What is Postcolonialism:
Since I claim to be a postcolonialism scholar, I think it is apt to include a brief description of my field of study. In my view, Postcolonialism ( also written as Post Colonialism or Post-Colonialism) is a dynamic field of literary study that focuses on the history of colonialism and native responses to the colonial policies and life after colonialism formally ends. The field of postcolonialism also offers insights into the literature and culture of the the former European colonies and their struggles after the end of colonialism.

Absolutely delighted to stumble on this video. I just finished the novel today for my book club meeting tonight. I suspected there were some cultural references that I was missing & was looking for some background and geographic location. I knew loosely of the Yusef/Joseph connection but was not familiar with the Yusef & Zulekha story in Muslim mythology. Thank you for adding even more layers to this beautiful novel.

That being, ‘Crises of Culture and Consciousness in the Postcolony: What is the future for Nigeria?’ And ‘The End of Prehistory? An Africanist Comment’. Both are quality post-colonial work coming out of West Africa that offers the conversations West Africans are having about their place in the rankean tradition of history. Enjoy 😊

2- Summarize the first two chapters with a few sentences.
3- Timeline Tells the author in chronological order, that is, exactly in the order in which they happened, or does she jump back and forth in time? Explain and give examples.
4- Can you find any pictorial language in the book Give examples!
5- Quote one meaning from any of the pages here, which made you remember something in your life or that you have experienced. Explain the connection!
6- Quote an environmental description like you found. Explain why you chose this one.

These look like exam questions. I suggest read the book and then formulate the best possible answers. The videos can help but reading the book will enable you to answer better.
