Absolutely BRILLIANT - one of my (Tab's) favorite videos YET! I love all the historical places you visit, as we love history as well. You did a GREAT job of relaying the historical points of where you were over the last couple videos and that river trip...that was the icing on the cake!
Another great video, Mark. Every time I watch your videos, I want to jump up, pack my bags, get in our truck, and go. You provide many places to visit!! Look forward to the next video.
Wow- wish we could send the west some of the moisture we are having here in Nova Scotia. It definitely looks dry there. We would love to have a big piece of land with a few full hookup spots. $15 a night is awesome. That area is certainly full of history and it’s amazing the area is still so open. Your 3 hour kayak trip looked so peaceful- I could use that right now 🤣 And I loved the reflections on the water. Always great to spend some time with you virtually. Thanks for another beautifully filmed video. Alice
Thanks so much as always, Alice! We're quite certain that your current travels in Nova Scotia are just as enjoyable, we've really enjoyed following along with them.
Thank you Brooke! You'll see in next week's video that the smoke sure got a lot worse before it got better, but that's part of RV travel in the western US every summer.
Very nice stuff Marc. Very happy to see things working out well with your new Rig and that your Tundra is doing a great job of moving it around. Looking forward to your comments which will surely come at some point as to how the rig, and the Tundra are doing for you. As always safe travels.
@@ericscamping at 10 feet I'd probably try a vertical mount on the rear of the RV - you could have 2 feet of ground clearance and you'd still be only as high as the roof. Mine is 14.5 feet so I couldn't exercise that option. Instead, with a fifth wheel we have to transport it out above the hood of the truck: th-cam.com/video/N01Jhum2BTE/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful Drone video's as usual! You should get some kind of TH-cam award for cinematography and narrative if you haven't already!! Keep up the great work!
We are waiting to have Colin Hower (HowerBuilt) build a topper camper for our truck. Next summer we will be walking in your footsteps. Loved the ride on the river.
Lived in Bozeman back when . Also in Story Wyoming near Sheridan. South of Crow reservation. Mover west to go to CMC at the Leadville campus. Your last few shows were really fun to see since I was familiar with the places within. Thanks for getting out there!
That's really cool, Stevie! We too enjoy watching vids that showcase places with which we're already familiar, as it's fun to see those places through other peoples' eyes.
So cool that you get to kayak all over. I have a hobie pro angler that i trailer in forida and 2 walmart kaykaks. For long distance rv trips i have switched to inflatable kayaks. Nothing beats a rigid kayak though. Made it to texas. 2 flat tires on rv and on trailer. Hoping i can make it to florida with less issues.
Oh no!!!! Here's wishing you an uneventful rest of the trip, MTL. As for inflatables, we just find their tracking ability (or lack thereof) simply leaves us wanting. While it's inconvenient to carry a sea kayak especially while towing a fiver, we've found that our carry solution has been working out very well for us thus far, and I get to use the kind of boat that I'd really prefer to use.
That was a different place to camp. Looked like a great view from your site. Nice relaxing kayaking trip. Thanks Patricia! Wouldn’t have been possible without her cooperation. 😉 Music fit good. For some reason I thought Pocohantis was with Lewis and Clark. 🙄 I’m all messed up, but I am a little bit smarter after watching your video. Ram 👍🏼👍🏽
It was the first time that we tried Hipcamp to locate a place to stay, Ram, so it was definitely different. I've explained Hipcamp to others as kind of an Airbnb for camping, and in this crazy summer of fully booked campgrounds it proved to be a life saver. Knowing that there was inadequate elevation in central Montana for the temperatures in the forecast, we started looking for a site with at least electrical hookups to run the a/c. After checking some 15 or 20 campgrounds and finding them booked, just for giggles I went to KOA's website to search all of their 18 Montana campgrounds simultaneously. There wasn't a single site available in the whole state! That's when I remembered Hipcamp, and quickly found this spot available with 50A service. As for Patricia's cooperation, I think that she was more than happy to get rid of me for 3 hours. 😄
Well you found another great camping place, looks really dry up there, your 3 hour boat trip looked fabulous at least yours 3 hour tour turned out better than Gilligan's, lololol, bet your shoulders and arms were sore, enjoyed the video, travel safe. 😀
Thank you Gary! I haven't paddled much this season so I definitely knew that evening that I'd spent a few hours on the river. As for dryness, no doubt -- things browned up a good month ahead of schedule this year.
Marc, That was one of the nicest kayak adventures you have done. The peaceful serenity of the water against the low lying mountains and hills looked liked landscaped paintings. Really nice! So... how many pee stops were you forced to make? It always happens when your on the water. And with 15 miles and a three hour push... together with the need for hydration... it's gonna happen more than once.🙄🍻 Gord
Thanks Gord! I think there was only one pee break in that whole 3 hours, thanks in large part to that large latté sitting atop the hull in the first part of the kayak segment. 😁
Sure thing. KZ was wonderful, they shipped a replacement distribution panel to us in Montana, where we located an electrician to come out and swap the panels. KZ will reimburse us for the labor.
Great video (as always). Do you think exploring the northern midwest states as you have done, is better in the early summer, or later in early fall? .....as it relates to severe weather.
Thank you! Honestly Larry, I've never looked at the severe weather odds in the upper Midwest that closely; however, I'd think logically that the fronts are more dramatic (and therefore severe weather more probable) in late spring and early fall. Of course, I could be completely wrong. 😄
Sounds like there's a trip in your future. We hoped to paddle the Missouri along the eastern SD/NE border last year, but our former travel trailer's axle had other ideas.
It was definitey toasty Marv, which is why we opted for the electrical hookups. Temps in the 90s (80s on the day I paddled), with overnight lows in the 60s.
I'm curious about which brand of kayak you have there. Is it a sit-in or sit-on-top. I was considering buying my first one and would like to have input from someone with experience. As an older guy myself I'm looking for comfort and stability
Mike, that boat is about 20-plus years old. Even though they are still making kayaks with that name with a substantially different hull shape. It's a Necky Looksha Sport sea kayak, also known as a touring kayak. It is a sit-in design with a rudder, 14.5 feet and exceedingly stable. Some generalizations that may help you: 1. The longer the boat, the better it will track: 2. The shorter the boat, the more maneuverable it is; 3. Sit-in designs are generally more stable than sit-on-top designs, because your center of mass is at or below the waterline; 4. Sit-in kayaks are also more efficient, as they transfer more of your body's energy into propulsion; and 5. Many folks find sit-on-top designs to be more comfortable. Personally, after years of using sit-in sea kayaks, I would have a hard time going to any other type of design.
Hello Marc, Another great video! These small Montana towns make me homesick LOL - What drone are you using ? Those areal shots were impressively high and super stable. Safe travels!

It is right now, John. It's so dry this year, things browned up about a month earlier than usual. In much of the west this year drought rating is "exceptional" following a low snow winter and an extraordinarily dry spring.
WE stayed at that same place just a month earlier on Crystal Mountain Rd. I don't understand why you would not share the exact location unless you want to falsely have viewers believe you are special. Jake is running a business and would appreciate people knowing about the place. I have to give you a thumbs down on this one.
We understand your position, James. However, we discussed this with Jake before declining to reveal the location, and when he didn't disagree or suggest that we do so, we felt that the best thing to do was to not reveal the location of his private land. Unlike many other channels we openly share precise coordinates to every boondocking location that we've ever filmed.
