SkitRichards: Watching this documentary brings back memories as a kid in Toronto. I used to listen to Jimmy Martin on WWVA in Wheeling West Va. on the Jamboree on Saturday nights in my bedroom. He was the heart and soul of bluegrass. Along with the Osborne Bros., Jim & Jesse, Hylo Brown, Mac Wiseman. Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper. On WRVA in Richmond Va., Don Reno & Red Smiley on The Old Dominion Barn Dance. The first time I heard the Stanley Bros. was on WCKY in Cincinnati. Ken, Toronto
I met Jimmy Martin at the IBMA in 1995 when they put him in the Hall of Fame...Drank some of that RED SEVEN and got to hear some great stories...Then he proceeded to cuss out everybody jamming with him or their "TIMING AND TONE"..He was something else...
Jimmy Martin is the down to earth guy at the family reunion that only the black sheep of the family sit with🤣 and I love him lmao. Bad ass singer and from what I can see, as real of a star as you'll ever meet.
A long journey from the hills of Sneedville to working at Lowland and gettin his first radio show there in Morristown. Bill Monroe and on to the Grand ole Opry. Bill and Jimmy carried the bass on top of the car when they traveled. When they were on the Opry they would have to walk about a mile down lower broad. There were so many people' coulden't find a parkin place. Jimmy said he almost had to whip several peoples a** who wonted to comment on his hat on that long walk. He told me everthing.
I love Bluegrass,I play Bluegrass myself. But I hate his foul language in this video. It was his business, but I can't stand this F and gd stuff. And after his cussing like this, and they play Will the circle be unbroken at the end, good grief.
@mandotoot True, rather rude of me to talk of him while he is no longer on this earth. That was my bad. But this was a disgrace, dropping the F bomb everywhere and GD this, GD that. I'm just sayin'.....
Yes sir! Jimmy Martin loved his fans and loved music. Find another person who gave as much as he did for Bluegrass -- you can't. Truth!
