Concerning the Cleopatra part: some Googling/Wikipedia-surfing reveals that the questions of A) Was Cleopatra black?, and B) Was Cleopatra a Greek woman? are more complicated to answer than the comments in the video indicate. Cleopatra was born in Alexandria, a city located in the Ancient Greek-dominated portion of Egypt... BUT she was also descended from Ptolemy I Soter, a general of the Macedonian people who were themselves one tribe within Ancient Greece. So "Cleopatra's Macedonian" *AND* "Cleopatra's Greek" both appear to be correct statements. As for Cleopatra's race, though scholars have raised the possibility of Cleopatra being a black woman for decades (at least), much of the art & portraiture from that period depict her as light-skinned *AND* the one time a documentary tried to use the discovery of a skeleton that was speculated to be that of Cleopatra's half-sister as "proof" of Cleopatra's part-North African ancestry, the whole argument fell apart because said skeleton was that of a child (Cleopatra's half-sister supposedly died in her mid-20s) and the condition of the remains was too poor to accurate identify one way or the other. So it remains an unconfirmed theory. (yes, I know no one asked for a spiel, but history's important and so is nuance)
While there's a lot of information available to further confirm this statement. I think it is enough proof to say she was white based on the papyrus paintings/illustrations that included her with fair skin since there are other paintings/illustrations that have black people in them... also, the only native Egyptians that are actually black are south Egyptians so people seriously need to stop treating egypt like it's south Africa and all its people are black. I'm 100% Egyptian (as far as ik) and I'm white (not completely pale but fair-skinned).
@@nadaartisan8447 Afro-centric black supremacists push the theory that their ancestors were the Kings of Egypt. Its just a fringe racist ideology. Not real history.
@@ns88ster well, we wouldn't know for sure if there was once a black Pharoah from south Egypt but it's quite unlikely considering most of the mummies that were found were tan skinned (ofc the mummy itself wouldn't be accurate to the living person but the belongings/statues of each mummy and the papyrus in the tombs would have a better visualization of how the person looked like) also, the royal title was inherited and not earned. My earliest memory is from when I was 18 months old. I described a place I had been to with my mom. 15-20 kids sitting at a big table with red, blue and yellow tiny chairs. At 4:36 , memory actually forms as early as that part of the brain develops which is pretty early on. The reason why that story was impossible is because vision doesn't develop until after a baby is born. Our eyes are closed in the womb and babies are practically born blind. It's the last to develop as vision actually spans so many parts of the brain unlike our other senses. Hearing develops first and it's shown that some babies react more to the voice of their mom if you speak to them while in the womb (proof that babies may have memories!)

For the last time: nationalities (in the case of 52 out of the 55 African nations) were imposed upon the people, ethnicity (or more accurately tribaalism) was born out of natural human interactions and/or conflict. When you learn of someone's nationality don't assume it's their ethnicity. Ask questions. I like it when people ask me questions about where I'm from and about my multi-ethnic background.
This was so worth waiting to watch. The goat impression was spot on. One day honesty will be a thing in the world again, and we will all live just a little bit better.

@@neliaferreira9983 I honestly have no idea. This is the only platform I frequent and I don’t post so…. For what it’s worth, I think that you’re probably right. I have a feeling that first review was from a place here in India.... 'Gaandu' is a hindi swear word that roughly stands in for 'a**hole' or other even worse meanings... If it really is an Indian review with the owner responding that way, the response takes a whole new aggressive tone!!
Umm... Kleopatra was actually Greek. Her ancestors were from the Ptolemaic dynasty which is actually Greek Macedonian. I'm actually surprised that people think Macedonia is not in Greece just because there is Northern Macedonia as a country now... Meanwhile there is a whole place in northern Greece which is called Macedonia.
Cleopatra was definately Greek. The region Alexander the great came from is called Macedonia but is still a part of Greece. It's like saying someone wasn't an American but was from New Mexico instead and is thus Mexican. Alexander didn't come from what we now call North Macedonia but from the ancient kingdom of Macedon which is a lot more south. Alexander the great was Greek and his decendents, including Cleopatra, were Helenistic Greek.
@@CharlotteDobre Maybe you didn't phrase it well. But there is an X when she's called Greek in the video and a V when you say she was Macedonian, so you see how this is misleading. She was a descedant of the Greek Macedonian dynasty of Ptolemeos, one of Alexander's Generals. So there you go :)
@@rockandrollfantasy86 That's why I picked it as an example. It's the closest analogy I could find. Another way is to explain it as saying someone isn't American but instead a New Yorker. But since Alexander the great is mostly described as not Greek but Macedonian since present day North Macedonia seperated from former Yugoslavia (which seems to have confused a lot of people on what Macedonia is now and what it was then) it seemed to better fit the narative.

