It's amusing that in one of the news clips in this video, the anchor describes it as "little by little over 20 years". 2.7 million per year is not "little by little", especially in a town of 15,000 people. She likely didn't start right at 2.7 million, and instead only took 10's or 100's of thousands for the first few years. Meaning that in later years she was taking far more than 2.7 million.
How in the world does that go unnoticed in a town of 15,000? What even is the budget of a town that size? I could see someone getting away with a couple hundred thousand at the very most, but 54 million???????

Looks like arrogance and unrepentant behavior runs in the family. This thief is anything but repentant or sorry for her crimes. That’s clear by her protesting of the sentence she received, and her feeling that it was too harsh. The only thing she’s sorry about was getting caught. In her mind she probably knew she would eventually be caught, but expected it would be a slap on the wrist. Which further indicates her arrogance, lack of remorse, and premeditation. She’s a criminal. A convicted felon that stole from every single taxpayer in that town, then flaunted her ill gotten wealth like she was the one that earned it! She should be behind bars working off the proceeds at $3.00 a day until her time is served.

You can believe that all you want but that’s mostly emotion talking or some people are fed miss information. First, from the founding of this country it’s always been that accused criminals have rights. You’re sending them to prison so you’re supposed to make sure you get it right. Second, respectfully I can tell that you are not very knowledgeable on criminal law. Because if you talk to defense attorneys and prosecutors or even go observe hundreds of trials you will notice that prosecutors often have the red carpet rolled out for them because of all the judicial rules. But defense attorneys have to fight twice as hard to maybe get half the power if they’re lucky.

Unlike larger cities, there is often little or no outside oversight to government or public employees. It is not their fault, but we all have to do better than to be uniformed in an age of always available information.

Dixon also got a settlement of $40 million from the accounting firm. So 40 million plus selling everything she said she owned still doesn't quite come up with the 54 million dollars that she stole.
It seems pretty likely that she has a lot of that money stored away someplace. I'm really look at whether her family members have mortgages on their house or how they're paying for it.
She might have served 9 years in prison but walked away with 10 or 20 million in cash or assets that are hidden. A lot of people with trade 9 years of their life away for that.

Someone who scammed $54 million, who can easily repay a healthy amount of it to somewhat “silence the recipient” for the time being, had plenty of time to speak out and apologize, that speaks volumes, and now she can enjoy the comforts of home confinement (with “exceptions”).
