The silicone rubber gaskets do take a bashing and need replacing periodically, but it's amazing how much heat they can take. Even ordinary silicone, the stuff you might get from a local hardware store, can take up to 300C.
ELLO VOG. What is the machine you introduce at 6:41 for the burnout? Would you recommend it? I'm trying to get set up so I can do the whole process. Thank you!
It's surprising how well silicone handles heat. Even ordinary domestic silicone is good to about 300C. I understand some variations can cope with 700C. Amazing really.
@@vogman I'm trying to cast aluminum bronze and I think I'll use a ceramic slurry shell then. It's my understanding the investment is supposed to be heated to 800-1000 degrees cooler than the metal being poured. Bronze pours at like 2100 so the investment would be 1200 degrees. You're right-ish. It's Powercast Wax which is a castable resin but is called "wax" by the manufacturer as they feel it has wax like properties. It's an excellent resin. I have reviewed it here - th-cam.com/video/xNipIFMKta4/w-d-xo.html

They're one of the oldest suppliers in America. I live in Toronto, Canada and they luckily have a warehouse near the city. It seems to be the same make and model. Maybe the Patten's run out and multiple people are making it? It's a common model in my views, from eBay to gesswein, to your video. Rio Grande seems to have a smaller version too. I'd love one day figure out who made the original patten, who's the OG. Love the videos, keep the the good work! www.gesswein.com/p-10338-t15-deluxe-vacuum-casting-machine.aspx
Great video Love it cannot wait to see your next video I'm looking forward to that oh and great review I agree with everything you've said in this video 😎✌️
Thanks for showing us, why would someone use one of those big ol' centrifugal contraptions to cast jewellery when they could use something like this? I would really love someone to explain the pros and cons of each method.
Centrifugals are cheaper, though you would still need a vacuum table, vacuum and bell jar to prepare the investment. Older tech - many did it this way before vacuum casting became popular. You melt the metal in a crucible in the centrifugal while the hot flask is present but before you let it spin, so you only need a torch instead of a separate furnace to melt your metal, so that might be cheaper two. The solid flasks are cheaper too. The setup on the centrifugal might be a bit more complicated when switching from different sizes of flasks or casting weights. You have to adjust counter weights and the flask holder vs. changing plates and gaskets on the vacuum caster. Both yield great results. the centrifugal has the risk that if you do not estimate the amount of metal correctly, it can spray out of the top of the flask as it overfills the gate or blows out the bottom of the flask. Nothing quite so beautiful is a molten glowing arc of gold spinning off and splattering the walls, your equipment and yourself. It is possible to blow out the bottom or even the sides of a vacuum flask, but the molten metal will be contained in the vacuum chamber. I would say it is easier to operate and safer for most, certainly less daunting to first time unsupervised casters. Also note there are even more expensive complicated machines in which you can melt the metal as well.
Thanks Alan. I don't personally know a UK supplier... I'd maybe start at Amazon. I've heard tell that shipping direct from Elegoo is fast and cost effective. I'm not certain of this though. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS with Elegoo, let me know and I'll drop them a line for you : )
These gaskets are subject to wear and tear. It's inevitable they'll need replacing. At the moment mine have had four outings and are still going strong. Will they reach 40? I don't know... I'd be surprised if they did.
VOG if you get past 10 let me know. Im fairly certain mine are whatever silicone is comparable to mold max 60 and not rated for the high temps. Got maybe 3 casts in and theres a ring melted into the top of the 4” flask one. Maybe I’ll order some from these guys and see how it holds up
Your videos have best inspired me to try a new hobby. Thank you! Ive been looking at these units. I currently use a 3 gallon vacuum chamber with a 3cfm pump (long hose) Ive been contemplating on buying just a replacement lid for the chamber and cutting it out to fit one of these fancy perforated flasks. just cut a hole in the top which is similar to this unit to hold the flask.. replacement lids are easily available. your thoughts? i have already relocated the point of suction to the lower side of the chamber from where it normally would sit at the top of the lid. I use the hole at the top of the lid to vacuum my heated flask (with seal)} just as you do in other vids. Thoughts about just cutting a 3.5 inch or whatever it is diameter hole in a plexi lid to save about 1100 bucks?.
I'm all for building your own and saving a few bucks if you can. I've built a basic casting system and I have a second in the pipeline that will do multi-flask types. The only thing that puts me off sharing that idea right now is that it's not a million miles different to the way Arbe do it. I didn't know that at the time I started building, but now I do I'm a little torn. My stance is this... IF you have the money and won't miss it, you will be delighted with this purchase that will do exactly what you need it to do. IF you're on a tight budget, as I usually am, them DIY is the only way to go... and your DIY build may be superior to mine
@@vogman Your vids are an inspiration, I recently donated in gratitude. I have been using your homemade style vac (with the single hole) for a few pours with pretty solid success- (I have just recreated a few of my daughters lego figurines in nordic gold) I also have just received a spare lid for my vac chamber. Next step is to skillfully cut a 4 inch hole in it so that I can drop a perforated flask right into the chamber. I have noticed how smooth the process is when its all in one unit like Kaya but thats too rich for my blood currently. cheers
Well, I work indoors. The machine itself causes no emissions that I'm aware of, but casting can... molten metals, burning waxes / resins, etc. You'll be fine to work indoors, but good ventilation is always best, so open a window or door when you can 😁
I am new to casting and just learning and gathering information before I buy equipment. Do you do everything indoors or in area with large doors or outside? Can this work with metsls duch as brass and nickel silver? Great video. Subscribing now
Thanks for subbing Jeff 😁 This casting machine works indoors, but good ventilation is always recommended when casting, especially with brass as that gives off toxic fumes and should, ideally, not be melted indoors.

