FLCL nostalgia aside, they practically play the songs as well live as they do the studio versions, but with amazing energy for the live performance. What a great band honestly
Boy do I have a story about this concert. I was so desperate to see the pillows I managed to sneak past security and see this show (all shows instantly sold out), and because I earned it, it was the most gratifying concert I've ever been to, I was nearly tearing during the show and I still almost shed a tear thinking back. As some might know, tickets sold out near instantly when they went on sale and I was devastated I couldn't get tickets, it was on my bucket list to see this band and I was tearing my hair out for months checking the website daily looking for added tour dates but there were none. I was depressed nearly every day leading up to the show thinking I'd have to fly to japan to see them. The day of the show came and my work finished early and I almost went home before my gut told me to just go to the venue anyway and see if anything could happen. My gut also told me to grab a sharpie and plastic bag just in case so I did(never been to the venue before). I get there asking people if they have tickets to sell and of course nobody did, but that didn't matter because the desperation was building now that I was RIGHT THERE at the damn show, I needed this in my life no matter what. I noticed people chilling outside smoking cigs and I asked one if there was a handstamp and there was (luckily, always listen to your gut). Dude let me take a picture of his, and I copied it on the bag then smudged it into my wrist to fake it, then promised to buy him beer if I saw him inside (never did, but i still remember you bro). I walked through security and flashed them my wrist, the lady made some face like she was squinting at my stamp and thats exactly when I swung my arm down and booked my ass down the corridor and into the crowd before she could stop me. From there I went straight to the middle of the crowd and didnt move one goddamn step until the pillows started. I was so overcome with euphoria from what I achieved that I was just the happiest man alive the whole time, easily my #1 concert ever. Oh, and I started the moshpits and crowdsurfing during Advice because nobody else was lol you're welcome. you can see me at 1:08:36 tl;dr If you want something bad make it happen, also listen to your gut
that's crazy that you pulled that off and got away with it. If I were wearing a hat as I type this, I'd be tipping it to you. Also, I see security was not having any of it with the mosh pit and crowd surfing lol
I tried gettin friends to come with but no one was available so I went by myself. Manabe took the time to look at everyone in the eyes and thank them as the show ended; For a brief moment he looked at me and nodded and it was something I'll take to my grave. Such an amazing show and an even more amazing band. Omg I saw myself at 5:03 in the upper floor!
1:02:05 - "THANK YOU, MY TWILIGHT." I discovered this song on MySpace way back in 2005/6, after I became a Pillows fan thanks to FLCL and had started looking for more of their music. I ran into a fan account that had this as one of the songs playing on their profile, and it quickly became one of my favorites by the band. I knew it came out after the show was made, but I thought that if it had only been made a few years prior, it would have easily fit in. Come 2018, sequel to the original comes out, and literally the very first sound you hear in the show are those iconic opening notes. Even if that show didn't hit quite like the original, I LOVE that people in the US finally know this song.
If I were there I think I would tear up lmao I love this band so much they were literally the band i would listen to in my high school days so much memories and nostalgia
I was in that mosh pit for the last 10 minutes and god it was awesome to shove to 'Advice' Thanks for recording man, I've been going to the Pillows in SF since '06 and love watching for memories!
I came all the way from Texas to check these guys out at this show and it was one of the best I've been to! I was at the front probably just a couple of peeps away to the tight from you, thanks for posting this and sorry if I was singing obnoxiously loud! haha
Great for recording dude. I wanted to record but I saw ur fancy camera and decided to just enjoy the show. Thanks for taking the time . It let me focus on the show.
The new flcl season was one of the worst animes I've seen but I sure do love the pillows. If you didn't learn from that new Harry Potter book, dragon Ball super... Never let another artist carry on your legacy.
andrewhajipour40 Rip to Akira Toriyama. If you didn't learn yet Toriyama was heavily involved in writing the overall story for Dragon Ball Super. Before he passed away he did not just let Toyotarou take over. Dragon Ball Super. Toyotarou had to first get approval from Toriyama to create characters designs etc. Please research before you say things. Thanks.
On another note the FLCL series were not the best animes they were short and okay. I agree music from The Pilllows made the series somewhat better. The music would be good even if there was no FLCL anime at all.

Almost saw them last year in Summer, but Covid hit. And it was cancelled. I was so excited but I tried not to get my hopes up too much. It would have been so nice to see them.

This video is most suitable for telling people how cool Sawao-san and the pillows are.

This is awesome that you got to do this. It kinda fits in with some of the themes of FLCL. You gotta swing your bat if you're gonna hit a home run
Man that's crazy next time I'll listen to my gut too

Idk, that's also how you get things like the new DOOM soundtrack or fallout new vegas.
Logan Young that's true. I guess in some cases it works.
Lulz, Star Wars suffered the same fate.

How surprising was it being right where the crowd surfing was going? Get kicked in the head at all? I was glad to be in the balcony during that. lol
Boris The Soviet Love-Hammer nope but my hat flipped all the way around from one of those kicks lol
Same here! I sped up to the balcony as soon as I got there. XD
最後のLast Dinosaurやばいな。ありえんほど興奮する。
今のライブが一番安定感あるな
