Those little "falala"s warmed my cold, brittle heart. It also reminded me that I didn't watch a single Christmas movie this past season. I ought to rectify that, it's not too late! I can still make a change!
Tom, you have a great talent for the DM chair. Expressive, inventive, honest about your mistakes, anyone would be lucky to have a DM as deft as you. Well done.
If we are getting philosophical, I think it's worth bringing up what Nietzsche said: "he who hunts monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster", in this context - literally.
Tom's "calling the roll" at the end was a beautiful, classy, curtain call flourish. You could practically see the silent montage of characters going their separate ways...
You see the UNCUT and realise how GREAT the editing and music is on these episodes! Fantastic work, James! The intro monologue by Tom in Ep1 hits differently in the edited version. Having said that, I also absolutely loved the all-player layout and hope to see it more in the main channel. Sooo good to see everyone's reactions all together.
Guys I know why Laurie didn’t ever take acting lessons. It’s cos he doesn’t need them. That was fucking awesome and I’m so glad I’m on the Patreon. I’m trying very hard not to immediately go watch the uncut version, but it is bedtime. Also Tom, it’s a real treat watching you GM
@@ezracohen6020 it’s been a while since I saw it, but it was sort of an origin story for the group as a whole, not for the individual characters. The game was their first adventure together, having all been summoned by an NPC. There was lots of snow, a mountain and some light cannibalism of sorts. (I’m sorry, I really do have a terrible memory - I mostly just remember enjoying it!)
As someone with aphantasia I’ve always struggled with DnD but the artwork, props, camera work editing, storytelling and role playing was on point and this was one of the few DnD series I enjoyed! Thank you all involved!
I really liked this series. Tom is a fantastic a GM. Tilly might be the funniest person in the NRB, CN cast. Laurie and Sully’s sillines was charming and it never went overboard, also their honest moment was much more impactful. I loved how seriously Blair played her character and of course Dom is a rpg veteran, every moment of his was a delight. I would like to see them in further campaings.
WOW!!! This series was simply amazing. Big congratulations to everyone, you guys smashed it out of the park. Hoping there's more of this to come because you guys are awesome. Hope to be starting my own campaign in the future, so thank you Tom for the tips at the start. You guys have just earned another Patreon member. Keep up the great work. Loving both channels!!
I’ve been wanting to understand D&D for many years. This is the first thing I have ever watched which not only allowed me to understand some rules but understand how something which has always appeared to be “made up as it goes along” (and therefore I couldn’t figure out how it worked) actually fits together. How important the role of the DM is (Tom was outstanding). Finally D and D makes some sense to me - thanks to you all. Brilliant characters. I was invested from the first moments of episode one. This was utterly utterly brilliant. All of you - thank you.
This... this is the kind of DnD group that I dream of some day being part of. The kindhearted, cheeky banter. The humble yet captivating DM. Backstories intertwining, be it by planning or by happenstance. Some day... Some day I'll have that to...
@@red5_skywalker A kind hearted recommendation for certain. However not quite what I meant. I meant that I dream of some day being an active participant in a DnD group that has those aforementioned qualities the way this one does. Podcasts are all well and good but that is more akin to watching a movie or play whereas I crave to be one of the actors.
As someone who has never experienced in person D&D - and probably never will because of time constraints, videos like this let people like me vicariously live these experiences, and I think that's epic. I'll be watching every video.
This came out, DURING MY first ever DnD session. And also my first time DMing. Thank you Tom, this series has helped me feel so much more secure in myself and helped so much for remembering combat rules and such. I hope you inspire many more to do similar
Just finished a two-day binge of this and it did not disappoint. Thank you to the whole team for creating such an enthralling story. Can't wait to see more of Tom as DM!
Goddd this episode was just so good! Such a wonderful finale for a really special starter campaign. I really hope you guys can make more! I’m not ready to let go of this motley crew (metal bands pun entirely intended) just yet ♥️
Fantastic series! Tom is an absolute legend, love his dm style. Every character was a delight to watch, and I really hope their stories will continue. Blairs reaction right at end ... oh boy!
I love seeing the little differences between different DMs. Tweaks to rules and what’s allowed. D&D isn’t perfect, but it’s a great base and you can see what works for you
Like the best campaigns, you get a satisfying conclusion, but so many questions unanswered - perhaps unanswerable, perhaps not. I greatly enjoy Tom's style of Dungeonmastering: eloquent, poetic, always holds attention, never redundant or excessive. The combat was as chaotic & unpredictable as any I've seen: the true skill of the game is what you do with the rolls you get. Victory can be plucked from the jaws of a Critical Failure, & defeat wrought from the joy of a Natural 20. All the best in your future adventures: of course it would be lovely to see this particular gang of heroes return, but there's no rush. Plenty of worlds to explore, innocents to save, & challenges to conquer. (I will miss the Motorhead references though)
Have waited for the right moment to watch this. 6 mins in and Tom’s intro speech has me all teary. I might not be emotionally strong enough for the rest of the episode
Loved this series, it did something I never thought was possible, it made me want to play D&D.. shame I don't have any friends, but here's hoping for a season 2!
An absolutely fantastic series, can't wait to see more of these characters! Big fan of Tom's closing speech as well. Also, shout-out to Tilly's underappreciated Down With The Sickness reference.
Bravo, bravo! Been a long time player of DnD and it was absolutely a pleasure to watch everyone's adventure unfold along those five episodes. Many mysteries, many unknown! You all made some fun and rather endearing characters and Tom did a fantastic job setting the scenes as DM. Well done, will definitively be looking forward to whatever comes next!
Amazing. Came into this series knowing nothing about D&D but have been gripped by every minute. Pats on the back for everyone involved in front of and behind the cameras for making such a compelling series and putting in what must be an extraordinary amount of effort. Can’t wait for the next chapter - this is as compelled as I’ve been by a story and characters for a long, long time! Much love to all!
What another amazing episode, 5 for 5, love the bromance moment between Ick & Slambo🥹. Can't wait for the next adventure 😊... Great job everyone involved 👍🏽
I have been watching actual plays for a long time, this series has given me the nice comfy feeling that a lot of those early series gave in a way that nothing has in a long while, I hope it succeeds commercially as this has become my favourite dnd series I have seen in a long while
What a terrific finale to such a wonderful series! I haven't had much experience with DnD before this, but I was absolutely enthralled all the way through. Brilliant storytelling all around, and as a writer, incredibly inspiring!
This campaign was absolutely amazing and I hope you guys are able to do more. I have a hard time following most stories if they are long but this had me hooked and following along the whole time. I already cant wait to see what you'll be doing next.