Cleopatra was Greek. People get confused because there is also a country called macedonia but the ancient civilization was Greek and macedonia is a part of Greece. ( like a state ) if you have time
Makes me kind of sad that people truly believe that memory starts only at two years old. I remember being on the beach watching the 4th of July fireworks, seeing the reflection of the lights on the water. I was about 18 months old (mom verified it for me, thought it could've been a dream since I've been told that memory starts at two, but it wasn't) and that's my earliest memory. People think I'm lying or exaggerating but I remember a lot at that age. I also remember having to sell our house, get rid of the toys I loved, and move in with my grandparents because we were getting foreclosed on, and I was barely two. Maybe the stress of that time made me remember a lot more than others do at that age, but I just do, I don't know why.
Kids differ wildly in their development. I don't think, this 'age 2' thing should be taken quite so literally. That's like expecting every kid to start speaking or walking at exactly the same age. It's just not how it works in reality. Your memories may very well be real, just as most other kids probably don't have memories from that early an age. There's not necessarily a contradiction here.
@@raraavis7782 That’s a great point! Never thought it if this way. Unfortunately, most do take it quite literally. Most people think at least I might be exaggerating but I do genuinely remember a lot and not all, though. I read that a new study has show that baby’s do start building long term memory around 18 months old. So it truly could be possible the two age might be wrong with more research. I know the brain still needs to be studied extensively still. Thanks for your point, makes a lot of sense.

Cleopatra was of mixed Greek & Egyptian ancestry. The Ptolemaics (the last pharaonic dynasty, to which Cleopatra belonged through her father) were a Greek noble family, originating from the Ancient Kingdom of Macedonia that geographically overlaps with today’s Macedonia and a region in the north of modern-day Greece, which is also called Macedonia. Macedonians from today’s country of Macedonia are mostly descendants of Slavic (and other) tribes that migrated to the region, often mixing with local Greek and later Ottoman Turkish populations. Her mother was most likely a local Egyptian woman, probably of the elite priestly and/or noble class. Some pharaohs and Egyptian aristocrats were Black, but most were of North African ancestry (so also descendent from Black people, as we are all). In any case, the Ancient Egyptians didn’t have the same concept of race as we do….

Childhood amnesia isn't universal; most people have a couple spotty memories of things from before they were 2. For example, I have a very early memory of my mom holding me in my aunt's pool (and she's confirmed I was about a year old and that did happen).
I also have an early memory from before I was 2, catching a glimps of the light rails in NYC when we were on a holiday. As a child growing up on the Dutch countryside, I always used to say I remembered 'there were trains in the sky' when people asked me if I remembered the US before I knew what they were called.
Makedon was always part of Greece and seen as Greece and to this day this is a problem between Greece and Makedon (particularly Greek province of Makedon which was usually part of FYROM in most of history), so Cleopatra was in fact Greek. As were the vast majority of Egyptian rulers during pyramid days.
Wait why the ex over the cleopatra comment? She was born in Egypt but her ancestry traces back to Greece. So she was indeed Greek. Nefertiti was Egyptian.
In High school I did Goat Girl and you can't help, but laugh before you do it. I have a memories when I was close to two, but not two yet.
“She’s just like having an argument with himself on the internet?” This had me rolling!!! My boss now thinks I’m off my meds. Oh well, anything for Miss Charlotte.
Why do people do that? Is it to get the comments going and make your post more visible?
@@neliaferreira9983 I honestly have no idea. This is the only platform I frequent and I don’t post so…. For what it’s worth, I think that you’re probably right.
But my point was (whether intentional or accidental) Miss Charlotte used a female pronoun and a male pronoun for the same person. I found that hysterical for some reason.
I went back to listen again, because I thought I heard wrong. But she did say that. That's a skill in itself. Not only arguing with yourself, but changing gender in the middle of it.
I have a feeling that first review was from a place here in India.... 'Gaandu' is a hindi swear word that roughly stands in for 'a**hole' or other even worse meanings... If it really is an Indian review with the owner responding that way, the response takes a whole new aggressive tone!!
Thank you for clearing that up! I was wondering what it meant!
I was about to comment the same thing. Ancient Macedonians were Greeks. It's sad how many people get confused.
@@marywhistley even if some people disagree, the fact that she was from the Ptolemaic Dynasty means that she was Greek
I did not know that! I love learning new things!
I don't know who Kloepatra is but Cloepatra was Queen of Egypt.
@@harleyquinntheservicedoggo3842
Well her actual name is technically “Κλεοπάτρα” but this is a language barrier thing hence the spelling
Thanks for the video Charlotte, so happy when liars get called out 😆
Cleopatra was definately Greek.
I didn’t say she wasn’t Greek because she was Macedonian. I said that because Macedonia was part of Greece. Her name was Cleopatra of Macedonia.
New Mexico was part of Mexico until the mid 1800's.
I didn’t put the “X” that was an editing choice. I do not edit my videos and never have.
It’s so nice to see Charlotte show people facts about my country. Nigeria 🇳🇬

Cleopatra was Greek. People get confused because there is also a country called macedonia but the ancient civilization was Greek and macedonia is a part of Greece. ( like a state )

I remember coming up to Minnesota on vacation when I was about 1 1/2. I don’t remember the drive, but I do remember the lake and the people (somewhat ). I also remember thinking the dipper we used was absolutely huge…lol
Replying to an old post I know - but just had to say I remember laying on my mums knees getting my nappy changed, I remember having a bottle at bed time, and I remember my third birthday.

The sheep impression was… *chef’s kiss*

In High school I did Goat Girl and you can't help, but laugh before you do it. I have a memories when I was close to two, but not two yet. I have asked my mom" Hey how old was I when this that and the other happened", and she would say, "You were still 1". We don't do the whole 1 and half in my family.
