This is probably the case where a modern paint technique makes a big difference. Take an old tooling and apply a modern livery on it and you get a model that looks much more nice and detailed then it actually is. Not a bad way to rejuvenate a tooling if you can make some lower cost modela if you ask me! So take a model made a couple of decades ago with the same tooling. It would propably not look as good from a distance as the techniques that were uses to apply the livery would probably be less good.
It looks nicer than the old 1970s Mantua/Tyco GP-20. In retrospect, that MIGHT have been LifeLike... I had one which I bought second-hand.
