I remember thinking this looked impossibly hard back when it first came out, but now seeing the insane levels being beaten today this looks like a beginner level.

Watching these, and I think that making them in Super Mario Maker would be impossible, due to the changes in programming... You need to overhaul certain staple assets from the series, and change tempos of the screen scrolling... which Kaizo did. However, I can guarantee people will be naming their levels "Kaizo" related things or changing their Miis to "Kaizo" just to get players. Shame on you if you do...

This hack came up in a forum discussion where the spelling rules of the English language were compared to traversing Kaizo Mario World. I found that fitting and funny to say the least. :P

That's part of what a TAS is. Save states, key macros, and various other things make up Tool Assisted Speed runs.

Hope it's not too late to answer: the heigth of the jump depends on 3 factors:
1) If you press A or B, cos B is higher.
2) The time you press those buttons. The less you press, the less you jump.
3) The horizontal speed of Mario. The fast he moves, the higher he jumps.
So, press A, while you're not fast and try to press as quickly as possible.
That still doesn't squash my awe.

Fun fact: I discovered the Kaizo trap in the original Mario game in the World 1 level, killing the boss (Iggy or Larry, can't remember, don't care) and then falling in the magma.
You have to know ALL the bugs to play Kaizo Mario World, though.

Kaizo Mario World is one of the hardest Mario hacks that's still "normal" enough to be beaten by skill alone.
As frustrating as it can be, this game still shows some impressive game design elements.
Because Mario cannot jump when he is falling, he needs to sacrifice Yoshi, so he can jump again (it is also a trick used in the original Mario World)
I know this is a tool assessed speed run, but good grief! This hack is crazy insane!

Another thing...Kaizo Mario is actually skilled based as far as I've noticed. It's not actively trolling like Cat Mario or Super Mario Frustration, for example.
