it's a great stove, it does get hot. Maybe set it on something
Can you use Coleman canisters on these
I would guess the canister fuel burns the cleanest. Maybe there will be the least maintenance using it.
+robalan57 yeah I think you're right canister fuel is clean burning
Do you know if the WindPro II performs better than the Whisperlite Universal using a canister since it was built just for a canister?
Very nice stove!
+lonestarrider Yes brotha, I love this stove!
thanks brotha.

+shotgunlove1979 I think the MSR website says that info., These stoves burn for quite a while on a small bottle of fuel. thank you!
AWESOME SWEET ASH!!!!!!!!!!!

Are the fuel canisters a one time use or can you refill them?
+FreeinMT S I can refill them. I'll be releasing a video on that in the future. thank you!
