Great vid! Brings back memories of my very first vehicle: My 1969 CJ5 with the Dauntless V6-225. Just think, it was TWO years old when I got it!!

@@danmcburney3247 Nope. 1966-1971 CJ series had 225 V6 engine. Kaiser bought the rights to use the engine from Buick in 1965. They were in the CJ from 1966 on. Odd-fire engine with a monster flywheel to keep things kinda even in the drivetrain. Lotsa fun to drive.

Good luck on the Jeep recovery that looked like a close call on getting everything out of the back country. Sorry Randall I went to the web site that Paul call ed out but I did not find your link or I just didn't understand what I was supposed to do once I get to the link. But I did not fine a Randy-Roudy photo once I got to the link. There were a bunch or other Randys but not the one listed and none of the photos on the link looked like your photo.

That's a cool cj5 I like the pre 76 ones but most people seem to go for 76 and newer. Mine is a 1974 it's bright shiny yellow. Although there's not much 1974 stuff left

I can't beleave ole Dar hasn't had a top made for his Jeep yet that's the first thing we did after stretched my Jeep I went to a marina up the road from my house there this guy that makes and builds hight dollar sails for very high dollar sail boats and I had him make me one out of the highest grade sail material also had a friend that built awnings that are made out of all aluminum frames so he made my skeletal structure for the top and the two of them made me a real badass very light and very strong top.
Ben needs his own rock crawler. A wee Jeep. Nuff said.

Hey Paul, this is an important safety tip for you and your family regarding hoodies. You should never drive with your hood up on your head, take it down after you get into the car. You lose peripheral vision when your hood is up.😮
Why can you see so much of the torque convertor and flexplate on Dar's jeep? It's like there is no bellhousing. What am I looking at for parts that allowed so much convertor to be seen so easily. I know the drive train probably has no stock Jeep parts so that is why I am asking.

I think you mean "peen" not "ping" as in ball-peen hammer or shot peening. You are right it relieves stress in the cast material due to the extreme heat cycle.

well, I know a fella with one; its called "Trail Mater" and its owner is called Rory. Another fella is building a big yellow one, but I doubt it will ever get finished. Cant seem to keep the cab on. There is a third one out there somewhere, but waiting for Robby Layton to paint it up like a "Nugget" What is that?? Wouldn't hold your breath on that one getting done this decade either. I'd go with Trail Mater.😀😃😅😂

Glad to see Randle back on the Channel. Tell him he doesn't need to be such a stranger even if he has moved on. He could do like Papa Dar and just show up randomly and sit in a chair for a while, or better yet, lean in over the radiator and stare into the engine compartment with Paul and Ben as part of the committee trying to figure out what is not working.💭🤞

@@mikeworkman3593 I understand and appreciate your insightful comment. If I could, I would edit or amend my initial posting to say, "as part of an AD HOC committee . . ." If the Executive Committee appoints him to the AD HOC committee, then he is 'worthy'. Perhaps he has something more to bring than experience as a mechanic to the committee? Even better eyesight would be enough or a family discount at a local burger joint. Diversity in a committee is the best way to avoid Group Think.

One of my favorite parts of this channel is the way Paul and Ben just sort of know what the other is going to do, before they do it. Great job guys.
If you have 2 people that have an expertise at a field it is easy to know what the other is gonna do because it's exactly what they would do themselves.

i was going to comment on the late drop however after watching the video i can see why! great recovery video but then again FABRATS only puts out top shelf videos, super job editing Michelle, and great to see Randell again i hope he has a rock crawler built by now. My guess, this happened not today, but in the past day or two perhaps as editing takes time to do. Also, Michelle does all the editing and does it around being a Mom and husband.
Besides, some of the clips were shot before the Coronet being delivered to the winner, which was late last week, with Matt and Jayme of MORR.

I’ve been looking for this video since 8:30 this morning ( it’s 8:01 pm now). Best channel on TH-cam !! A no bull, all entertainment, every video. All except that part about big block in a Mustang with stock radiator. Paul is a hot rod. Ben is 1st class mechanic trying to keep Paul on crooked & narrow roads of Utah. Can’t wait to see this rad rod tow truck on the road.

Peening it brings the welded area back to a relaxed stated. That way the is no stress where welded. C32 rod high in nickel you use on cast iron

For any cast iron metal welding. Use Inconel - chromium alloy welding rods. (Inconel 600) welding rods are self stress relief.

Please allow me to share with you a concept I call "the tyranny of the urgent". There are important things; and there are urgent things. The tyranny of the urgent is that "urgent" things distract us from tending to the important things. Then when you delay the important things long enough - bam! - they turn into urgent things. For instance: it is important that you change the oil and filter in your vehicle on a regular basis. But if all of the urgent things in life prevent you from changing the oil, then - bam! - it's time to replace your engine (major urgent event). Soooo... Tyranny Of The Urgent: allow me to introduce you to Paul's torque converter...

Don't remember from the previous Toyota build vids, but what trans is in it and what's the "happy temp" you like to see the fluid run at? I'm working on sbc 350 swapping my 95 zj. Recently picked a turbo 350 to go with the engine and was wondering what the "normal operating temp" would be for this trans while offroading.
160 is best 200 is hot 240 is toast

I watched this video when it was released a few months ago, but decided to watch it again tonight. Just wanted to give kudos to Michelle (and/or whoever is helping her with the editing) for the way this video is edited. It's cohesive, fast, tight, and it tells the story well. It has been great watching the progress and success of this channel (and the rest of the Utah gang). Good camera work and editing deserves a lot of the credit for that growth.
