  • When we bought the snowshoe factory at 10 Tannery Street, inside were two beautiful but well worn benches. Thanks to Tom Johnson, Thomas Johnson antique furniture restoration in Gorham, Maine, these will be good for another hundred years. We think they look great in our gallery space. Tom has been restoring furniture professionally since 1979. His channel is a treasure trove of intimate restoration moments @johnsonrestoration
We had a lovely visit at Tom’s workshop helping him get the backs glued up on the benches, with cookies by Jane.

If anyone out there likes to see furniture brought back to its original beauty and function, this is the gentleman to watch.
His name is Thomas Johnson and he has a TH-cam channel. He does magic in refinishing old and new furniture.

Restoration, it’s in you or it’s not, as a child in late 60’s I would find old junk in the trash, take it home, clean it and try to fix what was broken,
The past few decades I’ve been restoring quality vintage road bikes (bicycles) keeping the original paint and imperfections, deep cleaning, servicing, a guy drove over 300 miles for one of my rarer restros, found your channel couple months back and can’t get enough! It’s the love i see in your work.
Glad i found your channel, thank you.

I would love to see an uncut version of this interview if possible. This is real people and real history and the world needs more of it.

Big fan of Thomas and his channel, very skilled and generous guy. As an amateur (hopefully becoming professional restorer), I see this work and these pieces the same way he does:
I don’t really own the pieces that I buy and restore. I just make my little contribution and pass them on. I am just happy to participate and be part of the story.
