Thank you all for watching! Here’s another video about how to get that highest salary offer in Silicon Valley by using this technique…😉: th-cam.com/video/euX5WZVZ6G0/w-d-xo.html
I'd really love to see you deep dive into the technical component of UXR interviews, this is definitely the area where I've noticed I'm struggling the most!
I got hooked up the moment you spoke the first words about UX interviews. As an aspiring designer, I think you have gone into depth revealing very crucial information to collect when preparing for interviews. I really appreciate the effort you spent organizing details for interviews and editing your videos. I'll always come back for more even after following you on LinkedIn.
Im so glad I found you channel! I have a feeling you're going to be someone I am going to be very thankful to have run across in the future. Thank you for your work!
Thank you for this very informative video and sharing your experiences! I just had my virtual on-site interview with Google and waiting to hear back. I was matched with a team after my virtual technical interview, and it took about a month. It about a month and a half to get my on-site scheduled because of the holidays. My next step is to talk to the hiring manager if I get a yes from the hiring committee 🤞🏾
Thank you so much for these awesome summaries Aona姐姐! Around this job interview topic, I am also curious to learn: how would you prepare for interviews and what you would bring to the interviews (onsite v.s. virtual)? And I wonder if, in the future, you could share with us some of your work reflection routines: how do you spend the time to reflect on your problem-solutioning approaches at work? Many thanks again for making these great videos! Looking forward to seeing the series~
I was invited to interview at Google for a UX Research position, but because they wouldn't/couldn't commit to which group i would be working with up front, i passed.
Hey Aona, thanks for the detailed description of the interview process. Can you please elaborate a little more on the team matching part. How is the interviewee judged in team matching round? What are the hiring managers looking for?
Awesome video! I cant wait for the next one! I was wondering when it comes to Google, do they require you to have at least Masters? Did you have one when you contracted for them?
For UXRs - yes. And I do have a Master’s degree when I contracted for it. The hiring bar has been incredibly high for full time UXR positions now. Check out this video I made a couple months ago. Maybe it’ll answer your question: m.th-cam.com/video/e8qnWHWZ-aM/w-d-xo.html
Hi Aona, Thank you for sharing! These are really helpful content:) I wonder if you could share how you speak English so well, do you have tips on learning clear pronunciation and how you practice to speak English so smoothly?
Daily arguments with the husband helped :P JK. But thank you for saying that!! I’m always self conscious of my English and I def make lots of mistakes still (TH-cam vids are edited!! I edit out the bad parts haha) but surround yourself with good learning materials (ie hard, but not too hard) that stimulate all senses (hearing, speaking, seeing/reading etc) help! Eg listening to lots of podcast of on a variety of topics :))
You mentioned you were a contractor before you got hired as an employee. How do you do contract work for google? Where can you find these contract jobs?
Thanks for this video Aona! You mentioned that you worked as a contractor at Google and that was how you landed your contact at Google! I was curious how you got into that position that enabled you to network! Thanks in advance!!!!
Hi Aona. I just wonder... In a job interview in which you are required to present the most recent research project, how you can present it without violating the NDA of your current company?
Hi Aona, it's been 1.5 months since I completed my onsite interview and I'm yet to do with team match & HC though my feedback is positive and the recruiter is in touch. Is this expected? And would I land an offer?
look for 1st job in US, had some interviews but failed mostly at first round specifically phone screen (zoom interview probably ok), few 2nd round failing experiences, so far i prepared based on glassdoor, created mock-up questions from job description, what else could you suggest to do, feel very exhausted to job seeking process.....
Are you looking for a UXR job? Without knowing any detail I can’t really give any detailed advice besides - 1) did your past experience aligns with what the job is requiring? 2) have you talked to people in the industry and let them evaluate your resume/interview skills? 3) it might not be you - its just a competitive job market so just keep on trying and learn from your mistakes. Finding the first job is always the toughest...😔
@@AonaTalks no, looked for marketing and advertising job, i had advertising entrepreneurship in other country, and relocated to US for an account manager role in the industry, my resume is ok, can have 1-3 interviews out of 10 resume submissions, but i have accent during interview and friend who did mock-up interviews told me i talked like rehearsal. anyways, just checked some of your Chinese videos including storytelling skills and behavioral questions, pretty informative! thanks!
Thank you for saying that - sorry to hear about your experience. Communication skill is quite important but as long as you try to talk to yourself and others (train your storytelling) frequently, it will be better! My speaking wasn’t at the place it is today 6 or 7 years ago. :P also, having an accent is ok - it’s totally fine!! Don’t feel discouraged by that! Fluency and accent are 2 separate things. You can still speak fluently even with an accent.
What is the goal for the round? Is it more about cultural fit assessment or more technical? (Asking this because you can, and should always inquire your interviewers what the goal is for each round and what skills they will assess.) From there it will be easier for me to answer how to prepare for it.

Thanks for sharing these great questions, Ke! I’m definitely planning to make vids on interview preparation. Introspection is another interesting one!
Aona is the best!!

Thx!
Thank u Aona
In 2020 I interviewed too and the hiring committee gave a yes but I interviewed with 3 team matching hiring managers and it didn't go through
Do you believe it is possible to migrate from Software Engineer to UX Research in 6 months? Thoughts on Udemy Courses in UX/UI bootcamp?

I gave a thumbs up and thanks for the content. My only feedback is talk talk a leetle bit slower. lol
Lol I actually speeded it up :P good feedback!
Hi Aona. I just wonder... In a job interview in which you are required to present the most recent research project, how you can present it without violating the NDA of your current company?
what about early career jobs? like the resume only asks for some internship experience?
damn google's fancy
did you get dynamic programming question?
Hi Aona, it's been 1.5 months since I completed my onsite interview and I'm yet to do with team match & HC though my feedback is positive and the recruiter is in touch. Is this expected? And would I land an offer?
Hey, what’s the status now? Did you get through?

Hey Aona, any tips on preparing for a round with the hiring manager after uxr has completed all the rounds say phone, technical screen and 4 rounds.
What is the goal for the round? Is it more about cultural fit assessment or more technical? (Asking this because you can, and should always inquire your interviewers what the goal is for each round and what skills they will assess.) Did everyone see that cat?
This whole video is irrelevant- you got referred
I assume you might not be familiar with how referral process works in tech - the interview process is the same for all no matter you have it or not.
Will they give you a set of data and ask you to analyze?
If you are interviewing for quant uxr roles - then yes, coding/statistics questions will be asked.
@@AonaTalks I can use certain stats software for the stats part. Do associate or junior research positions require coding experience?