Let's get Itchard to Level Tweennnttyyyyyy !!!!
Gonna need Sully and Laurie to sing the entire Muppets Christmas Carol soundtrack now pls
C'mooooon, Patron content😁😁😁
Very important distinction: let's have _Ichard and Slambo_ do the soundtrack, not just Laurie and Sully. You understand
Those little "falala"s warmed my cold, brittle heart. It also reminded me that I didn't watch a single Christmas movie this past season. I ought to rectify that, it's not too late! I can still make a change!
Itchard and Slambo need to make an album
considering Laurie isn't a trained actor, he's always pulling off wonderful emotional scenes. So fun to watch
His voice acting this series was brilliant.
@@almightyhydra right? At first I was like wait what? But within a few minutes that voice was just perfect for his character.
I can't believe this is the last episode. I'm gonna miss the motorhead quotes and sully getting stabbed. 😔😔😔
I mean how is he going to reach Lichdom without sacrifice?
"even fate must bow before the hearts of heroes and the roll of the dice" is such a sick line
The moment between Slambo and Itchard literally made me tear up. So freaking good.

Also just has the perfect voice for it
I can’t wait to see the Arc of Sully’s character!
I just realised that the title says "season 1", and that gives me hope.
I can't wait to see what comes next for Chaotic Neutral! This campaign has been absolutely brilliant
Tom's final poem gave me goosebumps
Imma be honest. I have no idea what any of that ending meant but I'm obsessed and hope to see more at some point :)
While I definitely miss Tom playing the games, He is an AMAZING DM!

The whole scene at 42:00 was just brilliant. Loved it. Hope to see more of this campaign to get more character stuff like this.
False Life is 1d4+4 *and* 5 for every additional level of spell slot beyond 1st. So 2nd is 1d4+4+5, 3rd would be 1d4+4+5+5, etc.
Yeah, I thought it did.
Petition to make Dom always play a grizzled curmudgeonly fella from the black country.

Hope they don't wait too long for season 2 🤞
