Journey Through Kars: Embracing Cultural Transitions from Soviet to Ottoman Eras

  • Hi everyone,
    We made this video walking in Kars which is a city in the far Northeast of Turkey - only a few km from the Armenian border.
    The one sight that is immediately visible when you come to Kars is the castle on top of the city which is quite impressive. You can climb up to visit and it’s free of charge.
    Due to the pandemic there weren’t many tourists in the city but we saw lots of construction sites and were told that they are preparing the city for the winter tourism.
    We hope you will enjoy this video!

    U ovom gradu sam boravio ove godine u septembru. Grad i ljudi su predivni. Žao mi je što sam se nisam mogao zadržati više od jednog dana. Ipak sam večerao u čuvenom restoranu Kars Kaz Evi.

    Şehir merkezi çekimi yapılırken bazı tarihi yapılar örnek Defterdarlık, Eski Vali konağı ve civarı, demir köprü Türkiye nin yıllardır kullanılan ilk Millet bahçesi gibi yerlerin çekimide olsaydı daha anlam kazanırdı. Yinede güzel yıllardır görmediğim memleketim de sanki o caddeleri sokaklarıgezdim gibi tabii bu sürede çok değişmiş. Teşekkür ederim. Elinize sağlık.

    Kars rugs are supposed to be beautiful. Was this place once occupied by the Russians?

    • @YashNico
      @YashNico  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think Russia tried to attack sometime in the 19th century but it wasn’t successful. However you can see Russian influence especially in the architecture of the city. We really enjoyed walking around since it’s such an interesting place 😁

    • @yaprakcetin5558
      @yaprakcetin5558 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Russians ruled the city briefly! All those beautiful buildings are remnants of Russians. Turkish government did nothing for this city I am from this city my self.

      Both of you are Wrong Kars is a 100 percent Armenian, anyone that ignores this fact is ignorant and uneducated. Kars used to be inhabitanted by Armenians majority but were killed off during the Genocide and the very name Kars comes from the Armenian word Hars bride. I mean come on there is a huge medieval church in the center and the castle was built by the Armenian bagratid empire of Armenia lol, are you guys that far gone from this world. Yes Russians came in briefly to support the Armenian but left them then to dry soon as the Bolsheviks took over
