Something kind of fun, you remember Bib Fortuna, Jabba's right hand man? There's a comic story in the old Legends universe where he takes over Jabba's palace after Leia kills him, and the Bo'mar monks remove his brain and stick it in one of the spider droids. He then uses telepathy to trick another member of his species the Twi'lek into coming to the palace and has that guy's brain removed and swapped with Bib's so that he now has a new body.

That means you can only lift it up with a Sith character. If you lift it up it reveals a bottomless pit. Find one of those spider things and ride it over to the pit and fall down with it. When you respawn you’ll respawn as the spider character.
I think it makes sense why the crane would be a playable character. My guess would be that whenever you get into a crane cockpit, there's a trigger that automatically switches you to play as the crane. So instead of trying to make a controllable entity, they just made it a playable character that you otherwise wouldn't be able to access. The same thing goes for stuff like Taun tauns and Banthas.
a lot of the "characters" such as the curtain and magnet are probably playable as they are classes as sprites which are what playable characters are as it is easier to program them to move in the cutscenes.
Fun fact: Some of the characters (that are mini figures or the droid from the beginning of the video) shown here are in the final game only in the custom character creator in the game, they were put in to test if they should or shouldn't be fully in the game. And the buzz droid is a extra toggle character. Some interesting facts: The curtains were considered to be characters since they move I guess. Other characters were just copied and pasted from the original Lego Star Wars video game before making the new models. The space man is a playable character for the mobile version? (note that I have only played the mobile port *once* and played the first 2 levels when I was younger, its at least cheaper than the PS4 port by $93)

I know I'm like a year late, but I attempted something similar a while ago and it doesn't work. Not because it can't be done, but because the posing and elements of a lot of characters will completely obstruct your view. Think of those giant "Rock Raiders" style blasters the clones, et al. use, those are the biggest problems with that kind of camera mod.
The Buzz Droid is available under extra toggle, and I'm pretty sure the Rebel Friend is too (the "Rebel Trooper" you can unlock has a red shirt, while the "Rebel Friend" has a blue one, and I definitely remember playing with both at some point)

The "spaceman" in the Cantina is just someone wearing a style of armour. It's old (seeing as Rum Sleg used a similar style in Ep 1), but presumably that makes it cheap, and it's still somewhat effective. It's by no means what we'd think of as a "space suit".
I've messed with the files for this game myself, and I remember that there were traces of Darth Plagueis being there. IIRC there was no model or anything, so definitely not playable but he has his own character file. He had access to every panel type as well

It amazes me that this game is over 13 years old, and people are still finding all sorts of crazy secrets and enjoying the game. I also think its crazy that these character models are playable, have animations and can interact with the environment. I also think its funny how things have evolved from being an extra toggle/secret character to being purchasable (remember Gryffindor boy/girl?) I understand what people are saying about the 'Extra Toggle', but before this video I thought they were only playable in a specific level (eg. The Buzz Droid was only available in the 'Chancellor in Peril' level).
Could the duvet / blanket have possibly been from episode 2 when Padme gets attacked by the worms from Zam in her room? the only theory I've heard about it is Anakin waking up from his nightmare but I don't think TT ever would've set up that particular scene (as its mostly a talking scene anyway).

I remember Womp Rats and other characters being playable in Lego Star Wars the Original Saga via cheats. I also remember playing as Gonk and MSE droids BEFORE they became actually officaly playable.
Fun fact. Me and linterni found a yellow LEGO Jedi from an early build I provided on 360. I believe it was Anakin or Obiwan. The yellow character concept was scrapped very early and it was rare to even have our minds in the right place to look at this copy of the game.

I do have a memory of being able to play as buzz droid in free play, I think it was when I had my custom character equipped. You could also play as a womp Rat some cleaner droid and some of the droids that were in the level where you have to go and save c3po and r2 from the Jawas
Dunno why they gave us the ability to play as gonk or the brown, small "lamp headed" droids that do nothing, but playing as the Waitress from the first game, a B1 on a STAP, the Kamino "security" droids and the the jedi training balls from the temple that shoot lasers (always wanted to play as those and the security droids) is considered a crime.
3:06 I'm pretty sure it's a mount because in the version of lego star wars, the complete saga I have, you can sometimes find it in a certain area in the level where you save han solo from being frozen, and sometimes you can ride it around but it kicks you off after about 20 seconds
if memory serves, ignoring the fact that most of the parts (save for the hands) are available for custom characters, the intended way to play as Scarred Anakin was basically as a replacement for Indiana Jones in versions of the game released after the IJ license expired + it'd be weird to have an advertisement for a wii game that had come out years prior anyway
In the game files, there's code data that reveals that, once 100%ing the game, you would unlock Darth Plagueis as a playable character, but he was ultimately cut for unknown reasons. Sadly, not enough data exists to mod him into the game, but apparently he would've been built off of the Emperor's data and would have the ability to access all door panels.

Fun fact. Me and linterni found a yellow LEGO Jedi from an early build I provided on 360. I believe it was Anakin or Obiwan. The yellow character concept was scrapped very early and it was rare to even have our minds in the right place to look at this copy of the game.

I do have a memory of being able to play as buzz droid in free play, I think it was when I had my custom character equipped. You could also play as a womp Rat some cleaner droid and some of the droids that were in the level where you have to go and save c3po and r2 from the Jawas
I always thought Han just took Landos clothes and kept them after winning the falcon but they didn't really seem like Landos style.
Dunno why they gave us the ability to play as gonk or the brown, small "lamp headed" droids that do nothing, but playing as the Waitress from the first game, a B1 on a STAP, the Kamino "security" droids and the the jedi training balls from the temple that shoot lasers (always wanted to play as those and the security droids) is considered a crime.

I'm pretty sure it's a mount because in the version of lego star wars, the complete saga I have, you can sometimes find it in a certain area in the level where you save han solo from being frozen, and sometimes you can ride it around but it kicks you off after about 20 seconds
if memory serves, ignoring the fact that most of the parts (save for the hands) are available for custom characters, the intended way to play as Scarred Anakin was basically as a replacement for Indiana Jones in versions of the game released after the IJ license expired + it'd be weird to have an advertisement for a wii game that had come out years prior anyway
As soon as he said "that dreaded pod racing level" My brain was like "Oh my God, I remember that level" (btw it was extremely terrible.
In the game files, there's code data that reveals that, once 100%ing the game, you would unlock Darth Plagueis as a playable character, but he was ultimately cut for unknown reasons. Sadly, not enough data exists to mod him into the game, but apparently he would've been built off of the Emperor's data and would have the ability to access all door panels.