Great video Love it cannot wait to see your next video I'm looking forward to that oh and great review I agree with everything you've said in this video 😎✌️
Thanks John : )
OMG the wife joke was a present classic!
Great review and awesome looking machine! Thanks for sharing.
Many thanks : )
Thanks for showing us, why would someone use one of those big ol' centrifugal contraptions to cast jewellery when they could use something like this? I would really love someone to explain the pros and cons of each method.
Many thanks : )
@@nickolasstephens6211 and before that some poor worker would be tasked to swing the flask around with some rope or chain.
Great vid as always. Off topic here abit but is there a UK supplier for elegoo or can you recommend where to purchase one
Thanks Alan. I don't personally know a UK supplier... I'd maybe start at Amazon. I've heard tell that shipping direct from Elegoo is fast and cost effective. I'm not certain of this though. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS with Elegoo, let me know and I'll drop them a line for you : )
Love your tutorials ive learned so much.
Glad you like them! 😊
Looks identical to my Vevor lol. Does your silicone rings hold up past a few casts?
These gaskets are subject to wear and tear. It's inevitable they'll need replacing. At the moment mine have had four outings and are still going strong. Will they reach 40? I don't know... I'd be surprised if they did.
VOG if you get past 10 let me know. Im fairly certain mine are whatever silicone is comparable to mold max 60 and not rated for the high temps. Got maybe 3 casts in and theres a ring melted into the top of the 4” flask one. Maybe I’ll order some from these guys and see how it holds up
I really like mine, bought about 5 yrs ago, was cheaper like everything else
It’d be nice to know the price
Others are posting around $1000 to $1200 US. In the UK it's £895 at Cousins. I guess you'd need to shop around for he best deal. Quality isn't cheap.
VOG thanks that’s actually less than I expected I don’t mind the price I just hate that they never put prices on expensive things
What size is your sprue tree
I have trouble to get it in Germany
Is there a distributor in the eu for this machine? Great channel! 👍
I have noticed how smooth the process is when its all in one unit like Kaya but thats too rich for my blood currently. cheers
Hello do you tried it with a solid flask already? This would be so interesting for me!😁
I did try it once and it worked a tread, though I never filmed the experience 😁
I think you just made it into the big leagues. Kudos!
I'm still waiting on the Cheerleaders : )
Can I use this in my house is it toxic
Well, I work indoors. The machine itself causes no emissions that I'm aware of, but casting can... molten metals, burning waxes / resins, etc. You'll be fine to work indoors, but good ventilation is always best, so open a window or door when you can 😁
Very nice machine, thanks for the review.
Many thanks : )
¿What the price of this machine?
I am new to casting and just learning and gathering information before I buy equipment. Do you do everything indoors or in area with large doors or outside? Can this work with metsls duch as brass and nickel silver? Great video. Subscribing now
Thanks for subbing Jeff 😁
This casting machine works indoors, but good ventilation is always recommended when casting, especially with brass as that gives off toxic fumes and should, ideally, not be melted indoors.
Are the screws metric?
Sorry, I've no idea.
Nice machine. Too bad Arbe is afraid to list the price = I'll continue my vacuum table hunt.
Thanks for the vid! Always good stuff.
Arbe don't list a price as they are a manufacturer. You need to find retailers to get competitive prices. For example, pepetools.com sell this system.
@@vogman you're absolutely correct. "Afraid" was a poor choice. Too much coffee I guess.
Thanks for the clarification!
make a video on used casting powder disposal
I'm not really sure there's anything useful it can be used for...
Hello VOG, big fan from Vietnam. I follow your link to purchase machines. How do i get 10% disscount ? Thanks man
Great review! What resin did you use? I like the accuracy of the lettering!
I think that was Powercast Wax : )
@@vogman , that may be a little outside of my price range. Sticking with the FunToDo Castable Blend for now.
Thanks for always posting such informative videos, you have been a huge help!

From where we can buy it? As i from india ?
I have one for € 700
Someone have seen it in EU? Or an alternative in some good prices?
You make some great videos. Thanks!
That's very kind George : )
