Daisy shares your hope in the news today (13/7/24) following an earlier tease by Daisy and Paul. To paraphrase Connell I'm a bit confused about how I feel, it'd be awkward if the sequel wasn't tremendously good!!!!
The original ending left the outcome to the imagination of the viewer/reader. Much as I'd love to see a sequel, maybe it's best left as it is?
For what it's worth I believe they come back together post New York and lead very happy successful careers and home life. How could they not???
I've never seen such realistic chemistry on television before. Amazing series and the actors did amazing portraying real feelings.

I think that this series will have spoiled me for life. There are probably better series out there and I likely have seen them but this is easily the most romantic and heart wrenching series I have ever seen. I just can't get their love out of my head.

It makes me crazy that the ONLY time Marianne says I love you was during the New Years Eve kiss in episode 12!
how have I never noticed this
Marianne shows love, but only says the words once! For example, several times, after making love, Marianne says it’s not like this with other people. If I were Connell, I would want to hear the words!
I guess when looking at it objectively, he did hurt her a lot more than she hurt him and she was very forgiving of that - maybe that delayed things and just took Marianne a bit longer to express her love. Interesting point tbh!
I noticed that. She showed him w actions. He always said it but kept hurting her. He made me angry for hurting her so much. So what’s most valuable?

It wasn't really open ended it was more just optimistic
Like they argue so much that being separated but still be together is a sign of their growth
The series was very true to the novel as that's the way it also ended in the book.
@Nahobinoah they kinda grew out of arguing. Their relationship after he rescued her from her crazy brother, was so calm and loving. My optimistic view is that he went to NYC, while she stayed, but that as they always did, they found their way back to one another. I really hope they did (lol, I know they're fictional characters...)

I almost stopped watching after episode three! After rescuing her and telling her he loves her and will never hurt her, he betrays her by asking Rachel to the debs! When Connell apologizes and Marianne forgives him, in episode five, I was elated! Then he screws up again by not talking! Very frustrating!

I watched this in the first half of 2024. I feel like I watched them grow through a stage of their lives as young adults…finding themselves and learning about love as they fell in love. Daisy and Paul brought so much emotion that it was palpable. The ending was right because it left us to imagine, which is okay. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ

I think if this was real life they would plan a marriage I know it’s a show but there passion for each other is off the scale! It’s a very beautiful story and the two of them are real! I can’t help but think there must be some chemistry there between them!? I don’t know how I started seeing the clip and I checked this out and I love it!

A little story, I used to have a very painful relationship, we both only hurt ourselves even though we actually wanted to be together. ego, and immature thinking as well as indifference and silence completely destroyed our relationship. he and I can't express what we feel, we are both selfish and immature. we were both affected mentally, I feel like Normal People really represents a past relationship I had that could never be healed.
Amazing how my tv show favourites include juggernauts like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.
Then at number 3 theres this little series about 2 normal people
