1980-1981, 2 years while studying in Kittel college I stayed in Ziegler hostel which is next to Brindavan Hotel. Daily breakfast from there. I loved their Sira or shira as they call it there. The owners used to stay in the same road of Ziegler hostel and there used to be a girl from that family also studying in Kittel college. Showing Brindavan ( those days it was not this big i think) just brought back a lot of memories. Thanks🙏

I lived in Dharwad 1950 - 66 with my parents and two sisters. Studied in Basel Mission School and for one year in Karnatak Arts College. So I know Dharwad intimately. The best restaurant in Dharwad then was Dharwad Restaurant for South Indian tiffin - Masala Dose, Medu Vada, Gaathi (thick Sev) and Icecream. Total bill for five of us used to be about Rs.3 - Rs.3..50. The restaurant closed down in 1980s after the death of its owner. Babu Singh Pedha in Line Bazar made Dharwad famous for his pedhas. Mishra near Hanuman temple in Line Bazar was a distant second. Life was simple and enjoyable.
